Die App ist sehr gut, vorallem mit dem 先生Modus. Es hilft sich dafür selber Testsets zusammenzustellen, leider gibt es nicht ganz so gute vordefinierte wie bei Kanji LS Touch. 

Allerdings crashed die App bei mir reproduzierbar bei「無視」. Ausserdem ist die erste Vokabel im Übungsmodus meist falsch initialisiert, es ist haufig die letzte vorher aufgerufene die beim Start des Views als erste angezeigt wird. Nach dem Blättern ist dann eine andere Vokabel die erste. Das deutet auf ein Memory Management Problem hin.

This app is great when you use hiragana to find the vocabulary. However, it doesn't always give you what you're looking for if you type in English or German.

Also, it is kind of annoying that this app is separate from Kanji LS Touch if you're learning how to write kanji. This app is intended to help you study vocabulary and if you look for single kanji that do not occur as their own word, you're out of luck. 

This app is great. It works well as a study aid and as a dictionary, particularly if there are sample sentences that show you the usage of the word (which is sometimes very distinct from what you'd think of the translation). The only downside is that it's expensive and that certain functions are in separate apps, so that you have to spend even more money.

My vocabulary and kanji learning has been totally dependant on this app. I practice everyday while commuting, and personally, I find it has been the best app on kanji memorization I've downloaded so far. It's a fantastic tool! I love it. 

I just got some suggestions for improvement. 
1) It would be really useful if we could edit the meaning of the words on the app itself. 
2) If I switch applications while in the middle of a test, and go back to J LS T, it then starts the test all over again. In the previous updates it used to save where I left at.  Also since the last update, I can't do 'Test all mistakes'. For some reason it starts the list with all the words again.

Excellente application que j'utilisais depuis plusieurs années en dilettante et grâce à laquelle j'ai atteint les 1000 kanjis en quelques mois. 
Cependant! Il semble que dans la dernière mise à jour en mode interrogation la comparaison de l'ordre des traits entre le kanji qu'on a tracé et le modèle ait disparu! Ce n'est pas possible docteur!!

I find this app has some useful features, but it could use improvements in some places.

The font being used for writing doesn't represent real Japanese handwriting. 週 for example, the last 3 strokes are written differently than they appear in this font. さand きare other examples. In handwriting, the last stroke isn't connected to the rest of the character.

I would also like it if the iPad version could allow for the option of a smaller writing area. This would help to enforce the size of the actual characters when writing in real life. I feel the large space on the iPad doesn't help me learn as easily.

It's always deeply frustrating to spend significant amounts of money on an application that the seller never ever updates. As of now, 1.1 dates back from almost 7 months ago.
Granted, Japanese LS is a fine app. But it still crashes once in a while (I had to delete the app and reinstall it this morning: farewell custom sets). And there is much, much room for improvement, such as having hiragana everywhere if desired, changing the depressingly dark interface, more customizing option, better navigation, etc.
I hope the developer hears his customers who spent $15 on his product.

LE DEVELOPPEUR M'A REPONDU TRES RAPIDEMENT mais aucune de ces propositions sera au menu car il ne veut pas trop compliquer son application ou que apple bride certaine fonction comme le passage d'une application a l'autre...Dommage...
Il est tout de même a noter que lors d'une prochaine mise a jour, il est prévu en mode TEST de voir les premiers traits du Kanji en cliquant sur SOLVE ;-)

Après avoir acheté Kanji LS Touch, je me suis lancé pour acheter aussi celle-la. Car les 2 se doivent de se completer normalement.
J'ai confience au developpeur et j'espère qu'il ne nous laissera pas tomber et qu'il rajoutera des options supplémentaire.
* Augmentation du nombre de vocable en francais
* Saut par lien hypertexte sur les kanji que l'on ne connait pas
* Tracé automatique des kanjis
* Possibilité pour ceux qui ont Kanji LS Touch et Japonais de pouvoir aller sur l'une ou l'autre appli quand on clique sur un kanji

Une application très complète même s'il y a quelques défauts.
Le principal défaut est son prix assez élevé, mais qui reste accessible face à certaines méthodes qui coutent presque 10x ça.
Une application que tout Japonisant se doit de posséder.

