When inputting the colors of pencils, all was great because I have mostly Prismacolors. However, I would like to add more than just the marker brands shown. I have Promarkers so all was fine there but, I used "custom markers" for my Windsor and Newton pigment markers. It was inconvenient to not be able to type in the color names myself. I had to pick the closest color name from the Prismacolor stock names. I thought maybe I might be able to add another custom group for for the Spectrum Noir series but alas no. Same issue with “Paints". I have oil, acrylic, gouache, and watercolor paints. It would be handy to be able to have multiple subcategories with the ability to change the title and ability to type in color names yourself if available colors are not provided. Other than the color hiccup, I found everything else about the app thoroughly enjoyable, easy to navigate and all around intuitive to a new user. ### 4/5 — I have some suggestions *2019-09-21, version 2.0.8* I think this app is good. It has a large variety of prompts and can help get out of a creative slump. It has some wacky suggestions that really get your brain juices flowing. The environment generator could be better, but its alright. The incremental challenge can be fun. But my issue lies in the Custom Generator. That is my favorite part of the app, but I feel like I can’t input enough items to each list. My biggest issue with the app is that the Custom Generator is too small. ### 5/5 — Amazing! *2018-12-27, version 23* This app is amazing. Great ideas for artists with a lack of inspiration. It is challenging and has brought me much joy. A great purchase for anyone who wants several ways to enjoy making a variety of art. Some ideas are silly and others are actually challenging. This app has so many applications- ideas, games for groups and for challenging even the best of artists. ### 5/5 — Creatively Amazing *2018-11-14, version 23* I absolutely love this app. It’s a great way to come up with new characters. I have never had more fun arting than playing on this app. I have drawn so many new types of characters. Some of them super silly, making it hard not to laugh as I’m drawing. I can not get sexy jazza mode to work :( that makes me sad :( ### 5/5 — Great app *2018-10-26, version 23* Really good when you dont know what to draw, want to warm up, or just want to sketch. I've been having fun filling my sketch book with the characters the app describes. I've added my "OCs" to the custom list and added some situations and other things as well. I do have a few changes I would like to see. In the custom section, when editing a list, if you delete a prompt the app will scroll you to the bottom of the list which can be annoying if you've made some pretty long ones. Another thing is I would like to see the scroll bar be bigger. I use the app on my tiny iPhone SE so the bar can be hard to use sometimes. Adding more prompts would be cool too. Overall, love the app and would recommend to other artists. 👍 ### 5/5 — X optimization need *2018-10-02, version 23* I love using this app for idea generation since im not a very inspired person most times, plus it's time of fun for drawing absolute shinanigans. However, since getting the iPhone x, I've noticed that the screen is not the correct size and I lose bit off the top of the app. Nothing app breaking so far that I've found, but I'd like to see what I'm missing. ### 4/5 — App won't open? *2018-07-31, version 21* Got the app. Money came out of my bank. It downloaded. But now when I tap on it it pulls up a black screen for a little less than a second and closes back down immediately. And it's not showing up in my apps category in my settings. I'm not sure what to do. Still wanna keep it of course, but it's not opening. Anyone know what the problem is and it how to fix it??? ### 5/5 — Awesome for all skill levels! *2018-07-18, version 21* This is an app for any level skilled artist, as long as you remember that the point is to have fun and make progress on your art along the way. I worked to get money for this app since I don’t have a credit card and my parents won’t buy this kind of things. And I don’t regret anything. As long as you enjoy drawing and having fun, then get it. 👍 ### 4/5 — Excellent! But one small issue... *2018-06-26, version 2* I just got this app and it's great! I would definitely recommend this to any artist who doesn't know what to do during their free time. I was just having one small issue, though. When I tried customizing the amount of colours in the marker challenge, it didn't let me click any of the other options, so now I'm just stuck with the 1 marker challenge. I don't know if it's just my really old iPad or if it's an actual bug in the app. But other than that this is really fun! ### 5/5 — Jazza’s Arty Games *2018-06-08, version 2* This app is incredible. I am an amateur artist and this app helps gives me ideas for my art which is very helpful. I have been a long time fan of Jazza and his art, and this app helps me draw like him.