### 2/5 — Update!

*2017-09-20, version 14.5.2014100701*

Needs an update for ios11

### 2/5 — Please update for iOS 11

*2017-09-19, version 14.5.2014100701*

This works so I don't have to carry my JPLicks card and shows me when I have a freebie but will stop working with iOS 11. Please update!

### 2/5 — Needs more functionality

*2017-01-13, version 14.5.2014100701*

Please add scannable bar codes and monthly flavors. Order online would be a nice feature too. This could be a good app for customer communication and promotions. So much potential. Look at other vendors for inspiration.

### 2/5 — Include scannable barcode

*2017-01-04, version 14.5.2014100701*

This app should include a scannable barcode for convenience of customer and employees. This feature would make for faster transaction times and would mitigate the need to hand over ones phone.

### 2/5 — Could be better

*2015-10-23, version 14.5.2014100701*

A rewards card that doesn't show a scannable digital picture of the card or have it work with Apple wallet is kinda lame. I imagine the stores don't have the readers but why bother to develop an app and only go halfway

### 1/5 — Requires location services to use

*2014-02-04, version 2.2.20121212*

Terrible. Was hoping for passbook integration, but would have been ok with just not needing to carry the card.

Instead, this app makes the card more convenient. Why do I need location services and to check in. I don't need that with Starbucks or dunkin donuts. Why JP licks?

No, I don't need that at all. Until it changes, I won't be using this app.

### 2/5 — Location Services requires, why???

*2013-12-07, version 2.2.20121212*

Location Services is required to view store locations, which is required to get Cow Card code. Why??? App says all locations are within 50mi, I know where I am, and where JPLicks is (right in front of me). Why can't I manually enter/indicate my location on the map? Or better, the app could just list the locations rather than only populate from the limited search, it's not like they move around or appear and disappear regularly. Or if jplicks will expand to other regions, sort stores by region. GPS doesn't really need to be required, but in this app it is.

### 3/5 — So far so good.

*2012-08-06, version 1.1.0*

We'll see what happens when I try to redeem something. Can I really toss my cow card?

One thing I definitely would like though is a list of this month's flavors!

### 1/5 — Just doesn't work

*2012-08-06, version 1.1.0*

I've installed this app several times, but it continues to time out when I try to log in with my existing Cow Card acct

### 2/5 — Where do we find the registration code to sign into the app?

*2012-05-02, version 1.0.0*

I will rate it higher once I can figure out how to use it...

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Frustrated in Boston

*2023-06-03, version 23.6.2023041208*

I have tried many times to log in and changed my password many times and still get an error message from your server. This site is pitiful and should be updated. This should be simple to retrieve my points for ice cream. It’s easier to log into my Fidelity account. Your web designers need to go back to the drawing and test the site before launching it. This is not cardiac thoracic surgery! Fix it please!

### 1/5 — Pitiful

*2018-09-14, version 18.1.2015010501*

Site was built for the dark ages.
Functionality and ease of use is horrible. No real value.

### 1/5 — No Apple Wallet support

*2018-09-11, version 18.1.2015010501*

Despite App Store confirming it has Apple Wallet and family share support, it does not.
How do u give your card number to receive credit? Read the long number? How efficient is that. No bar code available for register to scan.
Can’t request credit for past purchases that was missing from App
Very poorly designed basic App that hardly called customer friendly.

### 1/5 — Needs to be updated!

*2017-04-28, version 14.5.2014100701*

If the app isn't updated before iOS 11 goes public the app won't work going forward. Needs a massive overhaul, 64-bit support, new design, Apple wallet, Apple Pay, Touch ID, etc.

### 1/5 — Useless

*2015-12-02, version 14.5.2014100701*

Why did I download this? It doesn’t seem to be useful at all

### 1/5 — Wallet not Supported

*2015-09-28, version 14.5.2014100701*

Even though the App Store page claims to support Wallet/Passbook it does not. Would be very helpful to add this functionality.