### 4/5 — Needs romanji for sentences and a little polishing, but still solid.

Doofus, this does have verbs. I've been playing this application for a couple of hours and it definitely does test both verbs and compound (multiple character) words. Having bought Kanji LS previously and liked it for its direct input of Kanji characters (as Jan Bogner's Japanese Apps are the only full featured Apps I know that provide this), I bought Japanese LS just for its inclusion of example sentences tests. It also includes the advantage of testing multiple character words, wheras Kanji LS tests only single Kanji elements of words. Japanese LS succeeds greatly at this second point. 

Unfortunately for the testing of example sentences, you can't easily extract the full meaning of the sentences tested because the phonetic reading is not given for all elements in the sentences (which would aid in looking up unknown words). Other problems for this key testing mode include that the English meaning of sentences disappears after you enter your answer and the number of characters for each answer is not listed clearly (such as would be in the game of hangman, wheras there would be a blank for each syllable. Example: 'kanarazu' would be 'ka na ra zu,' there are four blanks to fill in). On the positive side, the testing of multiple Kanji and compound words in Japanese LS is a big improvement over the single Kanji input limitation of Kanji LS.  It would also help if the learning sets were divided into more reasonably sized sets, such as 10 to 30 words at a time, instead of the formidably sized JLPT sets (The smallest of which is JLPT 3 - 664 words). 

If this application is polished a bit more, especially given the advantages of its direct input, which no other Japanese learning App does, it could easily become one of the greatest written Japanese learning Apps out there. For spoken Japanese, Japanese Sensei definitely wins out for now, but still, Japanese LS is uniquely instructive for its direct input testing and will definitely be worth its pricetag if these couple of small hiccups are remedied. A strong Application nonetheless.

Je ne comprend pas l'avis précédent, il est infondé (un concurrent?): 
pour afficher la lecture en kana en même temps que le kanji dans les tests il suffit d'appuyer sur le bouton "i" (ou sur le mot en kanji). On a ainsi les kanji, la prononciation et le sens affichés sur la même page. 
De plus il est clairement stipulé dans la description que sur les 145000 vocables traduits en anglais 14800 le sont en français (ce qui est deja bien superieur a accelastudy qui propose seulement 2100 mots et aucun verbe..) aucune arnaque donc par rapport a la description de l'app.
Enfin je trouve l'interface très classe, une affaire de gouts et de couleurs.

Je n'ai aucun lien avec le developpeur mais cet avis est bien trop sévère par rapport a cette app qui est exactement ce que je recherchais. 
Certaines choses sont a ameliorer, c'est une version 1.0, mais je fais confiance au developpeur qui a deja fait d'importantes mises a jour gratuites pour une autre de ses apps (Kanji LS) que j'ai déjà et dont je suis tres satisfait. 
J'ai envoyé mes "requests" au dev qui a tout de suite repondu favorablement. Il est tres facilement joignable comme indiqué dans la description (en anglais ou en allemand). 

Enfin le prix peut paraitre un peu élevé par rapport aux tarifs de l'appstore mais ce genre d'app ne s'adresse qu'a une niche et pas a la masse. Si on compare au prix d'un dictionnaire papier ou d'un dictionnaire electronique c'est completement derisoire. 

En conclusion je ne suis pas du tout déçu de mon investissement. Cette app va m'aider a faire d'enormes progres dans l'apprentissage du vobulaire japonais notamment grace a la fonction geniale qui permet de faire ses propres sets de vocabulaire pour l'apprentissage et les tests en y ajoutant des mots au fur et a mesure.