(Well I’m not as good as jazza himself). I love this app so much . I also am an author and this app helps me create characters and lots more. Overall this is the best art app on the market! ### 5/5 — Color Challenge Problem *2018-06-07, version 2* Am I the only one who’s having problems getting the color challenge to work? I thought if I deactivated & deactivated the app, the color challenge might work again, but no luck! I have been following Jazza for years on you tube & he inspires me to draw. This app has helped me get through my sketch on certain days & has given me ideas with my own art! If you like drawing cartoons for a hobby or even professionally then you’ll love this app! I am glad I got it because it’s worth every penny! ### 5/5 — Not just for artists.. *2017-12-12, version 2* Obviously this app is designed for people who draw paint sketch and do other forms of picture type of art. However, I am not talented any of those areas of the artistic world but I still love using this app as a writer. It’s good to come up with characters and scenarios for writing sprints and when your brain just can’t come up with anything. It’s good to help get the creative juices flowing, and it’s really good at helping you create random diverse characters. I think a lot of times we tend to write and create things that are like ourselves and or that we are used to, and using the random choices on this app really makes you stop way outside your comfort zone and come up with something that you aren’t used to whether that’s a character Who has a different race or maybe has a disability, or is a different age or possibly somehow may be a different religion? All of those things are randomly generated which means that you have to step out of your comfort zone and step out of what you know to in my case right but in most people‘s cases draw or paint something new. I really love this app I love that it’s fun and it brings out the creativity and its users. I love that it both makes you think and takes the decision to think completely out of your hands. And I just love that it’s fun and easy to use! ### 5/5 — Fantastic app! *2017-11-16, version 2* I’ve been a long subscriber of Draw With Jazza, and I’ve particularly loved the Character Design sessions. I bought this app AND the book “Draw with Jazza: Creating Characters” because I’m planning on becoming a digital artist (revolving around the characters). This app is awesome! I do have a couple suggestions that can make this an even better app: Save. I think we should be able to save the generated resources (like Character Design; there were really cool characters it came up with, but you can’t go back to it again), so I believe we should get a save feature. Another thing is to refine the entire app; the buttons just look a bit weird to me, and the paint splat is sorta out of theme with the rest of the app being cartoonish. ## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated) ### 3/5 — Fun games, art supplies needs work *2022-01-12, version 2.1.6* The games, except the color game, are great. The limited color challenge though is hindered by the limitations of the materials section. I recently got jazza’s pro art box and had a bunch of ohuhu markers before. I can’t load any of these in - I’ve made best-guesses using the custom option but even that is limited. I’d love to see the ability to change the numbering on the custom option - so even if the color match wasn’t perfect I could still find the right color to torment my friends with limited color challenges! Also with that the ability to add custom colors multiple times - I have markers that are very close in color but have different identifiers. Being able to adjust that would mean I could add multiple copies of near-enough purple and still be able to differentiate them! ### 3/5 — It’s okay! *2019-02-28, version 23* I mean this app is okay! I heave not noticed any crashing or glitches yet which is great! But I have a little problem so when I want something to time me I’ll go out and go on ibis and then when I go back to check how much time I have it’s till at the time I left the game so that means when I’m drawing it’s not timing me. But I like how it your drawing on paper you could watch how much time you have as you draw. One more thing is that I’ve noticed that the thing it gives you to draw are extremely hard sometimes. And this is my I rate this app a three star game! ### 3/5 — Good, but had problems. *2017-06-07, version 2* I have an iPhone 4s and I got this app to give myself drawing challenges. I don't know if it is my phone or it is the app, but when I go to the marker/paint/colored pencil select it doesn't let me scroll down. This is frustrating because I would like to select the Copic markers I have, but I can only select the ones in the B series. Other than that, the app is great. I think it is an awesome way to practice and have fun doing art. ### 3/5 — Fun app, cool concept, one problem *2016-09-14, version 2* Love the app and all its features however the inputting of colors is a bit odd, it worked great for my Copic markers but when I went into custom markers, it was not as customizable as I expected. I have spectrum noir markers and it was impossible to put them in the customizable category. Maybe if you could make it so that you can write the names or numbers of the markers yourself that would be great. Also, and I've noticed this in another review, when I go to generate colors it doesn't combine all of my markers it generates only copics, then, when I uncheck the copics I am able to generate my other markers. ### 3/5 — I love it, but it's so slow! *2016-06-10, version 2* Unsure if it's just my problem or not, but the app is