## What is Jukebox 2000?

Jukebox is a clean, no-nonsense player for the music you actually own.

Point it at a folder on your iPhone, or at your own WebDAV / NAS or Jellyfin server, and Jukebox builds a fast local index of your artists, albums, and songs. No streaming subscription, no account, no ads — just your library, ready to play.

WHY JUKEBOX

• Play YOUR files. MP3, M4A/AAC, FLAC, ALAC, WAV, AIFF and more — straight from your own storage.
• Bring your own server. Add a WebDAV source (Nextcloud, a NAS, a home server) or connect a Jellyfin server, and stream your whole collection, sorted automatically by artist and album.
• Local files too. Add any folder from the Files app — On My iPhone, iCloud Drive, an external or SMB share — and it just works.
• Find anything fast. Filter by artist, album, or genre and search your whole library as you type.
• Shuffle your way. Shuffle everything, a single artist, or one album.
• A player you'll enjoy. Full-screen now-playing artwork in portrait, a Winamp-style landscape view, a real-time spectrum and a 5-band equalizer.
• Apple Watch. See what's playing and control it from your wrist — play/pause, skip and scrub.
• Beautiful cover art. Embedded artwork is used first; missing art is looked up online and cached — in the list, the player, and on your lock screen.
• Real controls. Lock-screen, Control Center and AirPlay playback with background audio so the music keeps going.
• iPhone & iPad. A native layout for both.

NOW IN 7 LANGUAGES

Jukebox speaks English, German, French, Italian, Spanish, Japanese and Chinese — switch the language any time in Settings.

PRIVACY FIRST

Jukebox doesn't collect any data about you. No account, no analytics. Your library stays on your device and your own server. The only network requests are to your WebDAV server (if you add one) and, optionally, to look up missing album art.

FREE TO TRY

Free playback runs for 1 hour a day — enough to genuinely enjoy it. A single one-time purchase unlocks unlimited playback forever. No subscription.

Jukebox is for people who keep their own music and want a simple, private player to enjoy it.

Shuffle now tells you what it is shuffling.

• The All / Artist / Album buttons under the artwork are labelled "Shuffle:" and look like buttons now. They always started a shuffle, but they read like library filters, so shuffle seemed to switch itself on
• Whichever one is running lights up, so you can see at a glance whether you are shuffling your whole library, one artist or one album
• "Shuffle artist" follows the song you are listening to. It used to shuffle whichever artist came first alphabetically, whatever was playing
• It also no longer restarts the current song when that artist has just one track in your library
• New in Settings › Library: Track order. Pick "Folders" and Jukebox plays a folder's files in order, then moves on to the next folder — the setting to choose if your files have no tags
• Songs you start from the folder browser keep their artist, album, artwork and length instead of playing untitled
• The shuffle menu is translated everywhere it appears — it used to stay in English

Several of these came from one detailed review. Thank you for writing in — please keep it coming.

Siri spricht jetzt deine Sprache.

### 1.0.87 — 2026-08-19

Shuffle finally survives a relaunch.

• Fixed a long-standing bug where quitting and reopening the app could scramble your play order — some albums playing in sequence, others randomly, or shuffle appearing off while still shuffling behind the scenes
• Your shuffle setting, and the exact order it was in, now persist correctly across launches — including the Up Next list
Now you can ask Siri.

• Say "Play Deep Purple on Jukebox" — or a song, album, or playlist by name — and it starts playing immediately, no need to open the app
• The same actions are also available in the Shortcuts app, so you can build your own automations around your library

Support Jukebox

- If the app has earned a spot in your day, you can now leave a small optional tip — the "Token of appreciation" — in Settings › Support. Jukebox stays completely free and fully functional; this is purely a thank-you if you'd like to give one.

Plus minor fixes and polish.

### 1.0.84 — 2026-07-26

Offline downloads and Apple Watch playback

- Download songs, albums or whole playlists from your networked libraries (WebDAV/Jellyfin) for offline listening — they play straight from the device, no connection needed.
- Sync a playlist to your Apple Watch and play it on its own over Bluetooth, without your phone nearby.
- New Downloads screen (Settings > Offline) shows storage used and lets you manage what's saved.
- A progress indicator in the toolbar shows downloads and watch sync at a glance.
- Fixed: tapping a playlist now opens it instead of closing the screen.
