### 2/5 — Prepare to be ripped off

*2020-06-06, version 5.2.1*

It’s a fairly efficient app and easy to use. However, unlike almost every other subscription service that became unnecessary due to COVID-19, the folks at Jobulator didn’t automatically suspend billing when every school in the country was closed. And apparently they have a “strict no refund policy,” which means you’re out the money. You’re paying for a service that they then do not actually provide. So watch out because they WILL gouge you if they can. And when I contacted support, I wasn’t sure what they meant by their answer and when I asked for clarification they stopped answering. I’ll give them one more day and then I’m going to have to challenge the charges through my bank. So bottom line, the app works okay, but the terrible customer service/treatment makes me unable to recommend this app.

### 3/5 — No Apple Watch App

*2020-01-12, version 5.2.1*

It works fine on your phone. You do have to be really fast to get most jobs though. It works best if you leave the app open on your phone all the time. It makes getting to the place where you accept the jobs quicker. Cons for this app are that you cannot cancel jobs once accepted, you cannot look at the calendar and see what jobs you have only what days are filled, and a big let down for me is that there is no app for the Apple Watch. 🤔

### 3/5 — Great Until It Isn’t

*2019-10-07, version 5.2.1*

I use jobulator quite a bit to get sub jobs and appreciate many of its helpful features. However, I have had a recurring problem of receiving a Job Not Available notice for jobs that I know ARE available. I sent an email to customer service describing the problem, including my attempted fixes of removing the app and reinstalling it. Customer service advice? Remove the app and reinstall it. Thanks, jobulator! At least they responded; in the past, it was difficult to get a response. I have had to get district office to contact them. Like I said, it’s a great app until it malfunctions, then good luck getting help.

### 2/5 — Not as good as other apps

*2019-01-13, version 5.2.1*

I have been testing this app with another one simultaneously to compare timing and amount of notifications. This app lags on announcing available jobs by 30 sec to one minute compared to other app which is completely enough time to miss it. It also has not notified every time there is a job as compared to my other app. Only twice has this app notified me first. I’ve only booked one job with this app as compared to 8 jobs from the other app in the same amount of time- again I have been testing both simultaneously. I’m giving it two stars because I like the Calendar feature and overall aesthetic but not functionality. Will be deleting.

### 2/5 — Helps a little

*2019-01-09, version 5.2.1*

This app only helps a little. Like the other reviewer, I find it very hard to believe that we are all getting notifications about available jobs at the same time. I have a watch, plus my phone that notifies me “as soon as a job becomes available “ when I click on the app, that job is gone. How can that be, I’m talking about 3 seconds max! This happens multiple times a day... or night even early morning ( 2 am) again , how can this be. It feels like this app sends out fake jobs to justify me paying 5.99 per month.

### 3/5 — It’s okay

*2018-09-16, version 5.2.1*

Overall it is a good app. You get notifications whenever a job is available, you see all the information you need before you accept it - but afterwards you only see on the calendar that you have a job for a specific day. I would like to still be able to see the job details as opposed to going to the website.

There have only been a few times that I have clicked on a notification to see that a job as already been taken. But I am still getting more jobs than before because I am no longer tied to the computer.

### 3/5 — Fast, handy & room for improvement

*2018-09-11, version 5.2.1*

This app is faster than other apps, usually. That’s a very big plus!

Another plus is that the calendar appears just like in AESOP/Frontline. When teachers ask if I’m busy or not I can reference that easily and let them know right away. Great feature!

In another app, you can see the list of jobs you have taken (where, when, whom), get directions(linked to google maps), email the teacher you are subbing for so I miss that here.

Also I WISH THERE WAS A SEARCH FEATURE or a FILTERING OPTION on this app. It would be great to search for the schools you like or for certain dates, etc. Also, if the search feature worked in your scheduled jobs that would be fantastic.

BEAT THE COMPETITION: The other app I have does not have a search feature either, so you could get ahead of them that way. I’m rooting for you!

### 3/5 — Works pretty well

*2018-08-19, version 5.2.1*

This is the only method available to me to get job notifications, unless I’m willing to sit at my computer with AESOP up and running. I set it up for audible notifications, so I can be alerted to jobs immediately but often keep my phone on silent when in meetings, classrooms, etc. However, when my device is set to silent, when I open the app to respond to the visual notification on my screen, if there is a job available there is a noisy chime. If my device is set to silent, you can guess I’m in a place or situation where I don’t want my phone making a racket! Please change the programming so the app does not make an audible alert when opened if the phone is set to silent.

