### 2/5 — Problems remain unresolved in last couple of weeks

*2026-07-11, version 2026.27.1*

I have been using card and app for a couple of years and not had any issues however i now have a problem with confirming transactions and despite chats and lengthy calls no one has been able to resolve. I expected better follow up. Very disappointed.

### 2/5 — Latest updates causing problems

*2026-07-07, version 2026.27.1*

IOS 16.7.16

Used this app for quite some time with no problems. Following most recent updates, it has become slow and I have to keep logging in. It is also not showing recent transactions.

### 4/5 — Pay

*2026-07-07, version 2026.26.1*

For some reason I am unable to use the pay function to ,as it says pay my bill
iPhone 17 pro with latest update to phone and app
This issues now has resolved its self or been fixed with an update so no longer an issue

### 3/5 — Points total

*2026-06-16, version 2026.23.1*

They should let you see your total points, not just the current months.

### 2/5 — Was 5 star, a generous 2 now

*2026-04-20, version 2026.15.1*

App used to work fine before an update. Please explain how can I use the Payit app now when it asks for me to scan a QR code which isn’t generated for scanning. Poor update, you people cannot have tested the payment experience before deploying this to your customers. It’s just rubbish now and needs to be returned to how it was asap

### 2/5 — No version for IPad

*2026-03-09, version 2026.9.1*

The app is designed for an IPhone. You can download it to an IPad but it is not designed for that - what you get is the same format as the phone, not using the IPad screen to maximum effect

### 1/5 — App action buttons non responsive

*2026-01-23, version 2026.3.1*

Been using the App for time, no issues, use face id to login. Today app decides to challenge me to login again with username and PW. Can enter username, but Password isn’t submitted as the ‘Continue’ button isn’t working. No way to progress fwd.
Using iPhone on ios 26.2

### 2/5 — No way to search transactions

*2026-01-21, version 2026.3.1*

Over the years I have needed to search for transactions on several occasions and the only way to do so is to scroll through possibly years of transactions. It should be possible to specify a date range and/or beneficiary details. Possibly also by amount.
If it’s routine for banks it should be possible for credit cards.

### 1/5 — Transactions view in App

*2026-01-15, version 2025.50.1*

Transactions now full of offers to spread payments under limit alibis every payment. Unacceptable will close my account if this continues.

### 1/5 — Really not good enough

*2026-01-14, version 2025.50.1*

The app is just meh, but the whole credit card experience is so much worse than it used to be before NewDay took over that it cheapens John Lewis

### 2/5 — App doesn't offer a way to refund credit

*2025-12-30, version 2025.50.1*

The app is ok but there is no way to get your positive credit balance transferred from your credit card to your bank account. You have to go through an AI screening and then use AI chatbot and then finally get to a person. Multiple chat messages to get them to do what you want. Then you have to enter your bank details even if it is the card you always pay your bills. Then they tell you it will take 3 - 5 days to get your money back. Really not very impressive app capability in the 21st century!

### 1/5 — Payment button problem

*2025-12-17, version 2025.50.1*

Lots of emails telling us to change the bank account details that we make our payments into for the card, if doing direct debits or standing order from our bank account which makes sense. However, I haven’t used those, I use the pay button within the app.. And that has not been updated with the New payment account details. So my payments via that are going to be discontinued, repayment account. So John Lewis, stop emailing me to tell me I’m paying money into the wrong repayment account. It’s a problem with your app.

### 3/5 — Adds

*2025-12-07, version 2025.48.1*

To many advertisements especially for buying no pay later

### 1/5 — TouchID no longer accepted

*2025-11-28, version 2025.47.1*

Due to problems with my iPad recognising my fingerprint I deleted and re-added my fingerprint, but the app now refuses to accept Touch ID (because my fingerprint has been updated). I deleted the app and reinstalled, enabled Touch ID again but the app still refuses to allow touch ID login. STOP MESSING WITH THESE APPS AND ADDING BUGS AND UNWANTED FEATURES!!

### 1/5 — Awful app and service

*2025-11-20, version 2025.45.1*

I do my regular shopping for Waitrose delivery. My Waitrose account delivered to my address paid for with my John Lewis credit card. Why do I need to verify in the app every single time? And the actual credit card is awful too. Paid off in full on or before deadline for years. Refuse to give increase my limit above £1250. So can’t use it to buy most stuff at John Lewis.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Zero stars!!!

*2026-06-21, version 2026.25.1*

Why do I have to enter my details every time I want to open your stupid app???!!! We had a deal - facial recognition!!!!

### 1/5 — Total rubbish

*2026-06-18, version 2026.25.1*

When you’re in the app, it’s fairly easy to use, navigator around, and gives you all the information you’d expect. The problem is getting into the app. The slightest blip in Wi-Fi, or 5G, and it kicked you out asking you to re-enter passwords,, two factual identification et cetera. And even when there’s not a blip, it still does it! This is a very badly designed feature of this application. I’m all security, but this thing is paranoid!

