### 2/5 — Has potential

*2017-02-06*

I like all the features this app has but it won't let me purchase the next episode. I can't get past episode 1.

### 2/5 — Love/Hate

*2016-07-17*

Love the story and bonus features, but the app doesn't work right. When listening in the audible format, it takes you back to where you started when you have to pause it. And the there is no way to fast-forward it except in 15-second increments. That is way too slow when you have been listening for even a half-hour, and then have to fast-forward to where you left off. If you've been listening longer, it's even worse.

### 2/5 — Love the idea

*2016-07-12*

Every time I return to reading the book the app brings me back to the very 1st page of the book. There is no way to move forward through the section except 1 page at a time.

### 2/5 — Good book, frustrating app.

*2016-07-03*

The book is a lot of fun. The app is pretty frustrating – logs out in between uses, doesn't properly bookmark your location (especially between devices), doesn't switch usually between text and audio. I would prefer a traditional book or audiobook.

### 2/5 — Completely frustrating

*2016-06-30*

Love the story. It's amazing. But the app is awful. Every time I sign in to continue reading after this last update, my place is lost and randomly put in to the middle of the first episode. It's frustrating to scroll through and try to find my place every time I want to continue reading.

### 2/5 — Ok story, PIA app

*2016-06-03, version 1.0.8*

Downloads are not occurring on time and no way to prompt them. Page turning is awkward and slow. Can only read it in portrait view, not landscape. Little additional detail features are nice.
Is it just me or are the chapters short?
I know serials were all the rage back in the day, but I think I prefer a full "book".

### 1/5 — Horrible

*2016-05-29, version 1.0.8*

Just doesn't work.

### 1/5 — Belgravia great.....NOT!

*2016-05-28, version 1.0.8*

If I could give this app no stars I would, it is such a shame that the app lets down the content. Having to login all the time is maddening. I am not reading, it but using as an audio book and it is very hard to navigate through the episodes if you should fall asleep and want to start half way through. It's driving me crazy. Less snazzy bits and more on the basics would be good. Most of all get....'remember me' on the login.

### 1/5 — Terrible app

*2016-05-26, version 1.0.8*

App will not keep me signed in. No way to keep episodes from past weeks and no way to tell the app to sync and retrieve the newest weeks episode. Would greatly prefer reading this via Kindle.

### 1/5 — Useless

*2016-05-26, version 1.0.8*

If you want to bother to read the book get it on iBooks. The app is hopeless you cannot purchase through it or download to it. I have just tried to purchase episode 8 and have given up. Definitely not fit for purpose.

### 1/5 — App not working

*2016-05-25, version 1.0.8*

I've paid for the full subscription, but haven't been able to go past the first chapter. Chapter 2 never downloaded even though at some point chapters 3 & 4 did. However, I decided to wait until chapter 2 was ready to read them in order. Bad decision: they've all disappeared now! No help within the app to sort it out, and my email asking for help was never answered

### 1/5 — Nothing after Chapter 1

*2016-05-24, version 1.0.8*

Update won't open. Before update, wouldn't show episodes 2 & 3 despite release date past. Can't pay for any more episodes if app won't work (and don't feel like bothering with other sources).

### 1/5 — Poor performing app

*2016-05-24, version 1.0.8*

The app operation is very poor. I would have rather paid more and read on kindle. Please place a bookmark function. Also unable to increase font size on iPad, will not respond to touch. Page turning very slow. Otherwise story seems catching, just don't stop reading episode or you need to find spot all over again.
Please repair the mechanics.

### 1/5 — Not fit for purpose

*2016-05-22, version 1.0.8*

The app keeps crashing and episodes that were previously downloaded disappear and are no longer available. I've paid a full series subscription but am unable to read the latest episodes. No clear offer of help available in-app either. I should have stuck to buying via the kindle store instead of wasting my money on this!

### 1/5 — Great story, poor delivery

*2016-05-20, version 1.0.8*

Everytime a new episode is released I have to redownload the app in order to read the episode. The newest update won't allow me to access the most recent episode. Perhaps they will get it right before the finale.