### 2/5 — Very flawed. other apps are better for less

*2017-12-22, version 5.2.1*

As I was new to substitute teaching, I saw the ad for this app and decided to try it out to get more jobs. The first problem was that the app only allowed for one district, and I was employed at 3. I could not see any of my other districts for jobs. The other problem was that a job would come up and I would click on “accept” and it would tell me that the job was no longer available. It was difficult to use and I found that “SubstituteAlert” app was much better and gave me all I needed in an easy to use platform so I stopped my free trial.

### 3/5 — Just ok

*2017-11-05, version 5.2.1*

I feel like I get enough jobs from this app that it covers the cost of, but it really has problems. Often, as soon as you hear that alert and get to the app, the job is gone. Recently I started having a problem that when I add a job I’ve just accepted from the app to my calendar it puts the start and end time an hour earlier than they actually are. There is no help on the app itself, and I’ve been trying to access the help page for days but it never loads, trying to see why I made guy be having this problem all of a sudden. Not being able to see your jobs, only that blue box that tells you something is scheduled, is pretty silly. I’m just glad almost all my jobs come from teachers directly asking me. Not sure if I’m going to renew....

### 2/5 — So many problems for substitutes

*2017-10-31, version 5.2.1*

“It is not designed to be a competitive edge” is right in the description. It “may not” have been designed for that, but please know that it can be one.
It can also be a nightmare when trying to accept jobs. I have gotten a message that a job is no longer available and have been able to accept the job because I refused to concede that it was no longer available and kept clicking. A common numbers of tries is around seven, but I wanted to find out just how many times I would have to click one Saturday morning when I knew I was the only math substitute who should be seeing the job. Exactly 600 clicks later, it allowed me to accept the job. Convenient? Not really.
Now it has stopped syncing with my Apple Watch. That was a nice feature because, when it worked, I would get a silent notification. If I have my iPhone on silent mode now, the notification is just like all of the other notifications I get; so it is easy to miss them. I now keep my phone in normal mode, which means it might ring while I am in school.
The app has helped me get jobs I probably wouldn’t have gotten, so I will put up with the major inconveniences.

### 2/5 — Wish I would have never updated

*2017-10-11, version 5.2.1*

Seems like ever since I updated I can’t seem to get to the job I’m being notified about fast enough. Even if it’s within a millisecond oh getting the notification. So either it’s notifying me when there isn’t actually a job available or it’s notifying me too late. It worked so much better before it’s last update and I'm not sure that y’all really changed anything. Maybe it’s because my free trial is up and now that I’m actually paying for the service it doesn’t want to work right anymore. It’s just very frustrating.

### 2/5 — App not working - Very frustrated!!

*2017-10-03, version 5.2.1*

I updated the app when it told me I needed to. That was on 9/28. I have not gotten a job notification since that date. I usually get at least 1 notification a day (even on the weekends). Sometimes I would get 3-4 notifications in a day. I wrote to tech support and got back the answer that I needed to update the app in order for it to work. I did that and that's when it stopped working. I've used this app for almost two years with no problems, but I just don't understand what is happening now.

### 2/5 — Could be better

*2017-01-29, version 5.1.0*

The app was useful enough when I was needing to accept work daily. It was
Nice being able to accept work from an app instead of calling my school district. The times weren't always accurate on the listing and a couple times the titles weren't right either but I don't think that was the apps fault. I did get notifications a lot about jobs and I'd open the app right away and there would be nothing so that was frustrating. I think the most frustrating thing was though was when I no longer needed the app I was looking for how to cancel my subscription. I noticed the button said "log out and deactivate your account". Now I took this as deactivating your subscription but apparently not because the next month it took payment still. Turns out you have to go online and cancel from there. If you can do everything else from the app you should be able to cancel from there too.

### 3/5 — Helps a little, mostly torture

*2017-01-11, version 5.1.0*

The functions are fine--notification sound/visual on lock screen, the app lets you see the gist of a job on its home screen, you have to click on it to know things like length of the job (end time, for example.) Easy to accept, and you can see a calendar of your jobs. The major problem I have with this: I would say that 75% of the time when I get a notification, there is no job there. I can be holding my phone, get a notification, unlock, refresh the app screen (I'll have left it open to be ready), and in those 10 seconds there is no job listed. I've also tried having the phone next to me while my computer is open, the Aesop page on a tab ready to go. I hear the notification and go to the tab (so, maybe 3 seconds?), and no job. Leaving the app on in the middle of the night, same thing--it can be 2 a.m. and there's no job when checking right away after a notification. How is this possible? Consistently? Makes me wonder about how the app really works...is there a delay, to jobs put out a "notification" when they already have someone specified? Does the app randomly send out notifications to make customers feel like it's worth it? Bottom line: it'll help you get a few jobs, and make you feel like you're missing tons for taking more than 2 seconds to get access.

