We will report this to Authorities... ### 4/5 — Most of time it works! *2020-12-22, version 2.0.9* Fir the most part the plug and app work really good. They need to fix the app, when you tap it the part to turn your lights on and off does not come ups. You have to hit a button to get to the switches. Also, that button moves. You think you going to hit it then it moved on you. Make the main menu the switches! ### 4/5 — Jinvoo *2020-06-21, version 2.0.9* The clickable area around the interface’s buttons must have been reduced to a tiny size - this causes the user to mostly miss the “target” Is it possible that this area has been reduced for the purpose of generating CLICKS? That’s why the only 3 stars. But there must something I can do? I thought problem solved by clicking on what I thought would be a larger area - that is, the icon images of the device itself (to the left of the buttons, hoping to have problem solved, but no, its still too hard to find the “sweet spot.” Please fix this so I can up the review. ### 4/5 — add a timer-ed on and off feature please? *2020-06-03, version 2.0.8* the APP is pretty straight forward, easy to use. just make sure you stay updated with the firmware, becuz when it's out of date, te scheduled ons and offs will not work. out of many good timer/schedule functions, please add a timed time interval for on and off. for example, I can just press a "5" or "10" or whatever mins or hour of time interval for a particular power outlet to turn it on or off for that period of duration. ie, I have a plug for a light in the socket #1. I go to the corresponding socket option on the APP and I just tap the ''5 mins off'' botton and the light will be off for 5 mins then back on automatically. thank you ### 4/5 — Pretty good app and products. *2020-02-22, version 2.0.8* The app is alright, a bit slow at times, and there are a few bugs here and there. But over all it’s good for the price point. There’s the issue of this stuff being Chinese, and the possible privacy implications of that. But hell, is any smart device NOT listening in at all times? I doubt Alexa is minding her business. Are these the best products available? No. But they get the job done, at a reasonable price. Id recommend them to a friend. I just hope they aren’t siphoning my internet traffic. ### 4/5 — Update 2.0.8 *2019-10-11, version 2.0.8* Bad update 😡. Everything worked great before this last update. Now - the buttons that turn on/off each outlet don’t work as expected. I have to push a button (then it doesn’t show it turned on/off) then exit the app, refresh and hopefully it turned on/off. Sometimes it work, sometimes it doesn’t... ### 5/5 — Timer function not working after upgrade to iOS 13 *2019-10-03, version 2.0.8* Timer function has got messed up after upgrade to iOS 13 on iPhone. It shows no schedule. The old schedules are working they cannot be modified , deleted , edited etc. I will really appreciate if this could be fixed. I have many outlets and this has become a big issue. Used to be great but does not work at all with new iOS. It just opens and crashes. Ridiculous planning on their part or else force everyone to buy different branded products ### 5/5 — Nice app and developer responds to users! *2019-09-30, version 2.0.8* We received 4 Jinvoo smart plugs and love them. Only thing was we could only have the app on my husband’s iPhone because I had updated to the new iOS 13 and the app would not work. I emailed the developer and he emailed me back and said the update would be submitted in a couple of days. After it was put on the App Store, he emailed me and let me know so I was able to get the update and now the Jinvoo app works perfectly on the iPhone with the newest iOS. But with the new update of iOS the app does not work at all. I am still able to work the devices from Alexa but not the app. Opening the app it just force closes immediately. Jinvoo has not issued an update. I can not open the app and I can no longer control my devices at all. This one is so downward compatible that i keep it dedicated to work on my old iphone4s to manage home automation. This to automate power management and that robot cleaning apps that works flawless on an old iphone😄 ## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated) ### 1/5 — Used to love and update ruined half my outlets *2022-06-01, version 3.2.2* This app used to work great and I was able to set timers (multiple) on all my outlets. I used them for years and it was great. This recent update has made it impossible for me to use any timer function on most of them. All I get is a timer countdown. Why would you ruin a perfectly good app and make my outlets unusable??? I can’t even change the old timers so now have outlets that are useless. So angry about this!!! Make it like it used to be! I don’t want a shutoff timer, I need to be able to schedule them like you used to be able to. ### 1/5 — Scraping the clipboard *2020-12-22, version 2.0.9* Failing to find any support contact for “Ping Kwong Yip” I’m opting to put this in reviews. It seems the Jinvoo Smart app scrapes my clipboard information. Or at the very least triggers something that causes iOS to notify me that “Jinvoo has pasted from ”. I’ve been able to reproduce this event several times across multiple apps. And I have to say, if you’re scraping and storing from my (or anybody’s) clipboard... not cool. At all. Given that you don’t have a readily available privacy policy, it’s difficult to say if I’ve “agreed” to this. If I don’t get a response from the developer I’ll be getting rid of the app, and the devices. If you’re scraping the clipboard and collecting that information without my express permission, god knows what your IOT is collecting on my network. Really not cool. ### 1/5 — Security and privacy issue *2020-09-30, version 2.0.9* This app I am using for 3 years now. I just realized it has been hacking my phone and copying all my