Jotter is the notes app for the moment you think “I need to write this down.” Tap New note and start typing: the first line becomes the title, and the note is saved before you finish the sentence. No sign-up, no folder to pick, no save button. WHY JOTTER • Fast: one tap on New note, the widget or Control Center, and you are typing • Free: no subscription, no ads, nothing locked • Private: no account and no Jotter server. Notes sync through your own iCloud • Yours: export any note as a PDF or text, or every note as Markdown files CHECKLISTS THAT TICK Type [] and a space to start a checklist. Tick items off with a tap — groceries, packing lists, the ten things to do before Friday. HANDWRITING WITH APPLE PENCIL Write or draw on iPad with Apple Pencil, or with your finger on iPhone, on blank, lined, grid or dotted paper. The page grows as you go. Your handwriting is read on the device, so it turns up in search, and it converts to typed text with a tap. PHOTOS, SCANS AND VOICE NOTES Take photos, scan documents, record voice notes and add files right inside a note. The text in your photos and scans is searchable, and voice notes are transcribed on your device. SEARCH THAT FORGIVES Type a word or two, in any order, without worrying about capitals or accents. Jotter searches titles, text, tags, handwriting and the words inside your pictures, and shows you the sentence it found. ORGANISE LATER, OR NEVER Pin what matters. Write a #tag and it becomes a filter. Make a folder when a set of notes wants a name. Or don’t: everything is always in All Notes. CAPTURE FROM ANYWHERE • Home Screen and Lock Screen widgets • A New note button in Control Center • Siri: “Jot down in Jotter” • The Share button in any app: save a link, photo or text into a new note or one you already have FORGIVING, AND PRIVATE Deleted notes wait in Recently Deleted for 30 days. Lock a private note behind Face ID. Set a reminder on any note. No analytics, no ads, no tracking — Jotter has no server at all. MADE FOR IPHONE AND IPAD A calm paper-and-ink design with a little comic-book fun around the edges. Light and dark mode, Dynamic Type, VoiceOver, and keyboard shortcuts on iPad, where your folders, your notes and the open note sit side by side. Jotter is free. If it earns a place on your Home Screen, you can buy the maker a coffee in Settings. It unlocks nothing, and it is entirely optional. A NEW LOOK • Every note's title gets a yellow highlighter, and headings are blue, so a long note is easy to scan • A rounded typeface and more room between lines make notes easier to read (switch faces in Settings) • Pinned notes sit at the top as sticky notes, showing their first few items • A redesigned formatting panel shows every style in its own type LISTS • Add item: one tap adds a new item, just above the ones you've ticked • Ticked items are crossed off with a marker • Sub-items now move with their item when you sink or clear ticked items FIXES • Cutting and pasting inside a note no longer loses its photos and drawings • A note left open now picks up what Siri, the Share button or your other devices add to it • Handwriting is easy to see in dark mode • Undo after removing a photo from a note brings it back • The same #tag made on two devices no longer shows up twice • VoiceOver can tick and untick checklist items • Locked notes can't be shared or duplicated from the list without Face ID Also new: Share Jotter in Settings, and — if Jotter has earned it — you can buy the maker a coffee. It's optional and unlocks nothing. ### 1.0 — 2026-09-22 No release notes. ## Apps similar to Jotter | App | Rating | Price | Category | | --- | --- | --- | --- | | [domiya: Your Home, Organized](https://appshunter.io/ios/app/domiya-your-home-organized/id6777970841) | 5.0 (1) | Free | Productivity | | [inkhour: Screen Time & Focus](https://appshunter.io/ios/app/inkhour-screen-time-and-focus/id6795171977) | 5.0 (1) | Free | Productivity | | [monolog - Your Second Brain](https://appshunter.io/ios/app/monolog-your-second-brain/id6751247984) | — | Free | Productivity | | [Jottre](https://appshunter.io/ios/app/jottre/id1550272319) | 4.8 (5) | Free | Productivity | | [Screen Time Control - Paused](https://appshunter.io/ios/app/screen-time-control-paused/id6748807463) | 5.0 (3) | Free | Productivity | | [Planner for Women](https://appshunter.io/ios/app/planner-for-women/id6764323898) | 5.0 (3) | Free | Productivity | ## More apps by Jashandeep Singh - [SmartFolio - Portfolio Tracker](https://appshunter.io/ios/app/smartfolio-portfolio-tracker/id6758073461) - [Vault Flow - Wealth Tracker](https://appshunter.io/ios/app/vault-flow-wealth-tracker/id6758531604) - [Brolic - Gym Leaderboard](https://appshunter.io/ios/app/brolic-gym-leaderboard/id6758560673) - [Gathr: Wedding Planner](https://appshunter.io/ios/app/gathr-wedding-planner/id6758989661) - [Neighbr: Local Help & Odd Jobs](https://appshunter.io/ios/app/neighbr-local-help-and-odd-jobs/id6759352996) - [Kalend: Daily Planner & Habits](https://appshunter.io/ios/app/kalend-daily-planner-and-habits/id6798521370) All apps by Jashandeep Singh: https://appshunter.io/developer/1858438700 --- *Data collected daily from the US App Store and indexed by [AppsHunter](https://appshunter.io/).
