### 5/5 — Learning Japanese

*2018-05-13*

I downloaded this app to help me learn some Japanese for a vacation. The app has a lot more than I expected. The translator works great! I can enter any phrase and get back the results instantaneously. The dictionary is very complete and includes lots of examples. You can lookup words by typing them in the search bar or using voice which is a good way to practice pronunciation. I like the fact that I can tap on any word or example and hear it pronounced. It might be nice to have phonetic pronunciation hints too but the audio is more useful. There are lots of other features I am discovering in this app.

### 5/5 — I love this app!

*2018-05-13*

I downloaded heaps of Japanese apps and have found this one is the best. You do need internet connection, but the app lets you star particular phrases for when you need them. I find it great that once I translated one word, the app echoed back a complete list with multiple translations and eg's. Highly recommend if you're an Aussie like me needing some extra help with what is already a tough language to learn!

### 5/5 — Great for Translating!

*2018-05-08*

Translator is very natural and has proper English, unlike a lot of translators out there. Love the verb conjugator and phrasebook, which is really helpful to quickly look up conjugated words and phrases. Definitely will being using.

### 5/5 — Don’t go to Japan without this app!

*2018-04-23*

I go to Japan every year for a ski trip with my family. This app is incredibly useful. It has everything you need to get around easily from trains, restaurants, hotels and taxis. It’s easy to use and has transformed our holidays! The pronunciation tool is especially helpful!!

Subscription scam

**Developer response:** Hi Mendoji,
Our Japanese Translator + is freemium. You can download it and use all features with ads. But you also have an option to upgrade it with paid subscription so you can access extended dictionary with more examples, bigger Phrasebook with 256 phrase pairs, extended Verb Forms, and no ads. Can you please email info@vidalingua.com, "Attention Marc", and let's work together to make our app perfect?

There are too many words and phrases that native Japanese speakers never use! How do they think it's a proper dictionary application?

### 3/5 — Camera translation not working

*2021-02-01*

Whenever I open up the translation, the app crashes

**Developer response:** Hello,
The best approach for app crashing issues is to try to force reboot the iPhone by holding down the Power button and Home button until the device flashes the Apple logo. It’s very important to me that we fix the problem. Can you please email support@vidalingua.com, Attention Marc, so I can make sure the issue is resolved for you?

### 5/5 — Reference tools for Learning Japanese

*2020-08-24*

I spent some time working in Tokyo and my Japanese was pretty good by the end of my stay. Now that I'm back in the US I don't get that many chances to speak Japanese so I rely on learning tools like apps.
Japanese Translator + is a good app that is complementary to other learning resources because it has a collection of reference tools.
The translator does full sentence translations that are accurate for the most part. No machine translator is perfect but this one seems to be as good or better than other popular choices. The dictionary is integrated into the translator so if you look up a single word, you get numerous entries such as part of speech, multiple translations and usage examples. That's an advantage over most translators. You can annotate dictionary words too, haven't seen that in other apps, comes in handy for some words.

The app includes thousands of verb conjugations. Verbs are important to mastering a language so this comes in handy. There is a multiple choice vocab quiz feature and flashcards. You can limit flashcards to dictionary favorites. Would be good if the devs added that to the vocab quizzes. The phrasebook is a bit sparse but you can add your own phrases from the Translator.
I would recommend this app to students or travellers.

**Developer response:** Hi Kip,
Glad to hear that you find our app reliable as a reference tool. Thank you for recommending our app to other users.
I really appreciate you took the time to write a review! I will inform our product team of your suggestions about vocab quizzes for consideration in updates.

### 5/5 — Learn Japanese

*2018-07-22*

Was looking for a good English to Japanese translation app and found this,it’s really helpful and better than what I was looking for, lots of words in the free app and phrases,it covers lots of different situations you come across in life, the dictionary vast,it’s amazing I think I’m also getting better at English to lol, not tried the paid part of the app yet but I’m guessing there’s more phrases and info there, altogether it a really good learning tool,it also pronounces the words for you if you want. The app also is on Twitter if you need help with anything.

**Developer response:** Thanks Busyguy147. I really appreciate that you took the time to write a review!

### 5/5 — Helpful for translation and pronunciation

*2018-06-04*

Prepping for a trip to Japan and have found this app helpful for learning basic phrases and prepping for minor social interactions. !! 🇯🇵

### 5/5 — Fantastic App!

*2018-05-24*

Comprehensive dictionary with slang words and expressions. Dictionary pronounces words in both languages with a setting for pronunciation speed and accents. You can add notes to dictionary entries. The phrasebook includes useful categories like Eating Out and Asking Directions. You can add your own phrases to the Phrasebook. The is a vocabulary quiz feature to practice with.

### 5/5 — Best translator app yet!!

*2018-05-14*

I am a University student and I spend some of my holidays in Japan. I have found this app to be so easy and helpful for getting around with my poor linguistic skills. You can look up words in the dictionary really fast with voice search in either language. Of course my pronunciation isn't very good in Japanese so I just switch to the iPhone Japanese keyboard. But once I have mastered the pronunciation of a word, I try to look it up with voice search. If my iPhone gets it right I know my pronuncation must be ok. It took me a while to find the place to set the audio speed. It's the speaker icon for anybody reading this. I especially like the flash card feature which is easy to use when I’m on the bus. Would recommend to all my friends who want to learn Japanese in the quickest and easiest way! :)
