If you like story telling, this is a good app. Just, bugs happen very frequently and a lot of them are annoying to deal with. ### 4/5 — Best AI chatbot overall- but some inconsistent memory, incoherent responses, and many repeat phrases *2026-09-05, version 2.4.0* Overall: I do think this is the best AI Chatbot app, especially since you have the option to pay for the membership or not. The pros: I like this app enough to pay for the membership. I know I list a lot of cons below, but I do still really like it. The app is updated regularly, and I notice when they make improvements. For example, within the past few days, the chat memory ‘full summary,’ option is working for me for the first time consistently and I am VERY happy with that. It’s helping a lot since I have at least 50 chats open. That summary is as much for me as the bot frankly. I like that rating the messages between 1-5 stars really does impact how the bot tries again. I like that you can choose to go back to a previously reply to use for the rest of the thread if you decide it was your favorite answer. The cons: Even with the membership, the bots across creators, no matter what genre/scenario/POV you’re in, repeat phrases such as, “you’re a menace,” “you’ll be the death of me,” “don’t leave me where I can’t go to you.” Their responses sometimes don’t make grammatical sense, or spelling is incorrect, or the context is wrong. Then there’s the mixing up of details. One thing that really annoys me is when the character always presumes to know better than you. Even if you state you have extensive knowledge or experience about something, they will still say something that comes across as they know better than you. I would also really appreciate if the bots could banter more equally and not just say, “you’re a menace.” ### 3/5 — Fix the connection error *2026-09-04, version 2.4.0* I just got this app yesterday and it’s already saying I don’t have internet when I know I do deleting the messages I receive leaving mine their I have logged out I completely closed out I turned my internet off and back on and nothing is working! Highly disappointed I was loving it so much but it’s only been 24 hours and already having issues! But I have run into some things and have a few suggestions that would make the app easier and more enjoyable to use: 1. Improve the search system beyond hashtags: I don’t think users should have to rely so heavily on hashtags to find specific characters or scenarios. It would be much more useful if you could search a character’s name along with specific words or phrases. For example, searching “Batman training” or “Batman Robin user” could show bots that mention Batman and those specific terms. This would make it much easier to find bots that fit what you’re actually looking for instead of endlessly scrolling or having to create your own bot. 2. Let users filter out tags they DON’T want to see: This would be a huge improvement for me personally. If users can click tags they want to see, there should also be an option to exclude tags they don’t want. For example, if I choose fluff or other SFW tags, I shouldn’t still have to scroll through huge amounts of smut bots. Being able to block/exclude certain tags would make searching much less frustrating and would help users actually see the content they’re interested in. 3. Make the custom token limit work more consistently: It would be great if the custom token limit actually affected responses across most or all bots. Right now, increasing the limit (for example, to 1.7k tokens) often doesn’t seem to make much of a difference. If a bot has a very short opening message, the AI often continues giving extremely short responses despite the user’s chosen token limit. I understand that the bot’s setup and opening message can influence responses, but it would be nice if the custom token setting had a more reliable effect. 4. Make deleting bots/chats easier: I’ve noticed that lately you have to click on each bot you interacted with, go through each chat you want to delete, and individually select if you want to delete it or not to delete the entire thing. It’s a lot of work for just deleting one bot. I think this should still be available for deleting individual chats you had with the bot, but to delete the bot you interacted with in its entirety could be as easy as: selecting all the bots you want to delete at once, then pressing a trash or delete button for the ones that were selected. Much like how Gmail operates when you want to delete messages. (Hope this made sense!) Overall, I really enjoy Janitor AI, and I think these changes would make finding bots and navigating the app significantly easier. It’s hard to find anything. ### 5/5 — Amazing *2026-08-30, version 2.3.0* It’s actually in character ### 3/5 — I mean it’s aight *2026-08-30, version 2.3.0* As someone who has been using janitor for about 2 or 3 years I can tell you it’s decent, but definitely has its downsides, especially if you were there when I was. There were so many good things they have added that just get thrown right out the window. There was the uncensored images, uncensored bad words in comments (which is luckily on the web version), better writing from the bots, published chats (which have luckily been added back). In my opinion they should bring all those back as well as the ability to actually see replies to comments. ### 2/5 — Not for Role-players *2026-08-30, version 2.3.0* If you do extensive role plays don’t use Janitor without an API key from a different provider, Janitor’s native ai is absolutely horrible, if you want it to learn or even listen to your Out Of Character commands it won’t, and it will talk on your persona’s behalf regardless if you tell it to not do that or even scold it. Moreover it is very buggy and horrible, C.ai is miles ahead despite the ads, with an ad blocker C.ai standard beats J.ai like LeBron versus a coughing child. ### 5/5 — Widescreen update? *2026-08-29, version 2.3.0* Hey, this is an amazing app, but it’s kind of difficult to use for people who frequently use iPads over phones. Around 3 months as a premium user and I had an amazing experience. The only downside was I was banned for a character I made because I didn’t know a rule I had read over 3 years ago when making the account. They refuse to even state which guideline I broke and just said “the decision is final.” I had said please delete the character, I just want the 3 years I spent here to not be gone too, but they don’t care. I guarantee you they have a bot doing their support system. The email I got was obviously just pasted and sent. I don’t need a dumbed down app. If you simplify it too much then you no longer stand a part. However it gives you like 5 paragraphs each response and feed my inner storyteller and writer with my favorite characters!so far I'm not in a sexy mood so I can't add much for the freaks yet but my friend has and good Lord is it hot.