### 1/5 — Could be good...

*2015-05-26, version 14.5.2014100701*

This app should be a simple way to get your rewards card into passbook so you don't have to carry another piece of plastic. Such a simple function must now be fairly straightforward to implement...

### 1/5 — Not useful

*2015-05-23, version 14.5.2014100701*

No scan feature with phone app to avoid using rewards plastic keycard. No store monthly specials listed or anything worth checking- this is pretty useless.

### 1/5 — No menu

*2015-05-10, version 14.5.2014100701*

Needs menu or at least include a link to menu pages.

### 1/5 — Whoops!

*2014-10-13, version 14.1.2014042201*

Was hoping to have found an app that made it such that I wouldn't have to carry my card anymore. Instead found a buggy app that crashes every 10 seconds. Clearly, the app makers weren't really trying.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Charcoal Soft Serve Ice Cream 🍦

*2024-08-15, version 23.6.2023041208*

Bring back the charcoal soft serve as a permanent product! It is so delicious!

### 5/5 — No card needed

*2017-07-18, version 14.5.2014100701*

The shortcode system has worked flawlessly for years. Good job. No plastic card needed. Wish: show my balance.

### 5/5 — Works fine - fantastic loyalty program!

*2016-01-31, version 14.5.2014100701*

JP Licks doesn't have bar codes in its loyalty program (on their 'Cow Card' or in this app.). However, their alternative approach is even simpler than the Starbucks app. You just touch the shop you are entering and touch 'check in.' It gives you a 3-digit code good for 20 mins. Just show (or say) the 3 digits and your purchase is paid! No need to scan or swipe.

The app is minimal—but it also doesn't wear down like the magnetic strip on the Cow keychain Card.

That said, I give this 5 stars because JP Licks has—hands down—the best customer loyalty program I've ever tried. Unlike stingy programs like Starbucks' (where it takes forever to get a free coffee & they take it away from you if you don't use it fast), I seem to get $5 rewards regularly from JPL that I can use anytime. They give you a delicious free sundae on your first loyalty anniversary and a free sundae again every time you have a birthday. Their espresso & mocha drinks are terrific. Starbucks has totally lost me as a loyal customer; JPL rocks!

### 5/5 — Love being card free

*2012-09-08, version 1.1.0*

Love the app. It is great to go card free. Its easy to get points, redeem rewards and pay. It would be nice to get push notifications with new flavors and to be able to send a gift to a friend.

### 4/5 — Easy and functional

*2019-05-11, version 18.1.2015010501*

Just tap the front page to expose the barcode ad scan it at the register. I get messages for members only special offers.i can easily see what rewards are available to me.

### 4/5 — Finally updated - still need wallet integration

*2017-09-21, version 17.28.2017080801*

Finally updated for 64 bit, and a big improvement to get a QR code right from the first screen. Now just need to put that in wallet and it'll be perfect

### 4/5 — Love the reload feature

*2014-08-27, version 14.1.2014042201*

When the family demands ice cream, we head to JP Licks... several times, however, I forgot my wallet which is never good. Now, I can pay through my iPhone and reload 'on the go' making this so simple that even I can do it. Thank you JP!

### 4/5 — Works Fine

*2012-08-09, version 1.1.0*

No problems - entered my card number and reg code, it shows current balances. I've used it at 2 locations so far, it generates a "short code" of 3 numbers that lasts for 10 minutes, works just like swiping a card. One less piece of plastic...

### 3/5 — Hard to use

*2020-02-17, version 19.28.2019080701*

App is much better but a bit hard to use. Also, no way to enter in birthday or update profile.

### 3/5 — Bare minimum

*2017-08-29, version 14.5.2014100701*

Gives the user bare minimum but needs an update to be supported for upcoming iOS 11! I do use its basic functionality so I would like to continue doing that when upgrading.
