### 3/5 — Wanted to love it

*2026-03-20*

I really wanted to love this product. The nutrition advice seems sound. But you can’t get the full benefits without agreeing to sync up your health records, which given how many data leaks there are nowadays I’ve just I’m not comfortable doing. Too bad. I wish you could manually input your exercise as well. Which also requires thinking your apple health. It all just feels a little too invasive unfortunately it’s not going to work for me.

### 3/5 — Not quite there

*2025-10-13*

January has a good start and it is trying to do something other calorie tracking apps don’t, by identifying what foods you eat might lead to glucose spikes and how to address those spikes.

But the app needs to mature more. First, most food items only have a single unit of entry. There needs to be more flexibility to enter each item using oz, grams, or tablespoons , cups or servings. About 30% let you do that. The rest force you to use a single unit (often cups or servings), thus you have to make conversions in your mind to figure it out.

Second, custom recipe creation is a disaster. You can’t add ingredients by scanning, the recipe serving size calculations are all messed up. For example, I make my own bread which makes 15 slices. Try to enter all the ingredients and choose a serving size of 15. When you try to add a slice to your meal, sometimes it will add 1/15th, sometimes it adds the whole thing. It never works consistently.

Same problem with copying food items from one meal to next. Sometimes it copies the units correctly, sometimes it resets it to a single serving.

And the response time on ingredient addition is too slow. It takes quite a few seconds for the new macro numbers to be calculated every time you change the serving size. There is too much lag to let you enter
Multiple ingredients quickly.

Finally, the AI. The idea is good, to have AI interpret your numbers and give you positive encouragement and useful suggestions. But it is not quite there. While it recognizes some of the foods you eat and gives you positive encouragement based on them, the suggestions it gives remains limited and generic. Too much sugar in your last meal? It will tell you to cut down on sugary drinks, even though I didn’t enter a single sugary drink in the past week. Not enough protein? It will tell you to add a chicken breast, some lentils or beans to your meals, even if your last meal was a chicken breast with a side of beans.

Finally, it also doesn’t show you a tally of your meal (how many calories was my dinner?). You can only see totally for the day, or add all the individual components of your meal manually.

### 2/5 — Toni

*2025-08-25, version 1.7.49*

This app is not correct regarding the glucose reaction to foods. It states that meat, water, ice etc cause spikes in glucose! This is totally incorrect. I’ve reported it to customer service weeks ago and it’s still not accurate. It’s totally useless the way it is!

### 2/5 — Not Supporting Type one

*2025-07-17, version 1.7.44*

I finally kind of strange, that there’s an app that can predict how your blood sugar reacts with what you eat, except for type one diabetes and only that. I’m just not sure why it was even released when it works with type 2, prediabetes, and other chronic illnesses that can be impacted from blood sugar, just not type 1 diabetes?? Seems like you’re missing out on large portion of people.

### 4/5 — Can't tell

*2025-04-18, version 1.7.32*

No idea if it works well, like other apps as such they refuse to give you notification options around your meal times to remind you to log. So of course this being new to me, I forget, and this app on my phone won't tell me. It does send notifications but I have no control over when they do pop up. I have so many small free workout apps that offer custom notifications around the time and days I want to workout, so I know it's very simple to have this option. Somehow this app doesn't have that...

### 3/5 — App is nice but usless

*2025-04-12*

If you are considering using this app, it is important to note that it does not provide any nutritional data to Apple Health. For instance, if you are using a fitness app to monitor your calorie intake and usage after a workout, this app is not suitable for your needs. As I mentioned, the app is functional, but it is essentially useless. You would be better served by the Bevel app. However, if you prefer this app, feel free to use it. I do not and cannot recommend it to anyone serious about their health. I will give it three stars for its design, but no more. I hope that the developers will improve it in the future.

### 2/5 — i need the GL load function

*2025-01-25, version 1.7.18*

just like the old version, i try to calculate my food GL load, can you add this function back to the app please?

### 4/5 — NO ability to enter blood glucose readings

*2025-01-01*

got this to help monitor my blood glucose, says it helps monitor it but, it does so based on foods’ Glycemic Index, which may be great for your regular people but, not so great for those of us close to being or being pre-diabetics.. For example it said a large banana would have a low impact on my BG, maybe for some but for me; 2 hrs after eating it with protein (peanut butter), my BG was 141 and 4 hrs later was 125.. Just no way this app can be accurate at predicting your blood glucose impact with foods when it does NOT allow you to enter what your blood glucose readings are after eating certain foods when their prediction is off.. if it allowed you to enter your 90mins after eating blood glucose reading when first eating a new food you log, maybe then it could actually help predict how a food/meal will impact your blood glucose…until then, this app is not worth paying for to ‘me’, maybe after it includes us logging our BG too, i will pay for it.. 4 stars though for it is an easy to use app and helpful in other areas..