ridiculously slow. Trying to customize anything is a nightmare because it refuses to scroll and it takes forever to get to where I want to be. Even the buttons don't work sometimes. Maybe it's just my iPod not having enough space? But it's barely a third full anyway. Hopefully updates will fix the speed? If not I might have to remove and reinstall it. ### 4/5 — Needs an Update *2022-09-07, version 2.1.6* I enjoy using the app. I use it for generating character design ideas. It seems like it hasn’t been updated in a while, and it definitely needs to be updated. A lot of the random prompts have grammatical errors and many don’t make sense. I also teach, and I would like to use this app for student assignments. ### 4/5 — I love all of it… except one thing. *2021-09-03, version 2.1.6* The app is awesome. I have a very hard time thinking of what to draw and this helps me out a ton. However I am not the best artist and I don’t have the best supplies. The alcohol markers I use are from ohuhu and since the list of markers isn’t put into the app, I am unable to do the color challenge. What I suggest is that the Jazza team adds more of the quality brands of alcohol markers (especially the one the got 2nd place in Jazza’s marker madness, or they can make it so the user can input their own marker number, name, and hue. Other then that, the idea of the app is amazing and totally worth the price. Totally recommend this to everyone. ### 4/5 — Love this app but... *2020-06-25, version 2.1.1* We have really loved using this app. It is not only great for being artistic but coming up with characters for storytelling and role playing. My seven year old loves the scribble challenges and I like the character creator and custom generator. I would really like to use the color challenge but it is very limited on the color/material customization. I would like to be able to put in my sharpie colors, my sons crayon and colored pencils etc. there needs to be a more customizable materials section (like in the custom generator) then it would be a 5 star app for sure ### 4/5 — Cool, but annoying that it’s just man and woman *2020-03-14, version 2.1.1* Would love some of the character prompts to include non-binary people. It’s an easy fix, just put in the word “person” where you would put “man” or “woman” so it’s a bit more open. Also don’t be afraid to put traditionally masculine traits in for woman or person, or vise versa with feminine. Gender’s so fluid it’s unbelievable. You’ll make some of your younger nb viewers pleasantly surprised, and make the older ones who aren’t used to representation very happy. Then boom, no complaints. ### 4/5 — Thank you to the creators for updating the app! *2019-11-13, version 2.1.1* I originally purchased this app a month ago and it would never open on my phone. As promised, now that the app is finally working, I have changed my review score! Thank you to the developers for hearing us and fixing the app. :) I have fiddled with the app a bit now and look forward to breaking it in! A suggestion for the future I would have is for the paint section, I would love a watercolor section with pigment info so we can individually pick our paints out. If not that, then just an expanded color section in general would be fantastic! I think when there are more color options this app will be a 5 stars for me! Otherwise, the app seems pretty polished and looks to be a lot of fun! I look forward to using the scenario generator and the color challenge. I love how there are so many interesting challenge to really put your drawing skills to work! The scribble challenge in particular interests me. I think this will be an awesome tool to help budding artists grow and seasoned artists to flex their muscles. ## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated) ### 5/5 — Great app *2022-07-13, version 2.1.6* I love being able to challenge my artist skills, the variety of prompt generators make it fun and creative. The only thing I would recommend is for the creators of the app add a prompt generator for creatures/animals that could be real or fantasy. That would generate random creatures with scenarios or habitats. In order to help practice how to draw animals. That is what I use the custom generator the most for. Other then that I love the app and can’t wait for future updates with more prompt generators! ### 5/5 — Limited materials *2021-04-09, version 2.1.6* I love the app and how easy it makes you challenge your art. But it doesn’t make it easy to add certain materials that there are many brands for like markers and colored pencils. I have master’s touch alcohol markers and I can’t even find something close to the names and numbers on the markers. I also would like for the pens to have be able to add the different sizes like 0.4 and 0.8. The same thing for graphite pencils. The games are really fun and constantly push you out of your comfort zone, I’ve been able to experiment with different styles and push into more creative artworks without just falling into the same old routine of drawing one thing over and over. The app itself works well and is constantly being improved on. A flaw that’s hard for me to get past is that my markers, which a lot of people I know own, TouchFive’s, aren’t listed in the tools section, and it’s way too much of a hassle to try and find color pairings for 80+ markers by hand.
