## Newest reviews (4 of 24)

### 5/5 — Great daily review

*2019-12-20, version 1.2.7*

Written and spoken japanese words, also used in several example sentences. Perfect to dip into for frequents reviews.

### 5/5 — very good

*2019-11-14, version 1.2.7*

surprisingly detailed! makes it very easy to learn a new Japanese word every day! 10/10, would recommend.

### 5/5 — widget

*2019-09-30, version 1.2.7*

LOVE that there’s a widget!! just what i was looking for for casual vocab accumulation

### 4/5 — I like it

*2018-10-16, version 1.2.3*

It is very good that the app gives multiple examples, because my first language is english even with the vocabulary I still at times don't understand the way to use it in a sentence in japanese. I think that is great. The thing that needs improvement is that when i am using the app it often gives me a notification, saying the word of the day and the notification is actually from the day before. So they should fix that.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Notifications don’t work

*2019-10-30, version 1.2.7*

Keep getting the same notification each day. Fix this otherwise the app is useless.

### 2/5 — Poorly designed

*2025-05-25, version 1.4.6*

There are many glitches and odd choices in this app. Like the inability to hide romaji. When you’re a native English reader, you can’t just turn off your English eyes. Even if you are perfectly capable of reading kana. If there is romaji I will accidentally read it AS I’m reading the kana!! No!!
And there’s no need to have kana + kanji, then only kana, then romaji. Just do kana +kanji with furigana (changeable in settings) and optional romaji.

Also, the daily question says I’ve learned the word before. I usually haven’t. It will also glitch most days. The answer will be “Potato” and it will show a picture of a tiger. With an ad covering half the image.

### 2/5 — Months are out of order!

*2024-03-16, version 1.4.2*

I don't know why but the months are out of order. Can you fix it?

### 2/5 — Notifications Don’t Work

*2023-05-12, version 1.3.13*

Daily notifications don’t work, no English spelling for word of the day, have to hard close the app each time for new word of the day to show or else it stays on the previous day’s word of the day

### 2/5 — Same words over and over

*2019-09-07, version 1.2.7*

85% of the time this app tells me the Japanese word for vacuum or tongue. In other words, the app is kind of useless. But i gave it a 2 star rating because it seems like an easy problem for the developers to fix. Also, because the app has literally THE BEST audio pronunciation i have ever heard, incredibly natural sounding voice translations! I dk how they do it, but i wish all apps had access to the technology they use!

### 2/5 — Crashes repeatedly

*2018-10-10, version 1.2.3*

Keeps crashing every time I set notifications. Paid for no ads, (¥240) still getting ads.
Then crashed. Deleted and reinstalled several times. Still crashing.
Has potential, but needs bug fixes.

### 2/5 — Not very good

*2018-08-11, version 1.2.2*

I just keep getting the same word popping up over and over unless I actually open the app. It’s a bit annoying

### 3/5 — It’s decent

*2019-06-02, version 1.2.6*

It’s a good app but when I get the notification it’s the same word every time.

### 4/5 — 5 star app, LOTS of ads.

*2025-05-03*

Overall, this app is extremely helpful for learning and practicing vocabulary. Not only do you have the word of the day, but you can save words to study lists and even study random words.

My only complaint is that it feels like an ad plays every other time I hit a button. The “no ads” purchase isn’t that expensive, but considering everything this app offers is almost the same as ad free resources on Tatoeba, I still don’t consider it worth buying.

### 4/5 — Please, make possible to hide the romaji!

*2023-12-20, version 1.4.1*

It's a pretty good app, with numerous grammatical examples. It’s so good to have complex sentences as well, besides the basic sentences. But it’s necessary to be able to hide the romaji in order to have less distractions, and avoid visuallly skipping the kana

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — AMAZING!

*2026-05-27, version 1.4.10*

I actually really like this app! I’m learning Japanese right now so it’s better to learn a new word everyday! Especially in their kanji forms!
-one question though! Could we maybe add widgets to the app? Then it’d be easier to put it on my screen so people don’t forget! And it’d be extremely helpful.

### 5/5 — Widget Function

*2025-09-18, version 1.4.8*

I love the widget function of the old version. As it’s updated, that function is gone. I wanna make a request if you could reinstall it.

### 5/5 — 5 star app, LOTS of ads.

*2025-05-07, version 1.4.6*

Update: it’s a $3 one-time purchase not $3 monthly subscription, that’s a lot better deal than I thought. change your review to five stars.

Overall, this app is extremely helpful for learning and practicing vocabulary. thank Not only do you have the word of the day, but you can save words to study lists and even study random words.

My only complaint is that it feels like an ad plays every other time I hit a button. The “no ads” purchase isn’t that expensive, but considering everything this app offers is almost the same as ad free resources on Tatoeba, I still don’t consider it worth buying.

### 5/5 — Very useful

*2024-10-31, version 1.4.2*

Productive app for learning Japanese. I hope the database contains not just 365 words only

### 5/5 — Enjoy!

*2022-06-11, version 1.3.11*

Very much enjoy learning pronunciation, and a new language! Cool user interface and great browser add on to Opera browser or any other browser. Thanks!!

### 5/5 — Simply the best

*2021-04-12, version 1.3.4*

I don’t know how they even squeezed in sentence content, but it is the icing on the cake. It’s enormously helpful that not only am I learning a word, but I am also seeing it in placement, with syntax, with Kanji and simplified in Hiragana. Love it, love it, love it.

### 5/5 — MsLadybugXOXO

*2021-04-07, version 1.3.4*

This app is helped me so much with practicing my grammar and Japanese word order. It gives me examples to practice with so I would be able to recognize similar patterns when speaking. It’s definitely giving me more confidence in speaking and it is very convenient to have my phone remind me to study with a prepared lesson for me.

### 5/5 — Simple and works

*2020-09-11, version 1.2.12*

It does what you would expect of it: Notifications daily, different writing versions for example use sentences (kana, romaji, English) and audio playback. Simple is what’s needed, thank you for delivering that.

### 5/5 — An app that you want

*2020-06-09, version 1.2.12*

It’s really good for learning Japanese , I really love the design . Very useful

### 5/5 — Ii desu し

*2020-05-29, version 1.2.12*
