### 5/5 — Helpful!

*2014-08-10, version 1.7*

Seems like it's made for Japanese children, but still helpful for me in learning katakana!

### 5/5 — very funny and instructive

*2014-07-06, version 1.7*

ok, i already studied kana and hiragana way back but never really practiced it much, this app and the hiragana are putting me back on game. not good for first ever contact but great to acquire quickness with assimilation of phonetics to alphabet

### 5/5 — Good

### 5/5 — It might confuse you

*2013-12-11, version 1.4*

Okay well for those of you who want to learn how to write in katakana, click on the first option in the app, and then click on any of the options listed to do (like the: a, i, u, e, o, or ka, ki, ku, ke, ko, etc) and it'll teach you how to write it!!! Hope this helps!! (:

### 5/5 — Love it!

*2013-08-30, version 1.3*

The whole purpose of this app is to give you practice with the Japanese alphabet in katakana. Just like in english you have to know your alphabets. If you want to know symbols go study the Chinese kanji for words since that's where most of the words that don't fit with hiragana or the katakana come from.

### 5/5 — Great app

### 1/5 — sounds

*2022-03-29, version 3.0.0*

the sounds r kinda creepy to me idk why but its loud and distracting yk

### 1/5 — I already know kata n hira

*2018-04-14, version 3.0.0*

It was annoying and I couldn't focus from the sounds

### 1/5 — Makes no sense.

*2013-10-09*

I downloaded this to help me learn Katakana, because I can't read it, yet every single menu button and instruction is in Katakana?

### 2/5 — Bring back old sounds

*2015-03-04, version 2.0.1*

My son loves this app, and has learned a lot from it, but ever since the last update it no longer makes a sound when you complete a line when drawing the symbols- he keeps asking me why it's not making the sound anymore and doesn't even want to use the app now that the sound is gone. Is there any way you can put the sound back in?

### 2/5 — ehh

*2014-09-16, version 1.7*

at its core its a great app but its so buggy to the point that it sometimes makes it hard to actually use it

### 2/5 — This app is bad

*2013-04-30, version 1.3*

Personally I hated it. I learned nothing. You would be better off just googling the katakana alphabet and learning how to speak the language. I would not advise this app for anyone trying to learn Katakana.

### 2/5 — Not very effective

*2013-04-01, version 1.3*

I'm here to learn katakana, I was expecting flash cards and writing practice. Of course it did have some, but I need to learn all of them.

### 3/5 — ?

*2012-01-20, version 1.0*

is it just me or didn't it work for anyone else?

### 4/5 — It's okay

*2013-05-11, version 1.3*

I think it's meant more for Japanese kids, but it's kind of helpful used alongside other apps or learning tools.

### 4/5 — Great!

*2012-09-05, version 1.3*

This app is awesome! I got it to help me with my Japanese class (since I'm a little bit of a slow learner) and it has helped me a ton. The only downside is that it goes a little fast when you first get started but it's still an amazing help.

### 5/5 — Amazing

*2023-02-02, version 3.0.0*

This app changed my life, for the better. In fact, you could say it saved me. I was swimming at the local pool when some inflatables floated over my head- I couldn’t breathe. I could feel the life draining out of me and was welcoming death when Japanese Katakana pulled me out of the water and performed life-saving CPR. If it were not for this app, my four beautiful children would have grown up without a mother. Thank you!!!

### 5/5 — Best app for learning Katakana

*2020-02-12, version 3.0.0*

I like the songs in this app for learning the letters, it motivates me to learn.

### 5/5 — Really great

*2019-06-30, version 3.0.0*

Awesome!!! The rhythm and the songs really help it get stuck in your head! Thanks so much.

### 5/5 — Fun app

*2018-03-30, version 3.0.0*

It’s a fun useful app, but having at least basic knowledge of katakana/hiragana is an absolute must otherwise you’ll be lost.
Definitely worth a download.

### 5/5 — Great! With one request

*2016-03-18, version 2.0.1*

Love this and the hiragana app! My child always asks to play it...and has started applying it to read Japanese story books.
Would love to see expanded vocabulary in future versions and perhaps katakana words which are actually used in Japan. Instead of akachan, maybe use appurupai,(Apple pie) kohi (coffee) miruku (milk) keiki (cake) etc. so the learner can actually apply the katakana to real-world experiences.

### 5/5 — Helped me learn

*2016-02-22, version 2.0.1*

Thank you for making this app! I know it's for kids, but I am a 30 year old English speaker that has learned a considerable amount of katakana from your application. I also learned the words from this app. A-a-akachan! A! A!

### 5/5 — Great app

*2015-05-16, version 2.0.1*

If you want to learn katakana this is a great app and very effective for studying for tests :)

### 5/5 — Excellent!

Excellent and fun app for learning katakana!

### 5/5 — Great app

*2015-04-30, version 2.0.1*

Helped me out a lot!

### 5/5 — Helps a lot!

*2014-10-09, version 1.7*

I was so confused when i learnt Japanese for the first time. I thought it was hard to write the letters. But then I found this app and this changed my mind. Now writing Japanese becomes so easier! The step-by-step explanation is what I love from this app. But it would be much better if there is an explanation in English--because I am a beginner and can't understand what it says in Japanese.
