### 2/5 — Would be great if it would stay paired

*2026-05-18, version 4.3*

I would be fine with this if it would stay paired. I can control the volume and which speaker groups are working, which works fine for me in my RV. The issue is that it will not stay paired. The device shows in my Bluetooth apps on my iPhone, and when I launch the app, it tries to connect., But it will never connect. I end up having to reset the Head unit, go through the pairing process again, and start from scratch virtually every time I want to use it. No updates in years. Very poor performance from that point of view.

### 2/5 — Horrible App

*2024-01-07, version 4.3*

This app is not user friendly at all. Never updated and fairly useless with my unit. What a disappointment for a Jensen product.

### 2/5 — Very annoying app!!!

*2023-07-21, version 4.3*

I like the app well enough, as far as controlling the radio from my phone goes, but even when the radio is Off, and I don’t have the jControl app running, it pesters me every thirty minutes or so with the message “jControl App would like to connect to your Jensen radio” or words to that effect. Even when I click on “Ignore”, it just keeps sending me this message. It is annoying to the point of being infuriating, and the next thing in my day is to uninstall the jControl app. My advice: skip it!!

### 2/5 — Rube Goldberg contraption

*2023-06-29, version 4.3*

Like the radio its an overcomplicated mess, terminology that makes no sense to a user and setup/operating instructions that were a joke but somehow got incorporated, the engineers are still laughing that corporate released it. App is rarely updated and when it is consumer complaints aren’t addressed. The app and the radio are both dinosaurs from the 1990’s but survive because there isn’t any real competitors in the RV segment unlike the automotive segment. Bluetooth itself is just a one way connection, your phone to the radio, radio won’t transmit to your headphones, you’ll need a bluetooth adapter for that task. The radio model doesn’t really matter, the improvements are cosmetic at best, they change the size and move the buttons around but the basic technology never changes.

### 1/5 — Completely Broken

*2022-07-19, version 4.3*

I have never reviewed an app before. This was so bad and disappointing that I felt I had to. The JWM72A head unit itself is fine apart from the fact that it doesn’t have Bluetooth. I know it says it does but I have tried connecting through 2 iPhones, 1 MacBook, 2 android phones and a windows PC in any convoluted sequence and it simply does not work. I can’t believe I wasted 2 hours screwing with this thing. If you need Bluetooth and are purchasing an RV, you will need to account for replacing this thing right off the bat.

### 1/5 — TRASH!

*2022-07-14, version 4.3*

Definitely in the top 5 of worst apps I’ve ever downloaded. Can’t connect to the head unit. Links provide for help are broken. Complete waist of time.

### 1/5 — Bluetooth issue aggravating

*2022-07-04, version 4.3*

I love everything about this stereo except the Bluetooth. Once I connect,
It works flawlessly until I have to leave with my phone. When I return, the Bluetooth says “device not found” EVERY TIME. I then have to go into settings, forget the device, set the JM6WA to “discover” mode, wait for my phone to find it, and connect. This happens every time I leave and return. Every other Bluetooth device I own remembers the connection and immediately reconnects when my phone is near it. Frustrating!

### 1/5 — Nice …In theory

*2022-05-18, version 4.3*

I’ve got a supported Jensen JWM9A unit in my RV and this app will not connect to the unit 90% of the time - even when successfully paired and connected via Bluetooth and actively streaming music from the connected iOS device (thereby proving the Bluetooth connection is established and operational).

Something is fundamentally wrong with this app. This problem persists on multiple iOS devices, thereby pointing the problem squarely back to the app. You can have all of the best features built into your app, but if it relies on Bluetooth and fails to reliably establish a Bluetooth data channel, there’s really no point.

That said; when it does randomly connect, the control set is well featured and each control behaves as expected, albeit with a slight lag.

I would give this review zero stars if that were an option.

### 2/5 — Doesn't support all inputs of a JMW72

*2022-03-29, version 4.3*

I wired the tv to the rear aux, but the app doesn't select the aux inputs

### 1/5 — Completely inappropriate

*2022-01-30, version 4.3*

A real piece of crap. It never finds the radio so it can connect, buttons do no work well, not user friendly. It says a lot about how little the company cares about its brand and clients. Jensen would be better off retiring this piece of very old software.

### 1/5 — Have to unpair and repair each time

*2021-12-25, version 4.3*

If you pair your phone to the stereo to play something, all seems well. Then you use the app or the button to turn the stereo off. Yet the phone stays connected and tries to play any audio through the stereo. Even if you click Disconnect on the Bluetooth menu. Only way to stop this is to forget the device. Every single time. So useless.

