## What is Japanese Sentence Card?

Japanese Sentence Card turns real Japanese sentences into flashcards you actually remember.

Most flashcard apps drill isolated vocabulary. This one is built around whole sentences instead — the way you actually encounter and use Japanese, whether it's a line from a show, something a friend said, or a sentence from a textbook.

- Sentence-first cards: front (Japanese), back (other languages, e.g. English), with tags to organize by topic, source, or grammar point.
- Automatic furigana/romaji: type the Japanese sentence and furigana/romaji are generated for you instantly.
- Two ways to hear it: generated speech, or record the sentence in your own voice for pronunciation practice.
- Spaced repetition built in: cards are scheduled using FSRS, a modern spaced-repetition algorithm, so you review each sentence right before you'd forget it.
 - Daily reminders: set a time that works for you and get a gentle nudge to keep your streak alive.
 - Streaks and activity stats: new cards added, cards due tomorrow, review history, current streak, and time studied, all at a glance.
- Syncs across devices: log in and your cards, tags, and review history follow you.
- Once a tag has 50+ of your own cards, you can share it in community for other learners to download.

## Version history (last 3 releases)

### 1.2 — 2026-10-15

What's New
- Added a complete Basic Hiragana practice set (all 46 base characters plus dakuten/handakuten variations) to every new account's starter deck, alongside the original example sentences.

Improved
- Review sessions are quieter — audio no longer plays automatically when a card appears; tap the audio button whenever you want to hear it.
- Editing or deleting a card within a tag now keeps you in that same tag and scroll position, instead of jumping back to "All cards" — much easier when making several edits in a row.
- The sign-up confirmation screen now reminds you to check your Spam or Junk folder if the email doesn't show up right away.
- Improved compatibility with the newest iPhone models.

Fixed
- Fixed a bug that could prevent some new accounts' starter cards from saving correctly to the cloud.

### 1.1 — 2026-10-04

New
 - Continue reviewing: when more cards are due after a session, tap "Continue reviewing" right from the session-complete screen instead of navigating back through Home.
- Daily reminders: turn on a daily study reminder from your Profile and pick the time that works for you.
- Shareable Community links: tapping a shared link to a Community tag now opens directly to that tag in the app.

Improved
- Fixed an issue where accounts with very large collections (1,000+ cards) could see fewer cards than expected after syncing.
- Imported decks now get their readings (romaji/furigana) filled in noticeably faster.
- Behind-the-scenes reliability improvements to Premium subscription syncing.