### 1/5 — Why oh why won't this app work?

*2016-05-20*

I got the app the first day it was available. Every time I try to listen to a new episode I have a problem but can eventually listen to the chapter. But today, chapter 7 was released. The app has said "downloading" since last night. During the day today I got a notification on my phone saying it was available. I tried as soon as I got home from work. Still downloading!! Ugh!! I am a huge fan but so frustrated that this app won't work. Not a good reflection of Julian Fellow's brand. PLEASE FIX THIS!!!

### 1/5 — Good story, bad app

*2016-05-19, version 1.0.7*

The app does not remember where you left off reading, so unless you have time to finish a chapter don't bother starting as you will have to try to manually figure out where you left off next time you pick it up. Wish I had known this before I bought the whole book, then I would have stopped at just one episode.

### 2/5 — Good Idea, Bad App

*2016-05-19, version 1.0.7*

Pretty annoying to have to log back in every time I use the app. Because of this, I lose my place in the story if I stop reading halfway through an episode. Takes me forever to find where I left off. I've also had issues downloading episodes and having the app crash on me. Good example of bad tech destroying a good idea.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Disastrous App

*2016-06-19, version 1.0.8*

Great story, loved the serialisation. Terrible app that didn't work, had to resort to reading the chapters via the emailed links, frustrating delays when loading content and turning pages. Wish I had waited and simply bought the book as a whole

### 1/5 — Bad app

*2016-06-18, version 1.0.8*

If Julian Fellows ever puts out another book, especially one that releases chapters weekly, I won't read it unless the app greatly improves. It requires constant sign ins, pages are slow to turn, it doesn't remember where I left off. It actually took the joy out of reading the story.

### 1/5 — Such a let down

*2016-06-18, version 1.0.8*

The whole experience of this book has been ruined by the poor app. I would much rather have waited until the book was published. It downloads badly. I can't leave in the middle of an episode without knowing when I go in next it will be back at the start. Poor show. Agree with all other reviews and surprised that there have not been more.

### 1/5 — Good book. Horrible app

*2016-06-18, version 1.0.8*

App interface is horrible. Requires constant signing in, slow downloads, doesn't save location, poor baby interface. Just a real pain. After 4 chapters I finally purchased all the chapters in Apple Books. The "features" in the app (embedded links with additional info) are just not worth the pain of the app itself. Epic failure.

### 1/5 — Simply does not work

*2016-06-16*

While this is a beautifully-written story, the complete failure of the app and the problematic web-based interface defeats enjoyment and inflames irritation. Having purchased a full subscription, the episodes do not download to iPad and are only intermittently accessible via web browser. No solutions have been forthcoming. Annoying and disappointing

### 1/5 — Love the story, hate the app

*2016-06-10, version 1.0.8*

If I didn't like the story so much I would've just abandoned it, the app is so frustrating. You always have to uninstall it and reinstall it, log in multiple times, the bonus features don't work properly, it can't keep your place, the audio version has large gaps.. I could go on. A very frustrating user experience.

### 1/5 — Unusable after update

*2016-06-06, version 1.0.8*

The first episode made me ready for the next so I subscribed. I was unable to use it on multiple devices as indicated and after the update that was supposed to correct that, nothing would load. A complete disappointment and if I could return for a refund, I would. The story holds my interest but the app is a complete disappointment.

### 1/5 — Kills battery

*2016-06-04*

Very recently I had noticed my battery draining fast and was worried my phone was dying. Last night I charged my phone to 100% and went to bed after listening to the audio version for 15 minutes. When I woke, my phone was dead. Belgravia was the only open app on my phone. I usually swipe all closed each night. It was then that I realized my battery issues directly correspond to my use of the app. It's as if it is constantly running in the background at full force. In addition to all of the other horrible app problems (which everyone else has detailed in full here) it's a battery eater.