### 1/5 — Update this app

*2021-09-18, version 4.3*

The app is somewhat functional but loses BT connectivity every time I pull out the RV. It is old technology. Come on Jensen. Be better.

### 1/5 — Its a joke

*2021-06-27, version 4.3*

Just like the in-commnad systems in RV’s, this app is a joke as well. Oh and hey……its the same developers……oh and hey again…..minimum to zero support and updates, how bout that ASA, thanks for the junk and wasting peoples time.

NOTE: The “1” star rating was forced upon me to be able to send this, otherwise, zilch, notta, nothing!!!! ACTUALLY A ZERO STAR RATING FOLKS!!!!

### 1/5 — Not great

*2021-06-24, version 4.3*

It’s just easier to use the supplied remote. This app is clunky and not easy to navigate. I’ve had to reset it a few times as well. Don’t bother with it.

### 1/5 — Bad app for iPhone 12.

*2021-06-08, version 4.3*

This is a bad app since it will not pair with the iPhone 12. It works on my iPad but I keep no music on it. All my music is on the iPhone.

### 1/5 — Got app to pair once, then never again

*2021-05-24, version 4.3*

I was able to pair this app with the head unit in my new Lance camper. Now for the last month it fails every time I try. Totally worthless. I’ll just enjoy the rest of my camper and forget about this worthless piece of Jensen crap.

### 1/5 — Good luck!

*2021-05-16, version 4.3*

Set this up with new camper and worked great while showing it to family, now that it is permanently setup NEVER connects to the app. I can turn Bluetooth on the radio and listen to music but control is non existent unless I forget my device, delete it off radio then reconnect. Trying to control the volume of multiple zones is easier on the app especially when outside, guess I’ll stick to my portable Alexa speaker when I want to listen to music outside while camping!

### 1/5 — Disconnect from my Tahoe Boat unit MS3A

*2021-04-22, version 4.3*

Streaming music with Bluetooth is a nightmare, it keeps connecting and disconnectinh from the unit. I guess will have to change to another brand and install another unit. Basspro and Tracker, do not install these in your boats anymore

### 1/5 — unexpectedly turns ON MS2A marine radio power

*2021-02-22, version 4.3*

JControl version 4.3 is garbage. I spent weeks troubleshooting why my MS2A radio was unexpectedly powering ON when mounted in a waterproof BOSS housing in my gazebo.

Anytime my wife’s or my iPhones were just *barely* within Bluetooth range of the MS2A (in our bedroom), the JControl app would wake our phones and prompt to be allowed to run (Ignore/Allow prompt).

NIGHTLY, the radio would unexpectedly power ON and switch from BT Audio to FM, usually VERY early in the morning.

After deleting the JControl app off our phones, the unexpected power ON problem went away.

I can imagine how many dead RV and boat batteries were caused by JControl.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — This is a terrible app

*2026-03-11, version 4.3*

It does not connect to my iPhone to play Bluetooth. No matter what I do, it will not do it.

### 1/5 — It blows big ones

*2025-11-12, version 4.3*

Refusing to connect

### 1/5 — Horrible

*2025-02-02, version 4.3*

Will not connect to Bluetooth

### 1/5 — Jensen guys, will your ignorance and greed ever end?

*2024-09-03, version 4.3*

Apparently spending $200k class c RV and $150k on a LQ horse trailer is not enough to buy a functional stereo system an app. Not even a choice to upgrade beyond Jensen as you would have when buying a car.
Strangely my $200k Regal 26ft bowrider has a reliable and powerful 3-zone Fuzion system which by far exceeds anything in the RV sector, just enjoy a simple thing like music, for about the same price tag of a bicycle.
Jensen produces nothing but useless garbage, cutting deals with companies that are just as unreliable and greedy.
STAY AWAY!

### 1/5 — Junk

*2023-12-09, version 4.3*

What a shame this is what comes in the little guy mini max. Buggy overpriced junk!

### 1/5 — I wish I could give this negative stars

*2023-11-22, version 4.3*

Jensen could care less about this app, it’s an absolute joke. It’s like a bunch a middle schoolers learned to code and released an app, except I wouldn’t bash middle schoolers because they would have done a better job. Just delete this and fumble through the buttons on the head unit, both are trash but at least you won’t waste you time twice.