L’application la plus chère, et pourtant la pire de l’app store !! La moitié de l’application est en français, l’autre en anglais pourtant leur site précise que tout est traduit. Pas de sauvegarde de votre avancée, donc si vous étiez à la leçon numéro 240 il faudra passer les 239 leçons à la main pour reprendre où vous en étiez. Pas d’échelle de niveau, on vous apprendra un mot de JLPT 5 au premier exercice puis un de JLPT 2 au deuxième. Bref n’achetez pas cette application…

Programm gut – Inhalt fragwürdig

Ich habe mir die App gekauft, weil sie eine willkommene Alternative zu den üblichen Flashcard Apps ist. Insbesondere die Möglichkeit, Antworten handschriftlich zu geben (auch wenn man sie dann selbst bewerten muss) finde ich hervorragend. Schade nur, dass die Kanji in einer Kaisho-Schrift, die heute in Japan vor allem gedruckt verwendet wird, und nicht einer Gyosho-Schrift präsentiert werden, an die sich japanische Handschriften eher anlehnen. (Das Kanji 「言」 hat in Japanisch vier horizontale Striche über dem 「口」, während die meisten Japaner es handschriftlich doch eher mit einem senkrechten oder gekrümmten obersten Strich und drei horizontalen Strichen über dem 「口」 schreiben.

Der mitgelieferte Inhalt aus den frei zugänglichen JMDICT and KANJIDIC (die auch in vielen anderen Apps stecken, wie z.B. Pierre-Philippe di Costanzos Kotoba) ist leider nicht uneingeschränkt zu empfehlen. Während wohl kein einziger Eintrag für sich streng genommen falsch ist, wird kein Unterschied zwischen typischen und eher exotischen Einträgen gemacht; auch werden die Vokabeln vollkommen kontextfrei präsentiert.

Richtig absurd sind die mitgelieferten Beispielsätze, die als Lückentext verwendet werden können: Stellt man das leichtest mögliche mitgelieferte Vokabelset ein (JLPT Level 4), soll man Sätze wie 「新車時３００万円した車も＿では３０万円位だそうですから、もう少し乗ろうと思います。」「君たちは学生なんだ、こんなことをやれるのは＿だけだ。」「＿を選ぶ時は冷静に」「飛行機は墜落寸前に＿に旋回した。」 vervollständigen.

Etwas ausgeglichen wird es dadurch, dass man eigene Vokabelsets mit Vokabel, Lesung und Übersetzungen am Computer erstellen und herunterladen kann. Leider geht das mit eigenen Beispielsätzen jedoch nicht.

Mit professionell redigiertem Inhalt würde ich "Japanisch" vier bis fünf Sterne geben. Verglichen mit anderen Apps wie Kotoba 0 €, ShinKanji 5,49 € oder Daijirin 10,49 € finde ich 11,99 € für Japanisch aber deutlich zu teuer.

### 1/5 — Completely useless - do not buy!

I just wasted a lot of money on this app, because the screenshots looked good and the description appeared to promise that the app actually tries to teach you something. However, that is not the case. There is no real learning mode. There is a "practice mode" (which does not deserve the name) where you can go through thousands of vocables and draw the corresponding kanji/kana. But that's it. The words are not packaged into lessons (only into the JLPT categories, which does not help a lot), so you literally feel as if you are learning all the words in the database at the same time. You can choose some "range" yourself, but that leaves you with an arbitrary set of words. There is practically no learning support coming from the app, and it is obvious that the developer has no idea how someone actually has to study vocables to make them stick in the brain.

The developer obviously just fed the huge public domain database into his app and did not make any effort whatsoever to package the vocables in some way to make the whole thing somehow digestible to a learner.

As a sidenote, the developer apparently never checked the database. The first word in the database is "yes", and the software claims that the japanese translation is "イェス". However, that is simply the japanese spelling of "yes". Weird.

**Developer response:** you can create and import your own practice and test sets in the app (e.g. a certain set of words from your text book). Also many other features and improvements were added over the years.

Pour ce prix la j'esperais un logiciel au point, malheuresement il n'en est rien.

Passons l'interface vieillote a des années lumières d'un japanese flip sortit il y a 2 ans.
Le problème principal concerne les test qui malgré les options proposés sont incapables d'afficher la prononciation, le tracé en kanji et la traduction en même temps.

Par exemple un test sur un mot en hiragana lorsque vous cliquez sur la réponse fera apparaitre son kanji ou sa traduction mais jamais les deux ensemble.