### 1/5 — Frustrating app

*2016-06-02, version 1.0.8*

This app is so glitchy it's affecting what should be a good story. The episodes don't download properly. I'm constantly getting kicked off the app. The episodes don't download on the day they are suppose to. I wish I could give negative stars for this app.

### 1/5 — Worst app ever, seriously

*2016-05-29, version 1.0.8*

Well, my latest issue is that all my downloads are GONE. But that's the tip of the iceberg. It doesn't remember password, it doesn't remember where you are in the chapter sobyoubhave to scroll ahead to find your place. Whoever wrote this should be ashamed of themselves and Julian Fellowes should have tested this before releasing it. Too bad, too, because I like the story.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Great story, and the app is much better

*2016-09-18*

This app changed for the better. It had a lot of problems when it first appeared but they seem to have fixed them all. Great story, solid app.

### 5/5 — Great Story, App Getting Better

*2016-04-30, version 1.0.4*

Enjoying the storyline & characters. The app is getting easier to use.

### 5/5 — No problem...

*2016-04-28, version 1.0.3*

Problem solved by deleting and re-installing app. All is working perfectly now. A really exciting venture! Happy reading...

### 5/5 — Great start! Some bugs to work out, though

*2016-04-23, version 1.0.3*

Love the story!
Some suggestions:
I would be grateful if you would include some additional maps:
One of Europe with the countries marked.
One of Belgium with every location mentioned in the story line.
Plus,
if no one has mentioned it, the adjustment for the font size won't stay and many times does not function. Difficult for those of us who need a larger size.
Thank you!

### 5/5 — What fun!

*2016-04-14, version 1.0.2*

As soon as I read about this, I had to download it! As soon as I downloaded it, I had to read it! What fun! So much more than a book. I can't wait for the next installment!

### 3/5 — Belgravia

*2016-05-18, version 1.0.7*

I haven't started reading the book yet but am downloading the chapters as they become available. Sometimes it works ok but more time is just stalls on downloading or updating. Very disappointed, need to fix the glitches.

### 3/5 — Great Story terrible Reader App

*2016-05-06*

Im loving the story, but, wow, that is one terrible reader/audio Player App.!! It won't remember your place, makes you sign back in every time you come back, and jumps to the end of a chapter when you press the fast forward. I wish the most-excellent author would just give the book over to Audible or a talented podcaster app that knows how to handle such things already. The story is worth the struggle though. It's best to plan to read each chapter completely in one setting to avoid frustration with the app.

### 3/5 — App doesn't work well

*2016-05-05*

I'm enjoying the storyline, when I can get to it! The episodes take a long time to download, there is no bookmark function, and the pages are very "sticky" -- almost impossible to turn. So if I leave an episode in the middle, when I come back, I have to spend minutes trying to turn the very difficult pages to wherever I left off. The app doesn't seem to hold a history of where you last were. Very primitive compared to most e-books.
Too bad because the story is fun, the concept is great, and the digital features fascinating.

### 3/5 — Awful, simply awful

*2016-04-29*

UPDATED REVIEW AFTER DELETING AND REINSTALLING APP: Same login as website now works. New chapters have downloaded. Everything seems to work. To get to login, you first have to click through on episodes and then it will prompt you to login. I still don't like that I can't seem to find an easier way to flip thru a chapter other than a page at a time. Also, the audio player works on the app, which I couldn't get to work thru the website. Pretty good story and I like to listen in the car after I've read the chapter!
BEFORE DELETING APP: Same problems as everybody else. App won't open properly after update. Chapters aren't loading. Unfortunately the website isn't much better. Too bad, it's a pretty good story and cool concept.

### 3/5 — Synching devices

*2016-04-16*

Like Paul, I am reviewing the app. I haven’t yet started to read the book.

The various bits of extra info (maps, family tree, etc) are nicely done. The one concern I have is that the info about this app talks about synchronizing across devices but it isn’t clear how to do that. Once I had registered on my iPhone, I couldn’t find a way to use that same registration on my iPad. So now I have 2 accounts for Belgravia. I’m guessing that will mean that I can only read it on one without paying for it twice. Sigh...