data. Especially clipboard. I came to know after iOS launched new feature that informs you what data from clipboard the app just copied. Then I did a little digging with some network scanning utilities and turns out the server in china is pinging a lot of data from my phone. Plus from the device itself it tries to sniff attack on my network but I use VPN so thats not possible. I warn everyone, delete this app immediately. Another Chinese hacker app. Only if I could give them -5. I am going to sue this company for privacy invasion. I ask Apple to investigate this app and take it down for good. ### 1/5 — Switched over to Smartlife after iOS 13 update *2019-09-29, version 1.2.5* Switched over to smartlife after the iOS 13 update. Now all my smart plugs are working again. You must make sure you are using the 2.4 ghz WiFi. You can do this by downloading the airport utility app, performing a scan, and picking your WiFi that is under 1-13. Anything above is a 5ghz. Then fire up the smartlife app and proceed to link all your plugs. A bit cumbersome but now all my different brands of smart plugs work again. ### 1/5 — Not working *2019-09-29, version 1.2.5* These use to work well. Then I changed servers and could not get them to connect even though they are compatible. Now I can’t get the app to load. I’ve tried everything. I click on the app and it disappears. I’ve rebooted my iPhone and don’t know what else to do. I have 4 of these plugs so It would be nice if I could get them to work again. Also it would be nice if there were an easy way to just reset the WiFi. Any help would be appreciated. Mfavor ### 1/5 — Stopped working *2018-09-21, version 1.2.3* Today both my electrical outlets stopped connecting to their network. My WiFi in my house is working on every other device, so it must be their problem. I can’t use voice commands or the app to turn them on/off anymore, I have to push the button. There is no point in having them like this. I tried to make a report on the app, it said there were network problems and wouldn’t send the feedback. ### 1/5 — Garbage *2017-12-07, version 1.2.0* This app is even worse than the device itself. It stopped working intermittently and now works for a day or two then needs reinstalled. Now it won’t even reinstall. The app is virtually useless as pictures of device don’t match the appearance of the device. Directions are limited. Help is nowhere to be found. This is easily the most regrettable technology purchase I’ve made in years. Should’ve spent more money to get something well designed I guess. Won’t make same mistake twice. ### 2/5 — Other brands might be a good idea *2018-09-20, version 1.2.3* At first it was working perfectly, then randomly their smart bulb would not respond to alexa. It was okay cause I could change it from the app, no biggie; However, the bulb then just said offline and was not responsive to the app or Alexa. I’ve had to reset it maybe 3 times in the last month and today it seems to just have given out the light stays flashing & Alexa recognized the light but it doesn’t respond & says there’s an error. I would test my luck with other products maybe, seems like a Jinvoo issue. ### 2/5 — Network Name Can Only Be Letters *2017-12-24, version 1.2.0* My network name contained one number. I tried several times and could not get connected to ly network. So I renamed my guest network taking out the number and it connected fine! The problem is all of my devices are on the other network which means I either have to move them or rename that network and change the settings on every device. Either way it’s a lot of work!!! ### 3/5 — Smart Power Strip *2018-10-14, version 1.2.3* I purchased the Jinvoo Smart Power Strip and it works good sometimes and other times it doesn’t. I have it plugged into a lamp in my living room to turn on at a certain time and off at a certain time, it works sometimes and sometimes I have to get on the app and turn it off manually through the app. A little disappointed it’s not 100% reliable. ## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated) ### 5/5 — Beautifully simple. Reliable. Works like a champ. *2022-09-16, version 3.2.2* Could not be easier to setup or use. Lots of really nice features. Liked it so much after setting up first pair of plugs, that I immediately ordered several more sets. Countdown timer is very handy; use it all the time. With scenes, groups and schedules you can get creative and handle pretty much any scenario imaginable. ### 5/5 — Super convenient *2021-08-28, version 2.0.9* These have truly been amazing. We go to different states and we turn lamps on and off, fish tank everything. Really great for devices that I forget to turn off before I go to bed or want to control after I’ve gotten there. Been using the devices and app for two or three years now. Still have trouble getting things to play nice with Alexa. It’s not that they want but sometimes it takes too much time to get set up. ### 5/5 — The Best And Easiest Automation You Can Buy *2019-10-21, version 2.0.8* I have had Jinvoo in every room of my 3,000 sqft home for over 4 years now. It has worked flawlessly and is integrated with Alexa which is also in every room, which has resulted in a totally voice controlled environment..... which works automatically without voice commands as well. We are now able to control our home from anywhere in the world. If you are looking to automate your home or office, and don’t want to spend tens of thousands of dollars going through an “ automation contractor “ Jinvoo Smart is your answer. I enthusiastically recommend this product. ### 5/5 — Very wood, but some times... *2019-10-18, version 2.0.8* Excelente product, but for some reason from time to time one or other switch or plug disappear from the network. Easy to put it back. Also, after a blackout. But in general I recommend this product to everybody. When trying to access, I get “no timer data”.