Il n'y a pas non plus d'exemple et certains mots ne sont pas traduits en français. On frise l'arnaque.

Prenez exemple sur japanese flip ils ont un produit fini et fonctionnel.

J'attends une mise à jour car en l'état et pour le prix c'est du foutage de gueule.

Je ne manquerai pas de rectifier mon avis si modification il y a.

Geldverschwendung. Vor allem keine 10€ wert.
Der Übungsmodus ist total unausgereift und nicht hilfreich. Höchstens nützlich als Lexikon.

It's priced higher than most other apps but I spend a lot of time studying so I'm willing to spend a little money for a good app. Unfortunately the functionality of kanji and Japanese LS is split between two apps and I don't get that at all. I study kanji when I study vocab and vice versa. I own both apps but they're useless without the other's functionality. I'm a bit annoyed and will use other apps to study instead.

This app works ok if you want to practice your handwriting, but thus far I have experienced some major bugs. First of all, it crashes a lot of the time if you click the solve button, and the multiple choice doesn't work at all. If you try to do multiple choice mode, then it displays the wrong kanji for the reading, and the wrong reading for the kanji. The kanji's it displays has that particular reading (quite literally), however, it's not the right vocabulary word. 

Due to this major issue, I cannot use this app. It's one of the most expensive too in its category.

I would return it if I could. I was really surprised and disappointed that the entries do not include verbs! I need to study verbs just as badly as I need to study nouns and adjectives so leaving them out is a huge omission. Conjugated forms would not be necessary, but please at least add the dictionary forms. Had I known verbs were not included I definitely would've purchased the cheaper Kanji LS instead... I am still considering purchasing it, but I'm put-off after spending so much on this program.

The best aspect of this program is definitely the writing input that enables you to check your handwriting and stroke count. I will continue to use it for studying vocabulary (which is misspelled as "vocablulary" on the menu, by the way...) and practicing kanji. The user interface is simple but effective. The option to upload your own vocabulary lists is extremely convenient and should be implemented in all the Japanese language programs! Hopefully the creator will update soon so that it is more practical for studying. Until then I cannot recommend purchasing it.

Die App (und die zugehörige Kanji App) sind einfach perfekt. Am Anfang war ich nicht überzeugt bis ich herausgefunden habe, dass man alles individuell einstellen kann. Gibt es für eine Vokabel zum Beispiel eine Kanji und eine Katakana Lesung, kann man auf die gewünschte tippen und es wird gemerkt, auch für die Tests. In den Tests kann man auch vieles individualisieren. Außerdem finde ich die Test-Arten toll, insbesondere das Testen nach Audio oder fehlende Zeichen einsetzen habe ich so noch nirgendwo gesehen.
Die Preise sind mehr als fair, für was man bekommt und es ist kein nerviges Abo Modell. 

Insgesamt bin ich dem Entwickler sehr dankbar für diese Apps!!

Einziges Feedback das ich hätte: manche Beispielsätze oder Wörter sind noch auf Englisch. Vielleicht kann man hier noch die Übersetzungen ausbauen.

Ich finde die App gut. Tut was es soll, alles in Ordnung.

P.S.: Würde mich über eine automatische Stricherkennung freuen, so müssten die Antworten nicht selbst überprüft werden, ist aber nur eine Anregung, aber auch so ist sie die top App zum Lernen japanischer Vokabeln.

After running into a few major issues with this app (which ended up being the fault of my device ) and emailing the developer I received immediate support. The app itself is smooth, simple, and fantastic for learning to write Japanese. This app is all about utility and it performs! There is a huge amount of content and many ways to test yourself and learn. The most unique and helpful feature that it offers is the ability to grade your own writing and stroke order in a step by step manner. There is no automatic writing detector to be picky and mark you wrong because the angle was "slightly off". This app makes studying and learning Japanese a breeze! It is an absolute must have for any learner! Thank you Jan for bringing this helpful tool to life! I don't have a single regret in purchasing this app and it's upgrade!

While it's a little overpriced, this app provides features not found in any of the other Japanese teaching apps I've tried. The ability to create your own word sets and import/export them is great, and the search engine is very well done. The testing side of things is not as good as iKanji Touch, but still decent.

