Zen Buddhism played a part in Japanese culture during the Edo Period and has a connection with manga history especially in the earliest parts. Some parts of manga also show this connection in panels with an empty street, or panels that focus on not having not much detail. ### 2/5 — Game Softlocked Me Into Not Being Able To Complete Turtle Hatching *2026-08-05, version 1.22.0* Japan Rural is a great game - don’t get me wrong, I’ve been playing since 2023, reached top 1% and it has been enjoyable the full way through. I was recently trying to complete the turtle egg hatching again, after last time reaching the beach , taking photos of the mother turtle and then immediately ran home to bed, ignorant of the fact that I had to stay up late. I then ran back down to the beach the following morning as fast as humanly possible, to find no turtle eggs, and disappointed me decided to wait until the next virtual in game year to try again. When I finally went back to the beach at night, I found no mother turtle, nothing to take photos of, which I took no notice of because I had done it before so why would I. But then, after waiting weeks to get back to late April and doing all the process again, I am sad to say that I cannot 100% Japan Rural if the turtle eggs do not appear. Love this game, but devs please fix this. ### 4/5 — help！！ *2026-08-04, version 1.22.0* All rivers and ponds in my save file have no fish, making fishing impossible. Fishing used to work normally, and I haven't modified the game—only a partial save file corruption occurred. Картофель приготовить невозможно (нужно ждать осень), а касивомоти не приготовить без пасты анко, которая готовится из фасоли, которую нужно собирать осенью. Пес голодный все лето. 2. Хотелось бы иметь возможность купить поливалку, чтобы она поливала полностью ряд грядки или всю грядку. 3. Было бы здорово иметь возможность прокачивать скорость ходьбы или менять на бег / купить велосипед. 4. было бы классно, если бы как и в майнкрафт можно было бы собирать несколько одинаковых стаков — сейчас можно собрать только 99 штук одного предмета. и не всегда можно заметить что ты уже собрал, например, 99 штук камней и из-за этого продолжаешь их собирать. а потом узнаешь, что последние несколько минут были потрачены в пустую. хотя бы предупреждение бы было «вы собрали максимум камней». ### 3/5 — Not a lot of things to do *2026-07-22, version 1.22.0* I am on my third year of this game. Barely a storyline, the npcs do not interact much. Only mc is doing all the work while others are so useless. The english pmo like could’ve put latin names for the fishes and creatures but instead developer is putting romanized japanese for it like who would understand it ### 4/5 — Nice game but there are some problems. *2026-07-17, version 1.22.0* It’s a good game, I love farming games and it allow too to learn about the costumes in the rural Japan, but no matter that there could be another problems and of course I don’t know if that if a limited line in the Arcade version, at least, there if a special problem that never allowed me to complete the whole calendar and there is not way to access the view of the Fuji Mountain no matter that the map and during the sale the Landlord said that. The character needs to walk a little faster. I like the game but the controls aren’t great. Having to tap the location you want your character to go to is annoying little annoying and the virtual gamepad doesn’t work sometimes. The character gets stuck just trying to walk around a bush it will stop walking. There are a lot of times where it won’t even register the gamepad. Trying to move around is just annoying especially with how big the map is. The character walks slow and having to go all the way around to get to the bottom of the map…. I’m only just starting and the bridge should have been one of the first things you could unlock. Overall, it’s not a bad game. Trying to make money is a little tough bc no matter how many fish you catch, you can have 15 of one kind of fish, but can’t sell bc you have to bundle it with a second fish. So basically you have to tell two separate kinds of fish together or you can’t sell at all. Same for the critters. Again it’s just annoying and exhausting. By the time I’m done trying to make money the whole day is gone bc of having to sleep to regain energy. Even if you have food that could restore your energy, your character can’t just eat it. They have to either be back at their house or have a picnic to be able to eat. ### 5/5 — One of the few genuine, no in-app purchase games left! *2026-07-06, version 1.21.0* I absolutely ADORE this game! First, it’s amazing that there’s no gimmicky in-app purchases and ZERO ADS EVER!!! It’s so cozy, unique, and actually teaches you a lot about Japan! Very relaxing and gives you a lot of opportunities to complete collections and achievements. That being said, I have been experiencing some issues with the game these past few days. The biggest issue is that whenever I pause the game and completely close the game, it almost always bugs out and bumps me back like 2-3 in-game days which is pretty annoying. The only time there’s a chance for it to not lose progress like that is if I’d just completed an event for the first time and the game saves, which happens less and less as you progress. My second critique is that I’m finding it near impossible to find all of the hidden items (not the ones in the chests, the ones that come from the ‘different colored dirt patches’ scattered throughout the map. I only have three left to find but I’ve searched the entire map. Is there any way you could add a hint or something to where to find those items? I can’t even find any info when I look it up. ### 5/5 — Wish I could rate this 6 stars *2026-07-06, version 1.21.0* This is probably the best game I have ever played. I love how there are different traditions you can take part in throughout the calendar and all the different mini games you can do! I love how cozy it is and I really enjoyed the stray cat and spirit inn updates. I can’t really think of anything bad to say about this game😁 I have some ideas for updates too: 1. What if when you go to the top of the mountain there’s a dragon that takes you to Mount Fuji and you have to climb up the mountain to get to the dragon so it can take you home. 2. What if in the seaside area you could take a boat to different islands to go fishing or maybe even go underwater. You could use fishing lures to get different fish. 3. What if there was a big forest. Maybe a bamboo forest with a temple or it could have a waterfall with a big cave behind it. 4. Add any more Japanese folklore or a mythical creature. If anyone likes these ideas please add it in your own review because with enough people the developers are sure to listen! The first time I just closed the app and lost about 6 months worth of progress. I figured that that was my fault by not exiting the game. The second time I left the game through the option bar and I was set back 2 months again. I’ve noticed there is some open ended things in the game like the booth during the summer festival, I’m hoping there’s an update very soon as I just completed everything you can get in the game excluding all the different medals which would take forever. I really love this game though and I highly recommend getting it, it also helped me learn more about Japanese culture which I really enjoyed.