### 4/5 — Hoping for an update soon!

*2016-09-23, version 5.1.0*

I love love love my Jobulator app. I spend a lot of time sitting with it open on my phone because of how simple it is to get jobs, however I would love to see an update in the near future. Two suggestions I have would be...
1.) Ability to see job details on the Jobulator calendar. It is frustrating that you have to go to the Aesop website to see details for your upcoming and previous jobs.

2.) Apple Watch capabilities.
I am not always able to get to my phone in time but I do have an Apple Watch. It would be really great if I could pick up jobs from my watch.

Other than that I highly recommend this app for any substitute teacher. I have already told two of my friends about it and they love it too!!

### 3/5 — Faster than sub finder but will not stick with it

*2016-08-23, version 5.1.0*

This app is faster than others (probably because it's an official Aesop app) but it lacks much detail. When the job notification banner comes up I hate how I don't know anything about the job. I have to tap on "open" and even then I have to tap again on the main screen because there isn't enough info about the job. It really bothers me that I don't know what hours the opening is for as well as school, teacher, date or time. Sub assistant offers this (I just wish it was faster). It's kind of counterintuitive to what the app is for, to save time. I still have to go through all the options in order to get enough info on the job. I can't just find find out by banner if I want to even bother with the assignment. If they fixed this I would choose this over the other apps, but it seems that I will be cancelling the trial soon...

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Horrible and expensive

*2023-04-11*

This app should be functioning at a much higher level for the cost. I get notifications and immediately accept - only for it to say job is taken - but it still sits as available and I see it in Aesop so I can go accept there. Unfortunately most of the time I’m on the go and not able to immediately look at Aesop. Yes I have deleted and redownloaded - but the problem is still there. Doesn’t look like the app has been updated in several years. Also - my co workers and I noticed they the notifications were not working for literally a couple of months - approx Jan-Feb 2023. I contacted support and was told it was a known issue that was being looked into. No offer of refund, credit, etc. when it was finally fixed they wanted to close my ticket - I insisted on some compensation- so they added a month to my subscription- but that isn’t something I should have to ask for - it should be done AUTOMATICALLY for everyone who was affected. Basically were taking customers money when they knew the app wasn’t working and didn’t do anything about it. I will say that the support people try to be helpful and are friendly. The problems are more with the mechanics of the app and obviously with the corporate side who doesn’t care about crediting customers who are paying a lot of $

### 1/5 — No responsibility or integrity with Customer service

*2023-01-18, version 5.2.1*

I was charged the day after I started the so called free trial which caused an overdraft fee with my bank. Customer service admitted to the error being on their part but would not help fix the problem that occurred because of their faulty software. They told me I have to go to my bank when my bank wasn’t the one who made a mistake. Try before you buy is not the truth here even though the terms and condition say otherwise. Make sure your account has the money before you commit. Their faulty system can cost you.

### 1/5 — Awful

*2019-09-21, version 5.2.1*

Would give it a 0 star if it was an option. I went 2 years finding sub jobs on Aesop and found jobs everyday. Another sub told me to try jobulator, so I did. Thinking that jobulator was goinf to send me alerts when a job was available, I stopped checking the Aesop site here and there for jobs. I noticed I was not getting any job notifications, which was odd because I know sub jobs are often available. However, when I get notifications the job is no longer available. I was under the assumption that every time a teacher requested a sub request then jobulator would let me know, WRONG! I decided to test it next to the Aesop site. Well long and behold, I saw jobs on Aesop sitting around waiting to be picked up and yet Jobulator is not sending me an alert. I also noticed that when I did get a jobulator alert, it was after I watched the job sit for an average of 25 minutes. Now that explained why 99.9% of the time the job was already taken when jobulator sent the alert.

So save your money and don’t bother. I find that refreshing Aesop here and there gets me jobs. Jobulator sends you alerts after a job has already been taken or when it has been sitting there forever. Which means you can just check Aesop here and there and still get more jobs than paying Jobulator for nothing.

**Developer response:** Obviously this is not what we ever want to hear, but we would love to try and change your mind! Can you contact us at jobulatorsupport@frontlineed.com so we can work with you to better understand what's happening and hopefully solve any problems?