Overall, a very good piece of software, the only things stopping a five star rating are the price and the test system.

Edit: With the recent acquisition of an iPad, I've found this app to be a rather lacking in that it only runs in portrait mode on an iPad (though at least it's had its graphics updated), which is very limiting. Guess I'll be sticking to using it on my iPhone only.

2nd Edit: Now handles rotation on the iPad, and has had the interface changed somewhat. And the Dropbox syncing should mean we don't keep losing all our data when updating in future...

Not too sure about Ryuu from Tokyo but I love this application. Vocab is divided by JLPT level and are learning how to write compound kanji. I recommend this application to all of my friends. Only suggestion is to have readings of unknown words in sentence test mode and to be able to write the kanji there instead of type it! 5 stars!!!

Die App ist genial, super gut zu bedienen und sehr umfangreich! Ein muss für jeden Japanisch Schüler!
Hatte am Anfang ein zwei kleine Probleme, hab eine E-Mail geschrieben und spitzen Support erhalten.

Verdiente 5 Sterne für die App und einen absolut verdienen 6ten Stern für die geduldige und schnelle Hilfe!!!!

Edit:

Dem WIEDERHULUNGSZEICHEN für Kanjis fehlt die STRICHREIHENFOLGE. Bitte ergänzen. Und es fehlt dem Wiederhulungszeichen ne wichtige Erklärung. Nämlich das die Japaner mit dem Zeichen das Pkural bilden. Zweimal das gleiche Zeichen schreiben würde kein Plural bilden.

The bad reviews people give apps is hilarious to me (although obviously not to the developers). Do these people really think they can go buy books that give you 1/10 the information you get here, plus the fact that there is no interactivity with books, and get said book(s) for like $5? Please. There are no perfect apps, everyone looks for certain things, but come on, just because a few of the things you want to see aren't included, doesn't mean that this isn't still a very, very good learning resource. 

Personally, for the example sentences, I would love to see all parts be selectable. So I can break down different parts, and get the fullest definition as well as see how multiple kanji phrases fit together as part of the larger context. This would be awesome for me (I've seen this available in Japanese by codefromtokyo). But just because this feature isn't available here yet (hint hint, wink wink), doesn't mean that this isn't still a very, very good app; because it is. 

If you think you can buy a book that offers what this app does, testing you and giving you the results, showing you how to draw each kanji, and then testing the same with immediate feedback, giving you flashcards used in a spaced repetition format, etc., then good luck. Let me know how that works out for you.

Diese App bietet eine gute Unterstützung für das tägliche Training der japanischen Sprache. Allerdings enthält es z.T. einige Grammatikfehler und bei mir scheint auch die Auswahl der Vokabelsets nicht richtig zu funktionieren, da ich z.B. bei der Auswahl JLPT 4 auch nach Wörtern aus dem Bereich JLPT 1 gefragt werde. Keine Ahnung, warum das geschieht, geht man in den Browser, taucht dieses Kanji oder die bestimmte Übersetzung gar nicht auf. Allerdings bietet das Programm eine Vielzahl an sehr abwechlsungsreichen Möglichkeiten, um Japanisch zu lernen. Genau wie bei Kanji LS finde ich die Möglichkeit, die Schreibweise zu trainieren, einfach fantastisch. Auch die Quizzes und die unterschiedlichen Auswahlmöglichkeiten, was abgefragt werden soll (Kanji, Lesung, Übersetzung etc.), ist super. Man kann dadurch sehr gezielt trainieren, statt nur auf eine Karte zu starren, die alle Informationen geballt enthält. Zusätzlich kann man auch hier über das Leitner-Karteikarten-System trainieren (d.h. es gibt 5 unterschiedliche Ordner, in den die abgefragten Karten wandern, eben je nachdem wie gut man im Quiz ist). Man kann auch aus den markierten Karten eine eigene Abfrage erstellen, aber keine neuen Karten hinzufügen (geht ja auch schlecht wg. der Strichfolgenabfrage).
