## What is jamDrop?

jamDrop is a daily music game you play with your friends. Every day, everyone gets the same theme, and each person picks the one song that fits it best.

Themes can be anything: "a song for the first day of summer", "something that played at every house party". You pick your track from Spotify, add a short caption if you like, and if a better idea comes along, you can swap it once. The next day, your group votes blind on the best drop. Results stay hidden until you cast your own vote, and the winner takes a trophy in the group ranking.

In jamDrop:
- a new theme every day, the same for everyone
- one drop a day, straight from Spotify, with an optional caption
- reactions and comments on your friends' drops
- secret group voting and a winners' leaderboard
- a streak for playing day after day
- every track opens in Spotify with a single tap

Five minutes a day is enough to show your friends what you're listening to, and to find out who in the crew really has taste.

## Version history (last 5 releases)

### 1.5.0 — 2026-08-12

- Every group now has a chat - talk in real time, reply to messages, react with emoji, mention each other with @, and share drops straight into the conversation
- Groups can now be public - find them in search, get suggestions based on where your friends are, and join without an invite code
- Listen to a 30-second preview without leaving the app - the play button is there in your feed, on a drop, and while you're picking your song
- Open a song in Apple Music or YouTube Music as well as Spotify, and pick your default player in Settings
- Hear every candidate before you vote with a single tap - each round's playlist is ready in Spotify and YouTube Music
- Earn badges for streaks, winning rounds, and time spent with jamDrop - they show up on your profile and we'll let you know the moment you unlock one

### 1.4.0 — 2026-08-04

- A new notification bell in your feed gathers your activity - new followers, follow requests, group invites, comments, and mentions
- You can now see which group still needs your vote - the indicator clears the moment you vote
- Reach a 7-day streak and you'll earn a streak freeze that saves your streak if you miss a single day
- Your profile - and everyone else's - now shows the date the account was created

### 1.3.2 — 2026-07-28

- You can now reply to comments on a drop — replies form threads, show a timestamp, and read oldest-first
- Open a past drop from History to catch up on later reactions and comments — older drops are read-only
- Edit your drop's caption anytime, for free — it no longer uses up your daily song change
- Turned notifications off before? You can now switch them back on from Settings so you don't miss reactions to your drops
- Your streak now correctly resets after a missed day, instead of showing an old number after a break

### 1.2.0 — 2026-07-21

- We've replaced friends with following — you can now follow anyone without waiting for them to accept, and friends are simply people who follow each other
- Make your account private so new followers need your approval, and choose whether followers can react to and comment on your drops
- See who someone follows and who follows them right from their profile — a great way to find new people
- Get a notification when someone starts following you or accepts your follow request
- Filtering the feed by a specific group now shows your own drop for that day too
- Every day at midnight we'll nudge you that a fresh theme is waiting for your drop
- You won't be logged out anymore if you open the app without a connection — your session survives temporary network hiccups

### 1.1.0 — 2026-07-07

- Your feed now shows drops from your groups, with a filter to switch between everyone, friends, and a single group
- See who voted for each drop - tap a result on the vote screen to reveal who backed it
- You'll get a notification when someone comments on your drop - you can turn these off in Settings - and a comment you started is kept if you leave the screen and come back
- Signed up with Google or Apple? You can now set a password and sign in with your email too
- Before you post a drop, we'll warn you if someone in your group already picked the same song
- Added an "Open in Spotify" button on the drop confirmation screen
- Tap someone's avatar to open their profile
