### 4/5 — Moe

*2019-08-14, version 3.4*

I love the game but idk if it just me but it keep using the same words over and over

### 4/5 — Love it

*2012-03-22, version 3.0.2*

I am a school based occupational therapist and I've seen autistic children who won't imitate simple strokes, trace letters perfectly with this app. The kids find it motivating. It teaches proper formation and it doesn't allow random scribbling. Wish it had prewriting shapes. Will be getting the full version once approved by the employer.

### 4/5 — Pretty Much Perfect

*2012-01-12, version 3.0.2*

As other reviewers have said, this app doesn't go into enthusiastic praises when the child completes a letter or number. If this is important to you and your child, look elsewhere...but good luck finding another that emphasizes the CORRECT way to write! All others I have purchased can be fooled by scribbling/coloring in the designated space. Not this one! Emphasizes order and direction of lines making up the character with simple, easy to follow guides.

### 4/5 — Beautiful app

*2011-08-14, version 3.0.2*

I got this app for my my 3 year old son. It's a beautiful app, easy to use. There are five modes - numbers, capital letters, words in capital letters, lower case letters and words in lower case letters. The free version doesn't have a lot of alphabet writing practice it only has the letters A, B & C, but it's a great preview of the game. You'll be sure to want to purchase it! Just wish they had this app for script writing too for my older kids!

### 5/5 — Amazing!

*2010-10-04, version 0*

My 2 year old son and I both love it. It's great that he's learning to write. :)

### 4/5 — Great App but....

*2010-08-15, version 0*

I showed this app to my wife who teachers kindergarten and we thought it was great except she noticed that the "Stroke order" for forming some letters was different from what she teaches her kids. We're not sure if there's a universally accepted stroke order for english letters but I wonder if it might be possible to offer different "orders" as an option?

### 5/5 — Awesome program

*2010-07-12, version 0*

My kids love it

### 5/5 — Thank you

*2010-02-07, version 0*

Thank you

### 5/5 — I Love this app

*2009-12-12, version 0*

Building a collection of amazing apps for my kids!!!!

Wheels on the Bus, Bacciz Match and Learn, Idoodle, iWriteWords(upgrade to the premium - it is worth it!!!), Old Mac

Apple you are the best! and my retirement account also thanks you :)

### 5/5 — Amazed at how intuitive this is!

*2009-12-09, version 0*

My 2.5yr old son has been "writing" letters with this app and I was totally blown away at how he intuitively knew what to do without me or my wife showing him. I can't speak for whether it will translate to writing his letters any earlier than he would have otherwise, but considering we live in a "paperless" world : ) it's great to know he can write them on screen

### 3/5 — Good App...

*2009-11-01, version 0*

...but I don't like how the letters flip at the end. For children who struggle with letters like b, d, p, this could be confusing. Otherwise, wonderful setup.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Waste of time

*2021-06-21, version 3.4*

There is nothing here…cat cup cat cup cat…waste of space on my iPad.

### 1/5 — Need fixes for IOS 6

*2012-09-30, version 3.0.3*

We update from IOS 5 to iOS 6... There is to much bugs...
I would hold off on buying this app if you have iOS 6 until they fix it.

### 1/5 — Can't get it to work...

*2012-04-10, version 3.0.2*

I realize this is only a free, preview version, however, I can't get it to work. There is no audio despite checking all settings and the audio on my device is on. No matter whether I select the numbers or letters on the home screen, it takes me to the same page to drag a circle along numbers in order. Definitely wouldn't pay for this based on free version. what am I missing?

### 1/5 — Iwrite

*2009-03-26, version 0*

Full version should sound out the letters as they trace them out.

### 2/5 — Too many elements

*2013-01-03, version 3.1*

This is cute, however I don't believe incorporating numbers for Mr. crab to follow is helpful. It is distracting. I would have just used dots or maybe shaded shapes. My son is already familiar with handwriting without tears. The numbered shapes are more vibrantly colored and seems to take the focus away from tracing. Don't think I will upgrade.

### 2/5 — Disappointing

*2012-02-01, version 3.0.2*

I compared 3 different handwriting apps and found this one is disappointing. As a teacher, I’m not convinced of the educational value of this app and don’t think it’s entertaining and challenging enough. I like the bright colors though.

### 2/5 — Beware! - This app writes its own emails using your mail app!

*2011-08-25, version 3.0.2*

I tried this app for my daughter and discovered the app wrote an email without any interaction on my part. I opened my mail app recently and discovered a draft email something along the lines of "I'm using iwritewords on my ipad, you should try it too!" I discarded the draft so I don't remember exactly what it said.

I absolutely do not approve of this and am really ticked-off that an app developer would exploit this opportunity on my device. Maybe this is because it's the free version, but I still think it is completely inappropriate.

Users beware!

### 3/5 — what are other handwriting styles?

*2012-08-25, version 3.0.3*

I might purchase if I knew what the other handwriting styles are....is D'Nealian one of them?

### 3/5 — Cute, but lame

*2011-07-25, version 3.0.1*

Concept is really great for helping learn to write, but only gives you 3 words to trace in the free version. Was fun for my pre-k boy for less than 5 minutes.

### 3/5 — Please! Can u make Elmo!

*2009-11-18, version 0*

I loved this application&my baby are moe active, 17 months loves to sing abc!
Evryone loves elmo&barney songs, specially "I love u"

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Love it

*2022-03-17, version 3.4*

I had this game when I was very little and it was so much fun, now I’m 13 and re-downloading it.

### 5/5 — Good!

*2013-09-06, version 3.2*

My 3 yet old starts this up on her own, does the letters and repeats the words and is proud. What more could I want?

### 5/5 — My little one loves it

*2012-12-17, version 3.1*

Great little game that helps kids want to learn.

### 5/5 — Better than the other writing app I installed

*2012-11-05, version 3.1*

This could be the first app I upgrade. I only have free ones do far.

I like the children's drawings. I like that it uses my child's letters for the words. The voice is helpful and pleasing. The sound it makes when the writing goes out of bounds is nice and just enough to get the child back on track.

Very nice! I hope these people make some more apps!

### 5/5 — Great for young kids

*2012-10-24, version 3.1*

My 20 month old even loves this game. You get to see, hear, and trace the letters. Awesome for a free version. Not sure what the paid version offers yet, but would love to know if it is worth the 2.99.

### 5/5 — Love it

*2012-06-09, version 3.0.3*

My almost 3 year old loves this game.
As a parent, I love it too.
She has fun playing all while learning.

### 5/5 — Terrific

*2011-12-12, version 3.0.2*

The interface is extremely intuitive for toddlers. Very impressed. My littlest was captivated and learned to follow the letter-writing guide quickly.

### 5/5 — very

*2011-12-07, version 3.0.2*

good ❤

### 5/5 — Great app for kids

*2011-01-19, version 3.0.1*

My son never learned how to form letters properly and it has caused a lot of issues for him. My 2nd old is doing great with this and it makes learning to write fun. Highly recommended.

### 5/5 — Perfect!

*2010-11-28, version 0*

This is the best app I've seen for my three year old grand son.