### 1/5 — Switching to another service

*2019-01-28, version 5.2.1*

I have been a customer for 5 years and I am leaving. I’m hoping to get a refund for the rest of the year but I’m not holding my breath. The service has been fine except for the past couple of months but then I was unable to open my notifications. I have written repeatedly getting only one response to the first one: log off, remove app, turn off phone, turn on, download app and sign on. I have done this numerous times without a positive result. I have written several times and the only response I’ve gotten is “this has been added to the conversation”... which has been one-sided. Needless to say, customer service is nil.

### 1/5 — Predatory "Customer Service".

*2017-02-02, version 5.1.0*

I was happy until they offered monthly subscriptions and I switched because of tight budget. I NEVER selected the option of "recurring" payments. Each month, when my subscription EXPIRED, I made MANUAL payments to reactivate for the next month. Then they started charging me automatically!!! This gave me a false sense of the balance in my checking account and caused me to incur overdraft fees. I realized they were doing this in August, 2016. Then I noticed they charged me for June and July as well!!! Why would I reactivate the subscription when I don't work in June, July or August???? When asked for a refund/credit they said that I "cancelled and resubscribed" each month. WHAT????? Now they've changed their policy but that was NOT so in June 2016!! They are dishonest and deliberately do not have a phone contact to avoid issues like this being addressed. DISHONEST JOBULATOR!

### 1/5 — Not worth the money

*2017-01-20, version 5.1.0*

I downloaded the app hearing great things about it and had no success, never received any notifies of available jobs. I was contacted directly from the school about filling in for the day and was told there had been jobs posted I should've worked.
I canceled my account within the 14 day trial period but was still charged. Because this app did not work and did not notify me I lost my consecutive work days which drastically changed my pay rate.
I contacted customer service, they only have email available, to refund me the $5.99 since I canceled within that trial period. The customer service rep says per the terms no refunds even though per the terms I canceled in the allowed time frame.
Not worth the money you're better off logging to Aesop directly or contacting the school.

### 1/5 — The worst customer service and business ethics

*2016-08-05, version 5.1.0*

I quit subbing in February. I realized in July that an automatic payment for jobulator app was taken off of my paypal account every month. After lots of trouble I was able to contact them. I found out that jobulator doesn't even have a phone customer support. So on the day of transaction I emailed jobulator customer service asking to help me log into my account and also to issue me a refund for that month explaining my situation. It took them three days to respond to me explaining to me how to log into my account but they completely ignored my question on the refund. I emailed request for refund again. This time they emailed me to tell me that according to their policy they don't issue refund. What respectable company concerned about its reputation would do something like that? I will sub again but I'm definitely not using this app again. Goodbye jobulator!!! Hope my $6.99 a month made you rich because soon another app will get my money ... not you.

### 1/5 — Waste of Time & Money

*2015-12-22, version 5.1.0*

If I could give this app zero stars I would. I took a chance on this app after reading bad reviews because my SubTeach rep said lots of people in my area used the app. Not only did I never get an actual job from the app - I never even got notified that jobs were available. To get the free trial you had to set up payment info - but since the app didn't work at all I canceled my account t days and days ago (or so I thought). They don't provide a clear way to cancel your account but they do provide a "logout & deactivate" option. I did that. They drafted their fee from me anyway and when I contested it they said that deactivating wasn't the same as canceling and per their terms they would not refund my money but as a "curtesy" they would cancel my account. Not worth time or money. Is basically a scam.

### 1/5 — This app is a scam!!

*2015-11-09, version 5.1.0*

This app is a total scam! I paid for the year because I thought I would save money in the long run. I have used the app for less than a month and have accepted a full-time job. Obviously I no longer need this app. I asked for a refund and to only pay for the month that I have used and they simply said no. I know it is my responsibility for paying for the year in the first place, however you would think they would allow for someone to except a full-time job! The app does not even have all of the same functions as the website. For a paying app I would expect much more, you cannot even see details on the calendar for the job do you have selected! I am extremely dissatisfied and feel taken advantage of. They are able to get away with this because they have a monopoly on the market and it is highly unfortunate. They clearly do not care about their customers and only care about the money.

### 2/5 — Glitchy

*2021-02-09, version 5.2.1*

Paying $50 a year for this app, you would think it would be easier to use. Scrolling is always glitchy. Can’t scroll through available jobs. If you see a job a take it, it marks your calendar as working. However, you cannot see what job you’ve taken by touching date, you have to go into another app to see where you’re working on a particular date. Won’t allow me to access Frontline through the Jobulator app. This app needs a lot of updating and uses other then simply taking a job.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Great!