### 3/5 — Not free $6.99 month

*2024-12-30, version 1.7.13*

Didn’t use the app, but after downloading and setting up found out it isn’t free… cost $6.99 a month

### 2/5 — Won’t fit on screen

*2024-11-01*

I was hoping that this would be the app that could help me control my weight and count carbs. Unfortunately the app is not designed to fit properly in my iPhone screen. You can’t read all the words because they are cut off on the sides. When you turn your screen it doesn’t rotate the app so you can see the side words. It’s beyond frustrating. I don’t recommend it unless they fix the app.

### 1/5 — Buggy

*2024-10-27, version 1.7.4*

Despite conversations with an almost nonexistent support staff. It remains buggy, picks wrong dates and has usage difficulties.

### 1/5 — Just bad

*2024-10-16, version 1.7.3*

You have to pay for it to use the camera. 79.99 for a year. The tracker will not let you choose the correct items. It says free but its not. This is just trash.

### 1/5 — Crashes

*2024-10-07, version 1.7.1*

Keeps crashing every time I log food

### 2/5 — Where’s the beef

*2024-09-29, version 1.6.0*

I can’t even search for basic food without paying LOL

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Ugh

*2026-01-11, version 1.7.56*

I really enjoyed this until I got a new phone. I can’t open it and I can’t get in touch with anybody.

### 1/5 — Does not support diabetic users

*2025-06-17, version 1.7.38*

I was very disappointed to download this app and learn that it does not support users with diabetes, or those who take insulin. I guess it’s more important to chase the current trends than to support people who actually have to monitor their glucose for the rest of their life. How hard would it be to at least offer tracking and logging functionality to diabetics rather than boot them off the app as soon as we select the diabetic option?

### 1/5 — No customer service

*2025-05-18, version 1.7.35*

I got logged out during my trial period and just assumed that meant I was cancelled. I wasn’t, got charged and there is no way to ask for a refund

### 1/5 — Don’t purchase

*2025-03-28*

I’ve been trying to contact support for over a month to cancel my subscription and get a refund. It’s like the company doesn’t exist. No response, even after receiving auto replies. Their websites no longer work. I’ve contacted the CEO on LinkedIn. This all feels like a scam. Worst experience I’ve had. Unless you want to be paying endlessly, choose a different app and business.

**Developer response:** Hi, thank you for your response, and we're so sorry for the issue you encountered. The subscription you had was not with this app; it was with our old January Pro app, which, while still active, is no longer sold or maintained. As you say, we removed that website some time ago. We have already issued a full refund for our previous app, and again apologize for not canceling prior to the auto-renewal kicking in. We trust everything is now sorted, and again, we thank you for your feedback.

### 1/5 — Cancel my account

*2025-03-23, version 1.7.29*

App doesn’t work

### 1/5 — I don’t understand this

*2025-02-18, version 1.7.23*

How can taking a photo of what I eat help? How can this AI thing know what the ingredients are. Now I’ve spent money and there is no way to get help. I don’t know why I did this. I’m still not able to use it.

### 1/5 — Not happy

*2025-02-04, version 1.7.20*

This app should say from the beginning that is is going to cost money

### 1/5 — It’s not working

*2025-01-27, version 1.7.19*

It’s not working

### 1/5 — Disappointed

*2025-01-06, version 1.7.14*

I checked the app info for In App purchases, nothing is stated. After completing the information I see that the app has purchases. Not very transparent.

### 1/5 — Poor Database

*2024-12-19, version 1.7.12*

You need to foolish pay this subscription price. Not user friendly. Needs a lot more refinement before worth getting. I will stay MyFitness app

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Jan for the win!

*2026-06-26*

A1C went from 6.3 to 5.1 in a year by following Jan’s information. The weight loss was just a bonus.

Jan helped me dial in my diet without giving up the foods I crave, spiking glucose, or blowing macros.

Jan also spoiled me on AI coaches. A great balance of AI without the noise and endless do-loop many AI coaches offer (looking at you Google Health). Feedback is always on target and actionable.

I’ve been using the free version for the past year and have met or exceeded my personal goals. Will be upgrading to get on the other side of the paywall to keep making progress.

Thanks Jan!!

### 5/5 — Great app for getting healthy

*2026-01-24*

Been using this app for about three months now. It’s a great way to really see and make you aware of what your putting in your body. So far I have dropped 18 pounds. I would like to see though the app be able to connect to my Dexcom G7 glucose monitor. Also it would be great if it gave the ability to track more foods in grams v.s. cups, as I measure out most of my food that way.

### 5/5 — Awesome

*2025-10-09, version 1.7.50*

I didn’t think it would work, but it really does and it’s really fun to discover the things about your food