### 1/5 — Why no Touch ID?

*2026-05-20, version 2026.20.1*

Every time I want to use the John Lewis CC I have to first go to my eWallet, find the six digit code, remember it and then enter random digits from it before the app will open.

Every other finance app I use has an option for Touch ID instead of a PIN code/set of digits. Why not this one?

I use the JL CC much less because of this, ie JL is losing money.

UPDATE:
Had response from Steve, developer which came from Apple. The 'Contact the developer' link in Apple's email just went to the corporate website so of no use at all, so I am having to communicate directly this way.

I only use the app on my iPad. I cannot find any option in any of the settings for biometric options. To see if it was different I installed it on my iPhone and it offered to use FaceID which I agreed to. I then logged out, and when I logged in it again asked if I wanted to use FaceID and again asked for the PIN, ie the first time it asked hadn't been set. After that the FaceID (on the phone) worked. However, there is no reference to FaceID or biometrics in the phone app; the only time it comes up is when you install it.

With this information, I deleted the app on the iPad and reinstalled it. It then offered me the option to use TouchID, but again after setting it up and logging out it hadn't remembered and I had to say 'Yes' to TouchID again and enter the PIN. After that the iPad app now works with TouchID.

However, as with the iPhone app (I know it's the same app, as it comes up as a phone app ie small on the iPad) there is nowhere that I can find in the app that mentions biometrics. The only time biometric log in is offered is when the app is first installed. Other banking apps have the option to enable or disable biometrics within the app.

### 1/5 — Rubbish service not fitting of JL

*2026-05-19, version 2026.20.1*

JL credit card is ran by New Day - everything outsourced- they are really poor. Fraud line closes at 7pm, earlier at a weekends! Guess everyone goes home then, normal people stop shopping, travelling, going out and baddies put their feet up for the night, Why do brands mess with our loyalty as they try to squeeze a few more £££’s - don’t do things if you aren’t going to offer a decent / full service! This just makes me want to stop using John Lewis full stop.

### 1/5 — Moving to Monzo Flex

*2026-04-17, version 2026.15.1*

This app is behind the times, no ability to pay off individual payments (like Monzo) if you pay some cash back early the statement balance isn’t updated (Monzo is instantaneous) so now I’ve got to guess how much of my statement balance is left to pay.

Please please focus on modernisation because your competitors at the moment are light years ahead.

### 1/5 — New Day running this - it’ll cause you immense frustration!

*2026-03-26, version 2026.12.1*

We have been fans of JL for many years and have had a JL Credit card for many years with a 5 digit credit limit (paid off each month).
New Day seem to run the JL finance operations and they’re bringing JL into disrepute. We use the JL card for any significant purchase but New Day make it hard.
* Buy a JL prepaid card and it expires after a year and that’s it - your money is gone.
* They block random transactions because of fraud and give no explanation as to why to allow you to prevent it from happening again.
* Their support is terrible - they say things which are not true then hang up when (respectfully) challenged.
* Managers are unable/unwilling to do anything other than nod sagely but not adding any value whatsoever.
* The “additional card holder” has no value or rights - purchases for wife’s birthday present were blocked (despite me entering the code sent to my registered phone) - New Day refused to tell me anything because I’m not the main account holder but then sent my wife messages that transactions were blocked…
This has happened so often now.
Clearly no product manager or test manager involved in the app - each time there’s an app update, you gave to go through the re authentication rigmarole.

I’m hoping at some point they will change to artificial intelligence because there’s certainly not any human intelligence at New Day.

JL - please get someone who knows how to run a credit organisation. New Day are impacting your business. Over 30% 1star reviews on Trustpilot says it all.

### 1/5 — Apple Pay and Contact Issues

*2026-03-16, version 2026.10.1*

Can link my card to Apple Pay but now all the purchase history fails to show. Have gone and validated card through John Lewis but on returning to Apple Pay it says it isn’t validated. Due to this I try to access support through the app and I get a screen telling me that Azure blah blah we cannot/will not help you.

John Lewis - or whoever they sold out the credit card to are proving to be once again incompetent at getting the basics right.

### 1/5 — Shambles

*2026-03-12, version 2026.10.1*

Exactly the same problem that I had with Aqua app, the same developer, the same app issue, once u change faceid, u have to put pascode which I forgot, forgot pass option doesn't work, u have to delete app and start again.

### 1/5 — Apps gone haywire

*2026-01-29, version 2026.4.1*

Suddenly, having used Face ID for ages, I'm now faced with a Password Challenge, with no opportunity to type anything in. What is going on?

### 1/5 — Intrusive ads and promotions.

*2026-01-25, version 2026.3.1*

Intrusive ads and promotions have suddenly appeared in the transaction view. There is no way to turn these off or opt out of them. This is discriminatory against those with processing disabilities as it makes it significantly harder to understand recent transactions and makes it much easier to accidentally click on ads about unwanted services. Please turn this off or at the very least allow users to opt out. I expect much better of John Lewis as an organisation.
