It is impossible to transfer maps to friend, the map is accurate on the App but completely inaccurate when transferring. Absolutely NO service from the company so I asked for refund. ### 3/5 — Potentially Fantastic but Poor Execution makes it Too Clunky *2025-03-03* The only app I can find that combines videos of any length, text of any length, as many pics as you like with a map of your journey as you go. Combined with ability for others to like and comment. However, you can’t see the comments on the app, and you have to sign in to the website version to comment. Then it does sign you out properly so when you sign in again it just shows spinning wheel. No notifications sent of new content nor if comments. Many of my followers have left. THIS IS SUCH A GREAT IDEA OF AN APP, PLEASE FIX IT! ### 1/5 — Mostly undead app *2024-10-24* I tried to use this to keep a travel journal 5 years ago, and it never worked as intended. The web version of my journal has always had broken picture links, and despite multiple requests, there's never been a fix or useful suggestion. Support is nearly non-existent; I suspect it's just AI-generated responses, as their responses parrot the top results of web searches. Check out the featured travel journals on their website (if you can find it) - most of the images are broken. I wanted an app with a map so friends and family knew where I was. I liked the simple journaling interface, the ability to log locations and to caption photos. For people following the blog on a phone, the interface is a bit clumsy. The oldest entry appears first and people then have to scroll further down each day to find the newest entry. On phones there is an icon that brings up the map to find the latest entry, but this is not so obvious. I think several followers lost interest because of this. On bigger screens the map is always visible so not a problem. In the UK store the app costs £19.99 per month which I think is too expensive so sadly will be cancelling. ### 1/5 — Or worth y time *2024-05-05, version 1.6.0* I tried it out and it is not user friendly. Don’t waste your time! ### 3/5 — Solange nutzbar hervorragend - leider überteuertes Abo nach Probezeit! *2024-05-01* Ein großes Lob an die Entwickler. Ich habe seit Antritt meiner Reise eine Vielzahl an Reisetagebuch-Apps ausprobiert. Alle hatten irgendwo ein massives Manko. Entweder war es nicht möglich, die Bilder im Verlauf des Textes einzufügen oder einfach seiner Intuition zu folgen und seine Gedanken (egal wie lang Sie doch immer sein mögen) niederzuschreiben. Einige Apps baten eine Zeichen-Limit-Beschränkung. Da ich keine reine Tagebuch-App benötigte, hatte ich auch kein Bedarf an einem überteuerten Abo! Sollten die Entwickler so etwas wie ein Trinkgeld-Button hinterlegen, wäre ich nicht abgeneigt, für die weitere Entwicklung einmalig einen gewissen Beitrag zu geben. ABER leider haben die Entwickler ein überteuertes Abo nach der Probezeit etabliert, wenn die Dauer abgelaufen ist, ich die App wieder löschen werde. Zusammengefasst gefällt mir die App hervorragend. Sogar die einfache Möglichkeit seine Einträge mittels Weblink zu teilen ist eine simple Art und Weise mit der sogar meine Eltern klar gekommen sind!! Aus dem oben genannten Grund, ist die App jedoch Nichts für gelegentliche Reisen! ### 1/5 — Doesn’t work for me *2024-03-05, version 1.6.0* I gave this try and it doesn’t seem to work for me. First thing, I’m on my iPad and this app only works in portrait mode, that is usually non starter but I gave it a try. I just want to upload a few photos as a test to see them show up on a map. I uploaded about a dozen from different dates and locations and never got the map function to work. Everytime I clicked the map icon, I got message saying I needed to add photos (which I did). I will keep looking for an app to log our travels. ### 3/5 — Not too bad, some aspects need work *2023-12-18* It’s ok, however you need to be aware if adding images and video, that the syncing process needs to be improved. It takes so long to sync, and will only sync while the app is actively open. Until it syncs for the first time completely , you will not see it online if you share it, and you can’t export or publish. I had to set my phone to not automatically lock, and left it on overnight to get a full initial sync. Just something to be aware of. ### 2/5 — App was good, support not so much *2023-12-03* I had fun with the app in the beginning. Then was a bit of a pause due to Covid related limitations. As I finally get a chance to travel and use the app… I ran into an issue. I had used Facebook to log in. But with all the hate, I decided to end my Facebook account. Well I now find out I can’t log into my Journo account… after I paid for a lifetime membership. I did attempt to reach out, but no response has come. So I guess I’m out of luck. ### 4/5 — Doesn’t like landscape *2023-11-10* App looks good and capable, but doesn’t like landscape so very limiting if you like to use keyboard on your ipad ### 1/5 — Unhappy *2023-09-26, version 1.5.10* I thought this would be a fun way to share a six week adventure with friends and family. I’ve made several attempts to fix problems but no resolve in two weeks. Now that I’ve paid for a subscription my site says that I’ve “unpublished” my Journo. No I haven’t and still no help from support. I would change my rating if I could just get some help from support. ### 4/5 — Coffee table book *2023-08-30, version 1.5.10* The app claims you can get a coffee table book, but I don’t see how to do that. I thought one would actually come from the company. But it appears I have to print the journal out on my own printer which is not a coffee table book. The description of the app talks about a hardback coffee table book. Can someone please help me? ### 1/5 — A total scam *2023-08-18* I tried to use