### 2/5 — A monopoly

*2026-02-12, version 2.6.0*

Whilst it’s helpful to have access to a charger in A&E given that the waits are much longer these days, it’s a very expensive way to charge your phone - £5 for an hour. The charging speed is also quite slow. As there’s no alternative, these guys can name their price.

### 1/5 — Don’t use this service

*2025-10-16, version 2.5.6*

Don’t use this service

### 1/5 — awful

*2025-10-11, version 2.5.5*

i didn’t want to spend £3 just to unlock one but i needed the charge to get my bus tickets so i paid it, just for the lead to be faulty. it was unable to charge and there was no option to swap it for a working one so i was stuck having wasted £3. i get they’re used a lot so are bound to have broken cables but an exchange option would be nice.

### 1/5 — Waste of money

*2025-10-04, version 2.5.5*

Whilst I can only appreciate the convenience to have these power banks when you need charge the most but I think they have made them to charge your phone super slow so they can charge you more.

### 1/5 — Horrendous never use

*2025-09-04, version 2.5.3*

Just claim you didn’t put it back correctly and take your money, overpriced aswell probably could’ve gone and bought a good power bank to keep than the amount their charging me even though they’ve still got the power bank honestly ridiculous would never use again.

### 1/5 — First battery did not charge

*2025-07-05, version 2.5.1*

Took it out from the machine and did not work
Had to rent a second bat, which worked properly

### 1/5 — Ridiculous

*2025-05-05, version 2.4.9*

Overpriced and the battery pack I got from West Quay Southampton didn’t even charge my phone once before it ran out of charge. Need to check your charge on the power banks and your prices because £36 for 2 days is a joke also. Also, some power banks don’t even work properly.

### 1/5 — Just a shame - greedy company has driven prices up so much

*2025-01-26, version 2.4.5*

Used to be £1 to unlock and £1 per 24h. Now it’s £3 unlock, £0.58 per 30 mins (!) and if you keep it longer than 2 days you get a £30 something charge (used to be a week). Just feels like you end up paying 4x as much as you used to for a full charge.

Messaging on the app is also deliberately opaque about pricing so you can’t see it until you’re at the station.

It’s a good idea, but they got too greedy. I’d suggest using competitors (eg ChargedUp) until joos adopts a less scummy business strategy.

### 1/5 — Joos Power Bank

*2025-01-13, version 2.4.3*

I recently used a Joos power bank, and the experience was extremely disappointing. The power bank does not support fast charging, which makes it highly impractical in emergency situations. Over the course of 51 minutes, the power bank only managed to charge my device by 23%—an incredibly slow performance for a service designed to provide convenience.

The pricing also feels excessive and unfair. On top of the £3 unlock fee, the company charges £0.58 for every 30 minutes. For my 51-minute usage, I ended up paying £4.16, which is unacceptable given the poor charging speed. This setup essentially forces customers to spend more just to get a reasonable amount of charge, making it feel more like a money-making scheme than a customer-friendly service.

Joos needs to improve its service by supporting faster charging and offering better value for money. As it stands, this service is neither efficient nor economical and fails to meet basic customer expectations.

### 1/5 — Terrible

*2025-01-01, version 2.4.3*

I had an awful experience with Joos power bank chargers at the Arndale. None of the chargers I tried were working, but they still took my money! The machines don’t seem to be maintained properly, and there’s no clear way to get a refund. Completely unreliable and a waste of time and money. Avoid at all costs!

### 1/5 — Do not use this service

*2024-11-15, version 2.4.2*

Terrible! I returned the power bank and I was charged as if it hadn’t been returned. Talk via chat on the app and was told it hadn’t been returned. Only way I was told to prove it was to go back into town and take a picture of which slot I put in!! Went back into town, stressing that I was now going to be charged and took a pic…then the chat person said. Yes I can see it’s been returned!!! What the hell. Won’t be using this service again. Now I have to calm myself with a coffee and massive doughnut