### 1/5 — JEM92a

*2023-10-04, version 4.3*

Utter garbage this head don’t work nothing works can’t get TV to play you can’t get auxiliary inputs to work optical inputs to work coaxial cables to work. The only thing that works is FM or a.m. radio assuming that you’re close enough to pick up a signal DVD player doesn’t work basically no audio except FM and a.m. and the app does not work with iPhone so you spend tens of thousands of dollars on an RV and this is installed is an absolute waste of money space and utter garbage

### 1/5 — The Absolute Worst In Every Way

*2023-08-14, version 4.3*

The fact that Jensen continues to exist and that large manufacturing companies like Winnebago continue to use them in their factory installs is shameful. There’s not a single positive thing to say about either their hardware or software offerings. Both are incredibly archaic from a tech standpoint and their core design goal seems to be to frustrate the end user to the point where they want to go absolutely ‘Office Space’ on said equipment. Please let this company go the way of the (much more admirable) Dodo bird soon and another company that actually cares about quality and usability fill the void asap.

### 1/5 — Still Doesn’t Connect

*2023-03-13, version 4.3*

Just bought radio March 2023 and have been unable to connect the Bluetooth. Gets all the way to pairing sending a code to my phone and nope doesn’t connect. These idiots need to fix this issue.

### 1/5 — Can’t Connect Bluetooth to JWM72A

*2022-11-23, version 4.3*

Have used the app for the past year and it’s always been hit or miss with getting connected to the Jensen audio system. Now it absolutely will not connect with Bluetooth to my iPhone 13. I’ve deleted the app and reinstalled it, removed the iPhone from the stereo Bluetooth known devices, powered everything off and on numerous times. I see that the app hasn’t been updated in 2 years and the link for support doesn’t work either.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — JControl-awesome

*2019-11-15, version 4.0.1*

This app is super simple but also completely functional and intuitive. A previous reviewer had trouble with volume control and apparently Jensen has fixed that as I can control everything from the app. It’s way easier to use than the hand held remote that came with the unit (a JWM 60A RV unit). I wish all apps were this easy to use.

### 5/5 — Great addition

*2019-08-28, version 4.0.1*

A very easy to use app. Controlling this radio on our Holiday Rambler from my IPhone is a great addition to my enjoyment of Glamping.

### 5/5 — Works for me

*2018-08-20, version 4.0.1*

The app works fine for me on an iphone 6 and an ipad mini. Bluetooth connected seamlessly and has not dropped out. The functions all work and I can also control the various zones, making this a better remote than the one supplied with the JWM90A I have in my RV. Very happy with it so far, they must have worked out the bugs other reviewers have been complaining about.

### 5/5 — Simple!

*2018-06-23, version 4.0.1*

Works better than the remote. Syncs automatically and the screens are intuitive. Makes life a bit easier in our RV.

### 5/5 — My Jensen MS2ART Marine Radio

*2017-07-26*

Excellent app - once I managed to pair the radio with my iPhone5. The YouTube video showing how to pair was much more helpful than the written manual that came with the radio.

### 4/5 — Bluetooth Horrors

*2022-05-22, version 4.3*

This is an amazing app - When It Works

It took me 3 years to realize that when the Bluetooth fails to connect - which it does all the time - I just turn off All power sources to the RV and then turn it all back on. When the RV is powered back up, I can then get JControl to connect. But it still doesn’t stream music until I Turn On the Stereo (from the app).

Since I learned that, I have fallen in love with my Jensen JWM6A and with JControl.

### 4/5 — 😁

*2019-08-19, version 4.0.1*

Works great in the backseat of the RV when you don’t have a remote!

### 4/5 — With JWM60A

*2019-03-30, version 4.0.1*

The radio is awesome and the app is OK. A couple of improvements I can suggest:

Make the alarm settings accessible from the app, not just on/off

Improve the action of the volume control

Better in-app help

### 3/5 — Needs some updating

*2019-04-27, version 4.0.1*

This is just an okay app. Was very disappointed! Would rather use my other Bluetooth devices!

### 3/5 — Ok, but needs work

*2018-01-15*

Yes, I can control the stereo with the app, but it has a few shortcomings. One of the biggest issues is the inability to control the volume unless streaming audio from the phone. When streaming from the phone the phones volume buttons will change the stereo volume. When just using to control the stereo, the volume buttons in the app have no effect on the stereo volume.
The other issue is I wish it wouldn't try to stream all of the phone audio to the stereo unless you are specifically Bluetooth streaming audio from the phone to the stereo.