the Free Trial and was unable to access the features. I tried to contact support numerous times who replied asking the same question twice and then proceeded to ignore me. I asked for my card not to be charged and then without being able to use the trial they charged me anyway despite me asking numerous times for them to not charge my card. ### 1/5 — Invitee cannot view my journals *2023-01-27, version 1.5.8* Not very convenient for entries and have to edit them ### 2/5 — A little disappointed *2022-12-09* It’s a nice app but the map didn’t work well for me and didn’t seem to be able to be fixed despite me contacting support. I like being able to complete off line entries but sometimes there is a glitch and the pictures don’t upload properly but then I have to re do the entry. I also don’t like the fact you can’t segment/chapter your blog so your regular readers have to scroll through the whole thing in order to see the new content - on a 3 month trip this is tiresome. Lots of my friends and family have had problems trying to comment on my blog. I don’t like the fact you can see via the messages on your profile that people have commented on your content but then you have to log in via the website in order to see what was written. It’s a great concept but the reality doesn’t work so well. I regret paying for this app. The above comments have been fed back before leaving this review. ## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated) ### 1/5 — So Glitchy! *2026-07-07, version 1.6.9* Every review online gushes about this app. I trusted that. And yet it’s the glitchiest ever! The layout is intuitive. Which is great. But published doc is not the same as the one I made. Media has migrated and in some cases, duplicated, edits don’t stick and there are strange artifacts everywhere. I sent a note to “feedback” (customer service) and have not heard back. I’m so disappointed. ### 1/5 — More than disappointed *2026-04-01, version 1.6.8* I had been using this for years but their tech support has totally failed. First they wouldn’t print to pdf then I couldn’t enter a cover photo but NOW I have weeks of journal and photos that just disappeared! I cannot get this back. Do not buy this. ### 1/5 — Viewing Journals on website (by others) is broken and not being fixed *2025-09-18* As of the date I write this, trying to view journals (by others) on the web - across mobile/desktop, on different browsers and operating systems - is broken (giving a 502 error) and has been for two days now. No sign it is being fixed. This is a sign of a company with nobody at the wheel. I recommend people abandon this app, which seems no longer to be clearly supported, while you have the chance. ### 1/5 — Cannot print or save *2025-08-08, version 1.6.7* I have been using this app for several years and like it in spite of the high cost, but the inability to print or save is a major problem. I have been reaching out to tech support for over a year on this issue with no response. ### 1/5 — Unable to download as advertised *2025-07-14, version 1.6.7* Once you are in and pay the feature which I thought was great to download a printed book of my journal will not load. No can do to PDF and says working on it. No responds to messages or emails. Like others I’m frustrated that i purchased an expensive six month a subscription. It is a beautiful app and I hoped it would be great journal for a long trip. It is clunky beyond words ### 1/5 — Does not work on iPad in landscape!! *2025-03-04, version 1.6.5* This is an old looking app that only works on an iPad in portrait mode. A lot of people use iPads with a keyboard. I only use apps in landscape mode with an Apple Magic Keyboard. This app was installed a promptly deleted when that was not possible. I’m not going to waste my time with an outdated and poorly designed app. ### 1/5 — Impossible *2025-01-25, version 1.6.5* Imp impossible to sign in. Love the interface! ### 5/5 — Great travel blog, but!!! *2023-05-19* I have found the app to be excellent when it comes to recording your thoughts, activities, and photos and geo-markers along the way. My issue to date is getting any kind of print out from my trip. I have some support contact, but no solutions yet. *Update! The issues I had have been resolved, thanks to the support staff and some time to update fixes. I fully recommend Journo for those that want to record travels in both real time and end of trip editing. Great for geo-location pictures and time stamps, which is a must to keep order in story organization. ### 5/5 — I love this app *2022-11-15* I used this app on a three week Mediterranean cruise. I found it very easy to use and I am thrilled with being able to record my adventure with Journo . I did that with two other apps before finding this one. If you are serious about wanting to journal your travels anywhere in the world, this is the one to get. If you love to take pictures and share them with your friends, this is the one to get. I researched and downloaded every app out there. I tried them all out and Journo was and still is the standout winner. Most had key features missing that anyone travelling will need. Or they were just not intuitive. Highly recommended by us to anyone wanting to journal their travels and experiences! ### 5/5 — So simple! *2022-01-25* Everything in one place. I used to use Yelp to remember restaurants/bars and photos that I painstakingly organized by trip. But no way to track my thoughts. This app does it all! And so easy to use. I tried three and this is by far the easiest and fastest way to get the journaling going. So - for those of you who may be put off by the price, don’t be. The monthly subscription is less than a glass of wine and the life time is a good steak dinner. This is what I always tell myself when I splurge on something that I normally would not do.
