## What is Jade Codex?

Jade Codex is a traditional Chinese almanac that knows your chart.

Every day it opens on a complete 黄历 day page: the lunar date, the day's 干支 stem and branch, the 建除 day officer, the 值神 presiding spirit, the lunar mansion (二十八宿), the 彭祖百忌 caution, the clash animal, the auspicious directions, and the full 宜 and 忌 lists of what the day favours and what it does not.

All of it is computed on your iPhone. Solar-term instants come from Meeus astronomy; the 宜/忌 tables are reproduced from 《钦定协纪辨方书》, the Qing imperial almanac of 1741, which is in the public domain and cited inside the app on a Sources & Lineage screen. Nothing is invented, and nothing is sent anywhere.

THE ALMANAC IS EVERYONE'S. THE READING IS YOURS.

A printed almanac says the same thing to every reader. Yours doesn't have to. Enter your birth date and Jade Codex builds your Four Pillars chart (八字) — Day Master, season, favourable element — then reads today against it: the day's recommendations ranked for you, each with one line saying why it fits. The same Tuesday is not the same Tuesday for everyone.

WHAT'S INSIDE

• 黄历 day page — 宜/忌, 建除, 值神, 二十八宿, 彭祖百忌, 冲煞, 喜神 and 财神 directions. Free, complete, and identical for every reader.
• Four Pillars — your natal 八字 chart, ten gods, element balance, and the 流年 annual cycle.
• I Ching — cast a hexagram with three coins; all 64 hexagrams and their changing lines.
• Dream dictionary — 972 Chinese dream symbols in the 周公解梦 tradition, searchable.
• Codex — a linked reference of hexagrams, trigrams, stems, branches and the twenty-four solar terms.
• Home Screen and Lock Screen widgets, a Control Center control, and Siri: "Today's element in Jade Codex."
• A sticker pack — the eight trigrams, the twelve earthly branches, the five elements.
• English and 简体中文 throughout.

PRIVATE BY CONSTRUCTION

No account, no sign-in, no server. Your birth data never leaves your iPhone. The app is fully functional offline and with notifications turned off.

JADE CODEX PREMIUM

Premium unlocks the personalised ranking on the day page, movement through past and future days, the full daily breakdown, deeper chart readings, and unlimited follow-up questions. The almanac's own 宜/忌 columns stay free and complete — we sell the reading, not the reference.

Subscriptions are offered monthly and annually. Payment is charged to your Apple Account at confirmation of purchase. Subscriptions renew automatically unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period; manage or cancel any time in your Apple Account settings.

## Version history (last 5 releases)

### 2.0 — 2026-09-14

Version 2.0 — The Personal Almanac

Jade Codex is now a 黄历.

Today opens on a complete traditional almanac day page: the lunar date and 干支, the 建除 day officer, 值神, the lunar mansion, 彭祖百忌, the clash animal, the auspicious directions, and the day's full 宜 and 忌 columns — reproduced from 《钦定协纪辨方书》 and computed on your iPhone from solar-term astronomy. Free, complete, and the same for every reader.

Then it reads that day against your own Four Pillars chart, and tells you in one line why each recommendation fits you and not someone else.

Also new in 2.0:

• Share today's almanac as a card.
• "Today's element in Jade Codex" — Siri and Spotlight, with nothing to set up.
• A sticker pack: eight trigrams, twelve earthly branches, five elements — 25 stickers for Messages.
• Widgets now carry the almanac, and refresh at the turn of each 时辰 rather than on a fixed clock.
• Your Day Master, month season and favourable element are now free, above the paywall.
• A Sources & Lineage screen naming every classical text the almanac draws on.
• Mark an 宜 item done and the day quietly remembers — no score, no streak, no notification.
• The lunar calendar now runs 1900–2100, and every lunar-month start in that range is corrected — including 春节 2027.

### 1.7 — 2026-07-28

Yao is now Jade Codex. New name, and a new shape for the whole app — plus your own Book of Destiny.

A new shape for the whole app, and a Book of Destiny that writes itself.

Three simple places

Today — your day at a glance, now organized as Today / This Cycle / This Year: daily fortune, solar term, and the year ahead.
Ask — everything you can ask, in one place: cast the coins, interpret a dream, ask about your year, or question your chart.
Your Book — your BaZi chart, the 64 hexagrams, and your growing Codex.
Your Codex is new

Every hexagram, trigram, stem, branch, Ten God, element and solar term now has its own page — including what it means in your chart.
Watch your personal constellation grow as you cast, dream, and ask.
Guided threads walk you through your own graph.
Living pages for Career, Love, Health, Wealth and This Year rewrite themselves as your readings accumulate.
Combine any two entities to discover how they relate, and collect the rare ones.
Annual fortune, opened up

Today's daily luck reading is now free, every day.
A free 太岁 snapshot for your zodiac year — honest, with no upsell.
Ask Your Year: type a real question and talk it through.
Drill from year to month to day.
Never miss your moment

Optional alerts when a new month pillar begins or a clash day lands on your chart.
A Control Center button for today's fortune.

### 1.6 — 2026-07-17

• Smarter dream matching — the Oracle now recognizes the symbols you actually
name in your dream and only shows symbols that truly relate, instead of
  always listing three.
• New: "Why this symbol?" — tap any matched symbol to reveal a personal
explanation of how it connects to your specific dream. Your first symbol's
  insight is always free.
• Dream journal entries now keep these personal insights, so past readings
  grow richer too.
• Fixed an issue that could prevent the app from opening after updating.
• Polish and stability improvements throughout.

### 1.5 — 2026-07-07

• Your day, read from your chart: the new Today's Fortune card on Home weighs each day's energy against your own BaZi chart — with do & avoid guidance
• Compatibility reading: compare two birth charts for relationship insight
• Ask about your chart: follow-up questions answered by private, on-device AI
• Full Simplified Chinese support throughout the app
• Bug fixes and performance improvements

### 1.3 — 2026-05-11

A new Destiny tab brings the Chinese BaZi (Four Pillars / 八字) natal chart to Yao:

• Your four pillars computed from true solar time
• Day Master, Ten Gods, and element balance
• Favorable elements from five classical schools, evaluated independently
• Decade Luck and Annual Fortune timelines
• Plain-English personality, career, wealth, relationship, and health readings — written on-device by Apple Intelligence, grounded in 175 hand-curated practitioner readings

Plus: refined oracle prose, fewer repetitions, and stability fixes throughout.
