The JBL Pro Connect app is an accessibility desert: unlabelled buttons, faders that do not respond to VoiceOver, and a purely visual interface that ignores basic assistive navigation guidelines. As a professional musician, I rely on precise sound adjustments, but JBL's disregard for accessibility forces me to seek competing brands that offer physical controls or apps that respect the user. I appeal to the developers: update the code so that screen readers can identify the commands. I found the amp is running V6 firmware and THIS is the app for that firmware. If yours is on V5 firmware or lower, use the other but it will not work with V6 firmware. I allowed it to do the firmware update and after about 15 minutes it said it was at 100%. Then the app crashed. The speaker still shows the old firmware but no matter what I do I can’t connect to it from the app any more. I’ve spent two days back and forth in emails with JBL support and they can’t fix it. ### 1/5 — Firmware failure. App just crashes. *2026-07-01, version 02.04.02* I want to love this speaker system, but right from the get-go the experience has been very frustrating due to this horrible app. It does not seem able to play Bluetooth music even when I connect, so I looked to the connect Pro app, which told me the firmware needed updating before it could do anything. Great. I begin the firmware update process, wait 15 minutes or so for it to download and install… and the app crashes. No indication of anything on the actual speaker, Same Old firmware version, so I try again; same result. Meanwhile despite having two USB ports on the speaker I am told the firmware cannot be updated in any way other than using the app. I will be plugging in some equipment to try using it for its intended purpose, but the initial experience has been terrible. ### 1/5 — The app stinks *2026-06-22, version 02.04.02* Well, the old app is still posted in the App Store. The app offers a lot of controls including different reverb and delay setting as well as ducking.
