This is the best app in my phone. I get so much from listening to this and it reinforces what I hear in meetings. Thank you

### 5/5 — Still the best

*2019-06-23, version 2.0*

Still the best explanation of the big book I’ve ever encountered . Clear concise.

### 5/5 — Great Insight.

I’ve listened to all of the speaker portion which was so helpful. I keep the app because of the other tools on it. I read from it often.

### 5/5 — Joe and Charlie-True Big Book Thumpers

*2018-09-09*

I got sober in Dayton, Oh near the birthplace of AA. It was there that I was taught that the direction to sobriety was found in the Big Book and that if I followed precisely the direction inside I too could live a wonderful life. 12 years later I can’t deny that truth. I was introduced to Joe and Charlie with a set of CD’s and through the book and their guidance I have not found a reason to take a drink. This is a must for anyone wanting to gain a better understanding of the power found within its cover. May your higher power bless you on your journey.

### 5/5 — Excellent

*2018-06-24, version 2.0*

Points out Phrases, Words, etc in the Big Book that I’ve read many times but presents them in a new light. A great aid when reworking the steps.

### 5/5 — Great lessons

*2018-06-03*

Love listening to Joe and Charlie. Makes you think deeper about what you have already learned and read in the big book. I get another “ahh-haa” moment every time I listen to them. No matter how many years of sobriety I have I’m still always learning and growing.

### 5/5 — Truly entertaining and enlightening.

*2017-07-13*

Not long after I started working at GSO, a member of the AA staff told me about Joe & Charlie. That was before the iPhone and Apps and you had to download media files. But the effort was worth it as these two men bring the BB to life with energy, humor and valuable insights. The App makes it so easy to access this amazing content and I encourage everyone, member or not to buy it and enjoy! Charlie S.

### 5/5 — Great Journey Through The Big Book

*2017-06-13, version 2.0*

If you're looking to deepen you knowledge of the big book, this is a great tool.

### 5/5 — Love!

*2017-05-12, version 2.0*

I love that I can attend an awesome Big Book study where ever I go. Joe and Charlie make so much sense out of the text and bring in the humor too!! I highly recommend.

### 5/5 — WOW Fun & Knowledgeable!

*2017-04-18*

I recommend this to all new comers & very old timers who don't know what we have available today with modern technology.
This explains the Big Book in a simple & enjoyable way. The steps are so easy to follow that I look forward to redoing them.
It's not only fun to listen to but convenient. I listen while driving, cleaning & exercising.
It's not only convenient but saves money & space. I couldn't even buy the Big Book alone for this price; forget all the other books & meetings on this app.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — AA Joe and Charlie

*2019-01-14, version 2.0*

Paid $4 for nothing sometimes app has audio most of the time doesn’t work all my other apps work fine even the free ones

### 2/5 — Was expecting a little more.

*2018-02-25, version 2.0*

The android app by Ibyte is much better. Was expecting this one to be identical. But it’s not. I’ll still have to use my phone instead of my Ipad to get the much better, and more, features.

### 2/5 — Not what I expected

*2017-02-18, version 2.0*

I thought this would be Joe Mc Q and Charley Parmley but it's clear from the getgo it's another Joe. Very deceptive. Joe McQ led the show...Charley simply his side kick. What a disappointment.

### 4/5 — Very Informative

*2023-07-11*

Very informative history of AA and breakdown of the Big Book. Sound quality forces you to turn up the volume full blast but I imagine one reason that is that the available media to record on was cassette tapes. I can remember how much I paid for it honestly. Also contains Preamble, How It Works, Just for Today, and Sobriety Counter in Days. Thanks for making this available.

### 4/5 — Almost perfect unless im missing something

*2017-09-27, version 2.0*

I just wish the audio sections would play continuously. Be perfect for those long drives.

### 4/5 — Volume a little low

*2017-08-09, version 2.0*

I love this app, but the volume is a little low for me.

### 4/5 — AA

*2017-07-09, version 2.0*

Great app consisting of two iconic people who guide us through the ultimate road map of recovery. Android version has way more features but this is still good.

### 4/5 — Serenity

*2016-08-28*

Great app, love the explanations and how it is broken down along with their understanding of the background behind the writing of the Big Book by the original authors. Only complaint is there isn't a way to bookmark where you left off if you have to stop in the middle of one of the sections and doesn't show which episode you left off on. Other than that, great companion to the reading of the Big Book.

### 4/5 — Fantastic!

*2015-05-25*

As a new comer in the program this gives me everything I need when I can't get to a meeting.

### 5/5 — Timeless wisdom

*2026-07-15*

The human condition (selfishness, ego, maturation of our character defects, etc) has never changed across the span of time. These recordings address the biggest challenges of every one of us

## Most praised reviews (9 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — I need this!

*2025-10-17, version 2.0*

This is outstanding. This was well done and I highly recommend this App for any newcomer to the fellowship. I have been sober since 3/9/1982
And I love listening to this app. Give it a try, please. You won’t regret it.

### 5/5 — Joe and Charlie

*2024-05-12, version 2.0*

Life saving-a day at a time

### 5/5 — Question

*2024-03-04*

Hi there I couldn’t figure out how else to reach the developers so I’m doing it through a review… I love this app- I’ve been using it for years… I am in a recovery Facebook group and I wonder if I would be able to post the transcripts on an ongoing basis, giving full credit to the app of course every time I post. I don’t want to step on anybody’s toes though! Thanks!

### 5/5 — Great app 100 stars

*2022-02-26, version 2.0*

AA is a Fellowship of people

### 5/5 — Yup

*2020-08-24*

They may not be the “ gurus” of AA but they sure help me dissect and absorb more of the information provided in the big book of Alcoholics Anonymous. I believe it’s a must have especially in the days were people don’t read anymore.

### 5/5 — Joe and Charlie

*2020-08-07*

I have been sober for 26 years and I needed to rejuvenate my program! I remembered years ago listening to the Joe and Charlie tapes and being inspired so I decided to see if they had an app and here it is! I downloaded it on my iPad and can listen to it anywhere! I also use it with my sponsees, we take out our Big Books and follow along as Joe & Charlie take us through the steps. I love it

### 5/5 — Wow. Money well spent.

*2020-06-22, version 2.0*

Thought it was just the speaker tapes. So much more.

### 5/5 — Engaging & Inspiring

*2020-05-01*

These fellows talk us through the Big Book of AA in a thought provoking way that is entirely relatable. It feels like you’re sitting down with a couple of your uncles who are wise but so down to earth. They keep it serious but light with enough humor in it, that you find yourself smiling throughout the series. Love it.

### 5/5 — Joe & Charlie fan in Alanon

*2020-02-12*

Their straightforward presentation about the steps, how they were used in recovery by the original practitioners and about the development of 12 steps into the form we find them today was so helpful. Especially expanded my understanding of how living in ongoing & growing trust of our higher power is central and develops through working the steps. I’ve recommended it to others.
