## What is Joy?

You call your mum on Sunday. You ask how she is. She says fine. Twenty minutes later you hang up and you still don't know what she did this week.

JOY is built for the bit that call never gets to.

You send her a photo — something from the weekend, or something from 1987 you found in a drawer. You can record a few seconds of your voice with it. On her phone, it arrives as one simple card: your picture, your words, and a button to hear you.

Then JOY asks her something. What did the kitchen smell like on a Sunday? What was your first job? She talks for a minute, or she doesn't. It saves either way.

What comes back to you is her voice. Not a status, not a score — her, telling you about the first car she owned, in the way she tells it.

NOTHING IS REQUIRED

She can look at your photo, skip everything else, and the day still counts. There is no pressure in it anywhere — no reminder that scolds.

BUILT FOR SOMEONE WHO DIDN'T ASK FOR AN APP

One thing on screen at a time. No feeds, no likes, no strangers. She never has to find a menu or learn a gesture — the day's question is simply there when she opens it.

FOR YOU, ON THE OTHER SIDE

You see when she's opened it, and what she's said. Her stories collect in one place, in order, so a year from now there's something there that didn't exist before.

HOW IT WORKS

• You connect your accounts once, with a code
• You send photos and voice messages whenever you like
• She gets one gentle session a day, with a question
• Her recordings are saved, and only your family can hear them

PRIVATE BY DEFAULT

Nothing is public. Nothing is sold. Only the people you connect to can see what's shared, and she controls whether her daily check-in answers are visible to you at all.

JOY is free.

JOY is a family connection app. It is not a medical device or a clinical service, and it does not diagnose, treat or monitor any condition. If you are concerned about someone's health, speak to a doctor.

## Version history (last 3 releases)

### 1.2.0 — 2026-10-27

JOY has been rebuilt around one idea: nothing in it should ever feel required.

• Every step of the daily session can now be skipped, and a quiet day still counts
• Recorded stories collect in one place, in order, so they build up over time
• You choose whether your daily check-in answers are shared with your family, and you can change it at any time in Settings
• A simpler way to look at photos
• You can now delete any of your recorded stories
