## What is Jerusalem Talmud?

The Talmud Yerushalmi texts and Jewish commentaries are provided in Hebrew and English (some Sederem not translated yet to English).
Clicking on the text directs to a page with commentaries, translations and more biblical sources.

The Jerusalem Talmud (Hebrew: תַּלְמוּד יְרוּשַׁלְמִי‬, Talmud Yerushalmi, often Yerushalmi for short), also known as the Palestinian Talmud or Talmuda de-Eretz Yisrael (Talmud of the Land of Israel), is a collection of Rabbinic notes on the second-century Jewish oral tradition known as the Mishnah. Naming this version of the Talmud after the Land of Israel rather than Jerusalem is considered more accurate by some because, while the work was certainly composed in "the West" (as seen from Babylonia), i.e. in the Holy Land, it mainly originates from the Galilee rather than from Jerusalem in Judea, as no Jews lived in Jerusalem at this time.[1][2] The Jerusalem Talmud was compiled in the Land of Israel, then divided between the Byzantine provinces of Palaestina Prima and Palaestina Secunda, and was brought to an end sometime around 400.[citation needed] The Jerusalem Talmud predates its counterpart, the Babylonian Talmud (known in Hebrew as the Talmud Bavli), by about 200 years,[citation needed] and is written in both Hebrew and Jewish Palestinian Aramaic. ### 3/5 — I do not mean to be ungrateful, but...

*2020-09-03*

I do not mean to be ungrateful, but I cannot find the English translation which was promised. Since this is a free App. One should not look a gift horse in the mouth.
It would have been nice to be able to access an English translation as a study aid for the Hebrew text.

**Developer response:** Shalom, thank you for your thoughtful and gracious feedback. We truly appreciate your dedication to learning Talmud Yerushalmi! At this time, our app includes the Hebrew text, and we are working towards expanding translations, including English, as they become available. High-quality translations, especially for the Yerushalmi, are rare and licensing them is complex, but we hear your need and this request is important to us.

If you have specific suggestions or sources in mind, please write to us at info@hebrewbible.app-we'd love to explore any leads. We’re always striving to make Torah learning more accessible. Wishing you continued hatzlacha (success) in your learning journey, and if there’s anything else we can do to make it a 5-star experience for you, please let us know.

With gratitude,
Rabbi Ari

### 2/5 — Access English

*2020-08-02*

Well done but cannot access English or dictionary when needed. Am I missing something?

**Developer response:** Shalom, thank you for your feedback and kind words. In the Talmud Yerushalmi app, not all tractates currently have English translation or dictionary available-these resources are still being developed. If you’re unable to access English where it is offered, please let us know exactly which masechet and daf you’re struggling with. You can reach us at info@hebrewbible.app with details or screenshots, and we’ll be glad to assist.

If this clarifies your experience, we invite you to reconsider your rating. Your ongoing learning and growth in Torah are very important to us-please keep reaching out as you continue your studies.

Blessings,
Rabbi Ari

### 5/5 — High level App

**Developer response:** Shalom and thank you so much for your kind words! It’s heartwarming to hear that the app is helping you with your Talmud study. May you continue to grow in Torah and wisdom. If you’re enjoying the app, feel free to share it with friends. Behatzlacha in your learning!

Rabbi Ari

### 1/5 — Bavli

*2019-03-01*

I have both the bavli and yerushalmi apps ( besides bible and mishna) and have had them for about a week. When I try to access them now it just aborts. I cannot find a way of contacting anyone.

**Developer response:** Shalom, thank you for your dedication to Torah learning and for sharing your experience. I sincerely apologize for the difficulty you’re facing with app access-it’s certainly not what we want for your study journey. Please email us at info@hebrewbible.app with more details about your device and iOS version, and, if possible, a screenshot of the issue. We’ll do our best to help you resolve this quickly so you can continue learning without interruption.

If you’re satisfied with the app after we resolve this, we’d be grateful if you would consider updating your rating. Thank you for your patience and for being part of our learning community.

Warm blessings,
Rabbi Ari
