Such as the Christmas tree in the apartments you can’t decorate it apart from putting lights on it, the rest don’t show up. Then on day 8 decorating the Christmas cracker apart from the base the rest of decorations don’t show up when you click on them. If features like thoughs could get fixed this advent calendar would be 10/10 ### 2/5 — Lovely but the price was a bit of a shock *2024-12-05, version 1.3.0* I downloaded this advent calendar and I was enjoying it so I decided to pay the $9.99 advertised in the app to get the full experience. However I was very surprised and frustrated to see that I was actually charge $21. If the price has changed since the app first came out you really ought to update the app. ### 3/5 — Nice Artwork, Glitchy App, Lousy “Help” 🙄 Line *2024-11-16* Nice artwork, enjoyable activities, and fun games. This is all great but still the app does not operate properly. Two minutes after launching the app, the villagers you see walking back and forth past the cottages and over the bridge disappear for good (but on computer they don’t). I informed the help line about this early in November and after receiving a number of contradictory responses I was told that the techs were working on a fix for this. Now it is a month later and the problem persists. Very poor responsiveness! This app is more expensive than it once was and is only relevant for a month or so. So it should function properly - or be fixed in a timely manner if it works erratically or a customer reports a bug. Customers pay for it to operate properly. * What ever happened to the cats and dogs that were part of the cozy “home” scene? They were a lovely part of the app in years gone by! * Decorating Christmas trees is fun but there is a glitch. You can click on an ornament to try and put it where you want it but it does not always appear. However, I’ve been disappointed the past few years as there seemed to be fewer and fewer activities and more and more videos. I actually thought more than once about skipping this year. I’m glad I didn’t!! The 2022 calendar is awesome and I loved all of the opportunities to decorate and do other Christmas activities. I was also glad to see that some of my decorating efforts turned up on the main scene as in the first years of the calendar. The 2021 London Advent Calendar was wonderful, but 2022’s Sussex edition was even better. I loved searching for the elves, and the naughty snowball thrower! There are so many activities and the production is inspired and beautiful. I’m already looking forward to next year's Calendar! ### 5/5 — Fabulous! *2022-12-29, version 1.1.2* This year’s Advent Calendar outshines previous ones - which incidentally were all excellent! The artistry, magic, attention to detail and complexity of this work are outstanding. Running flawlessly on an iPhone, iPad and laptop. We check-in various times throughout the day to enjoy how the passage of time is beautifully reflected in the village and surroundings, and to just poke around to find fun new discoveries. The Advent Calendar is finished for the year, but I will still continue to check-in and look around - until Epiphany, the 12th Day of Christmas! Which brings to mind a little suggestion, if I may: If you and your team have a bit of energy to spare, maybe you can help keep the Christmas magic alive a little longer (until January 6) with a few, small impromptu additions sprinkled in here and there. ;-) ### 5/5 — Back to being brilliant! *2022-12-28, version 1.1.2* This worked extremely well on my iPad - not a glitch throughout. Having had a calendar each year since the first issued, I had been rather disappointed with the last couple of years, especially the fact there were simply videos and no activities revealed in the daily bauble. But this year has been a true return to form, with excellent ”tasks” incorporated in some of the days, a bit of a challenge in place to find the elves and the daily present within the room. The setting/3-layer scene was perfect for the season. Congratulations to the whole team. ### 5/5 — Such a fun and creative calendar! *2022-12-25* I have gotten every JL Advent calendar and love seeing the progression of the skills and creativity over the years to this absolutely amazing 2022 calendar. It’s the little extra surprise you find when you click on an area that make it so fun. I send these to family members every year and we text every day sharing what we have found and how cute and fun that day of the calendar is. The most important thing is that JL has not lost their sense of who they are as a card company and what sentiment they want to portray and that’s why I am such a devoted follower of their company and send their cards all year long. Great job staff! PS……one tiny regret this year is that the kitten is not in the home place. Let’s multiple purchases for same email address so basically robbing your money. Can’t access the calendar past day 5 apparently we don’t have the full purchase. Given up now! It stopped working and locked me out on Day 4 saying I had to re-purchase it. Support doesn’t seem to be able to help me. Several other people I know are having the exact same problem. It took 4 tries before I was able to access the calendar, which is comprised of glitchy flash animations with no sound despite having settings to control the music and volume (the only thing I’ve ever liked about Jacquie Lawson cards is that they’re calming scenes set to beautiful music). Mainly because your advertisement to pay and open an account keeps popping up and stops everything. You are spoiling the joy I usually have each year from your calendars. Firstly the app won’t accept the provided pin code because one of the letters needs to be lower case and the provided pin is ALL caps, so after you figure out what is wrong, l’ll bet a lot of people don’t, you have to manually change one of the letters. Secondly you wait forever for the calendar to load (l used Apple Play). Really, what a marvellous little diversion. The Jacquie Lawson Sussex Village Advent Calendar is simply dripping in yuletide charm — all the joy of a traditional English Christmas without the bother of hosting actual guests. One opens a new window each day to reveal a flawlessly illustrated vignette: perhaps a brass band tuning up by the village green, or a charming hedgehog in a tasteful scarf. It’s all rather enchanting — like stepping directly into a Richard Curtis film, minus the emotional mess and with significantly more tasteful decor. The games and activities are delightfully diverting — one spent a shocking amount of time decorating a virtual tree (far better than the Zimmermans’ horror in last year’s newsletter, incidentally). And the music! Carols so perfectly rendered, one suspects the Royal College of Music may have had a hand. Frankly, if one isn’t partaking in Jacquie’s annual digital winter wonderland, one isn’t really celebrating Christmas.