*2021-04-22, version 5.2.1*

I don’t understand all the negative reviews. I have had a super experience using this app! I’ve gotten so many jobs & have worked every single day of the week one year for the ENTIRE year!

Well worth the cost & much better than just having the AESOP app which is always later at notifying me of jobs than Jobulator!

### 5/5 — Time is money

*2017-12-14, version 5.2.1*

I’ve seen many negative reviews, but I have been very pleased with the app. Perhaps updates have helped since the negative reviews are mostly 1-2 years old. I haven’t had the technical issues others have mentioned.
Anyway, rather than being stuck to my computer, I get notifications anytime. It is true that jobs disappear fast, but that’s true with or without the app. The app just lets me know I missed it rather than being blissfully unaware. If it gives me even one day with a job or a better job, it has paid for itself. Time is money!
Lastly, I love the import to calendar feature. Not only does it include the the date and time, it also gives the teacher’s name and school address which I can easily tap to get directions.

### 5/5 — Substitute teacher

*2016-08-04, version 5.1.0*

I love this app. Jobs come through all the time and I'm able to get ready and get my kids ready in the morning without having to constantly refresh the website. The app checks it every minute for me. I love it even more now that they offer monthly instead of yearly billing. I used the free trials on the other apps out there. This one was the fastest. I would recommend to any substitute out there.

### 5/5 — Awesome app!

*2015-04-16, version 5.1.0*

I have tried two other apps for the Aesop sub program, and while they were okay, this is way better! I like how you can get more info by clicking on the job; and I like how it will put the job in your calendar after accepting it.

The only thing I would like to see changed (improved) is the calendar view in the app itself. It shows what days you are scheduled to work, but it does not say where you are scheduled to work on those days. It would be awesome when you clicked on the day if it would give information about the job that day.

Otherwise an awesome sub program! Definitely worth $4+ a month!!

### 5/5 — Love this App

*2015-03-10, version 5.1.0*

The only thing I wish this app would do that it doesn't is allow to add jobs to your calendar after you have closed the accept job screen. If you don't add it immediately after accepting, you've lost your opportunity. But other than that, it has allowed me to get more jobs at better locations and not have to constantly log in on my computer. It's a must have for me.

### 5/5 — Update fixes biggest issues

*2015-02-05, version 5.1.0*

No more sound when my phone is on silent is great, and how it shoulda been originally! My only two small complaints is 1) When I swipe and hit delete on a job I don't want any more prompts that I have to click on 2) No sound when a new job appears when the app is open, it already goes off when it appears when the app is closed. Overall I'm glad to see the developer is listening to those of us who use the app every darn day

### 4/5 — Great but have a question 👇🏼 How to get out of accepted job?

*2018-10-01, version 5.2.1*

So far this app has been great at getting jobs but I accidentally excepted one on a day where I have a doctors appointment already scheduled. I assumed I could go into the app and reject the job to make it available again on Jobulator. So far, I can’t find any options to do so.
Would be great if there is an option to relist a job for accidental double bookings.
Other than that, I love this app! The creators created a really great service for our school system 😊

### 4/5 — iOS 11 m app update!

*2017-09-27, version 5.2.1*

Edit:: after getting the second update and going to setting to reset everything the app seems to be working better!
I didn’t update my phone to the new update until Jobulator’s app was fixed so when the app updated and said bugs fixes for iOS I updated my phone. Now the app is not working! Now I’m paying for an app that doesn’t work! Please fix the issues with iOS 11!

### 4/5 — Great, but

*2017-02-13, version 5.1.0*

Been subbing for about 3 years and this is a great app to use. Only problems are sometimes when a job comes in and I open the open the job is either gone or isn't really there. And another issue is lately it's been giving my the same job twice, I accept the job and then the same job dings again right after I already accepted it so I accept it again and then it goes away. Kinda weird.

### 4/5 — Indispensable but frustrating

*2016-11-01, version 5.1.0*

This is my first year as a substitute teacher and I was told that I absolutely need this app. I don't know how I would get jobs without it but with that being said, it is amazing how fast jobs disappear. I can literally have my iphone in my hand, get the alert there is a job, swipe to see it and it's already gone. I don't know how I could have gotten to it any faster. This happens A LOT. Very frustrating. But I get enough jobs to make it worthwhile. I would also like to be able to see details of my existing jobs without having to go to AESOP.
