Great value. Perfect app for all ages. Great way to introduce great music, great musicians, and the great American art form of jazz. I had misconceptions about jazz music until I saw it performed live. The musicianship, energy, and love poured into the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra performances and their guest artists is transformational. ### 5/5 — Loving it! *2023-03-07* Enjoying the archived content, looking forward to more to come! It started before 1949 but got me rolling with first the music of Charlie Parker n Dizzy Gillespie n delivered Miles in a cool format which I enjoyed because at my age, around 17 ot 28, I thought I was cool. At first I got thrown out of jazz clubs in Brooklyn where I lived because I ordered scotch n bourbon st the same time as something to drink. Kenny Durham was embarrassed one night when s customer broke a glass loudly by mistake during Durban’s solo. LTer hr complained about the lack of venues for jazz. I did got to Birdland n listened to Bud Powell, MJQ, Cannonball…and others before I joined the US Army n got stationed in France… In Paris, I saw everybody who came to Paris from 1955 thru 1957… at Camelion, St Germain des Pres, Club Tabou, Mars Bar…and had to leave Paris to go to college which was why I joined the army. College, grad school, wife, kids, overseas assignments, but still jazz at Bradley’s or other clubs in the Village…and then when I came back from Hong Kong, Gordon David n Diane Coffee had s breakfast n I met this young musician. Wynton Marsalis. He stuck his hand out at the buffer table n introduced himself to an old banker at that time. I love jazz n the elegance of the notes, the history of its musicians n the impact on American culture. ### 5/5 — Jazz live is part library part live show *2022-10-15* What a wonderful app that livestreams performances from Dizzy’s & Jazz at Lincoln Center’s main stages. The archive videos are fantastic addition to the library of the app. ### 4/5 — Love the content; still needs improved functionality *2022-10-14* Love the content. If there is a way to stop stream and hold place, I can’t find it. Sometimes life happens and I really want to restart where I stopped. The app is really easy to manage and clean looking as well ### 4/5 — Missing some functionality *2019-12-15, version 1.9.4* Recently changed from Android to iPhone. The Android version of this app worked beautifully. All titles were visible and it was easy to move back to the menu at any point. With the Apple version, only half of the titles show up on the menu, and the only way to go back to the menu is to close the app and restart it. Some kind of “back” button/feature would be a great addition! ### 4/5 — What a wealth of great music for jazz fans! *2019-11-30* Imagine being able to see everything at the Rose and Dizzy’s without having to travel to NYC! This is Lincoln Center’s crazy good gift to you. Knocking down this gift horse by a star, though, because of serious navigation issues. If there is a way to back out of the selected video to the main menu, I haven’t figured it out yet. Thus, if I want to get back to the main menu, I have to close the app entirely and start over. Also, the app opens only in portrait and it’s not clear that the video plays in the more appropriate landscape mode - it does - so, like so many others, the app clearly needs to be optimized for iPad. ## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated) ### 1/5 — no customer service *2026-08-01* impossible to get help when there are issues with live performances. you are sent in an endless loop of useless FAQs. ### 1/5 — Enormous, disappointing loss of quality *2026-03-17* Used to be a wonderful chance for jazz fans not living in or in longer living in NY to listen to JALC. Unfortunately, with the start of the new season, there have been virtually no new additions to the On Demand library. Further, the music from Dizzy's sounds like it's coming from a deep cave. Speakers and singers are almost inaudible. There is only one camera angle, and the set is dominated by bright, extremely distracting lights hung near the windows behind and above the performers. What happened? BRING BACK WYNTON!!!!! ### 1/5 — Difficult to unsubscribe *2024-08-27* No phone number to call or chat for customer service. I expected more from Lincoln Center. I even paid the $10 to watch my kid perform at Essentially Ellington. I turned it on and the app switched me to a previous performance without notice. Then I had missed his live performance and went to the video feed he was in, I couldn’t rewind. The options were way better and friendlier to people like me, who not always can catch artists while “ live”. Now the majority is from live only. I miss most of Dizzy’s as my schedule does not allow to catch while live. Tonight as I tried to watch the talented Hamilton de Holanda, a technical glitch got the presentation stuck. Absolutely frustrating. ### 2/5 — Freeze Up *2022-09-26* Picture keeps freezing up when I play from my Ipad to an LG tv.
