### 1/5 — AI driven and buggy

*2026-08-22, version 5.4.0*

Full of bugs and inconsistencies. AI conversations are weird and jump all over the place. Sometimes the audio just stops or the conversation suddenly changes to a completely different context, like you’re checking into a hotel and suddenly the receptionist you were talking to becomes a friend who is asking you about dinner.

### 1/5 — Do Not Allow Automatic Renewal

*2026-08-22, version 5.4.0*

Be sure to cancel the automatic renewal until you’re certain that you will continue using the app. I chose a different path after signing up for this and was charged again a year later. I canceled immediately the day I was charged but they refused to refund me and stated that I was not eligible for a refund. Beware.

### 1/5 — Too many mistakes - far too frustrating to use - money wasted ☹️

*2026-08-22, version 5.4.0*

Good idea but like most AI it makes too many mistakes. It rarely captures what’s I say correctly, however careful I am to speak clearly and to remove any background noise.

### 4/5 — Nihongo

*2026-08-22, version 5.4.0*

I’m enjoying speaking

### 1/5 — horrible business

*2026-08-21, version 5.4.0*

Bought an intro subscription only for the app to say I am not subscribed and company trying to sell upgrade. after paying $79 i get repeated lessons and everything else is locked. stick with duolingo

### 1/5 — Scam? Poor quality

*2026-08-21, version 5.4.0*

They claim this app is not like Duolingo and yet the initial experience is almost exactly Duolingo. The promise of using AI to enable more of a conversational focus. Learning experience is a great one. However they within usable quality. The voice experience is pretty terrible. It is not at all natural or fluid. It doesn’t understand what you’re saying. Click bait. don’t subscribe like I did. Save your money.

### 1/5 — If this isn’t a scam, it’s scam-adjacent.

*2026-08-21*

I hadn’t been making very good progress on Duolingo, and after seeing a Facebook ad for Jumpspeak, I decided to sign up online. It was $79, which was expensive, but I figured it would motivate me. I should’ve gotten wary when I saw that—even after I spent nearly 80 bucks—the website immediately tried to get me to upgrade to “Premium” (for a lot more money, of course). So I came here and downloaded the app. What a letdown! The layout is confusing, not intuitive at all, and there’s very little direction about how to break it down into lessons. Worst of all, the vast majority of features and lessons have the little “lock”symbol, indicating that they’re for Premium users only, and the app still keeps trying to make you shell out extra money to upgrade.
For $79, I expect a standalone educational app that doesn’t constantly try to sell me an upgrade and taunt me with sections I can’t even open without dropping another $150. There really should be two separate apps and the non-premium one should be worth the money.
Considering that Duolingo is free and much easier to use, this is a no-brainer. If they didn’t make it so difficult to cancel your subscription and get your money back, I would’ve deleted this worthless app already. Don’t waste your money.

**Developer response:** Your experience is invaluable, and we appreciate your candid feedback. It's concerning to hear that you found the app layout confusing and felt pressured to upgrade after your initial purchase. We strive to provide a clear and enriching learning experience, and your insights will help us improve. ### 4/5 — App is a scam

*2026-08-20, version 5.3.18*

They claim to have a 100 day free trial but if you try to cancel they say the trial period is only 30 days. Then they will continue to bill your credit card after you cancel for future subscriptions. I wish I’d read trustpilot reviews before signing up to save myself the headache. Stay away.

Update after developer response: I contacted support and asked them to a refund. After several days of delays, I was met with responses that did not address my questions or concerns. The responses either came from bots or from agents who did not read English very well. Either way, none of my concerns were addressed. I asked my credit card for a chargeback.

### 2/5 — Buggy

*2026-08-20, version 5.3.18*

I’m using Jumpspeak to brush up my Japanese for an upcoming trip. My pronunciation is good yet the app misses words and tells me I said things I never said, then it “corrects” me with nonsensical feedback. The role play is bizarre, asking and answering questions in the wrong sequence. I’m using it but it’s weird and annoying.

### 1/5 — Very poor

*2026-08-19, version 5.3.17*

This really isn’t t worth the money. The AI pronunciation is terrible and the supposedly interactive conversations are very proscriptive - if you go off script it just ignores what you’ve said and carries on with the suggested script. Thought I was doing a 3 month trial but they refused to refund my money. Don’t bother.

### 1/5 — Not good for learning japanese

*2026-08-18*

No support. Poor pronunciation… sometimes not even japanese. Slow response. All in all, after paying, i stopped using it.

**Developer response:** It's disappointing to hear about your experience with the app, especially regarding pronunciation and support. We genuinely appreciate your feedback, as it helps us understand what needs attention. The concerns you've raised about audio accuracy and responsiveness are important, and we’ve escalated these issues internally. Please reach out to our support team at https://help.jumpspeak.com for assistance. Your input is invaluable in helping us improve, and we hope you consider giving it another try in the future.

### 1/5 — Save yourself the aggravation - Scam Invasive/stressful/can't cancel/charged card

*2026-08-18, version 5.3.17*

This is my latest letter to Jumpspeak:
Please reverse the charges to my credit card. You sold me a free trial subscription and charged my card the same day. I would say that amounts to fraud. There is nothing under subscriptions in my Apple account with your business name.
I will report you to the government fraud agency, the better business bureau and anyone else who will listen.

Worse than, I imagined. It doesn't show up under my subscriptions to cancel. And they've already charged my credit card even though they're supposed to have a trial period.
The app asks you 1 million questions before you sign up. And once you do and you purchase, it asks you 1 million more.... I deleted the app and tried to stop the purchase, but I couldn't find a way to do that. I'll just have to keep my eye on it.

### 1/5 — Awful experience

*2026-08-17, version 5.3.17*

Horrible app, impossible to login or use, buggy, charged for a subscription I was unable to cancel then refused a refund

### 1/5 — Keeps taking money

*2026-08-15, version 5.3.17*

I paid for the trial but didn’t want to continue so cancelled the subscription . They took £26 for a further month. I tried to contact them but they didn’t reply. I have cancelled with my bank but they keep messaging me trying to take payment!

### 2/5 — Pros and cons

*2026-08-13, version 5.3.17*

I liked several things about Jumpspeak. It encourages you to actually speak, and the conversations felt much more like real-world situations than the disconnected vocabulary drills or unnatural practice sentences found in some language apps.

Unfortunately, the speech recognition became frustrating enough that I decided to cancel. The app often seemed to assess my pronunciation before I had finished speaking, or it would cut me off and then tell me I had not completed the word or phrase. That made practicing feel discouraging rather than helpful.

I was also disappointed with the cancellation experience. It was not easy to find a clear path to cancel, and I repeatedly ended up being directed between different pages. I eventually managed to cancel, but one of my refund requests was denied because I was just outside the 30-day refund period. They did honor the separate $69 refund that was covered by their 100-day guarantee, which I appreciate.

Given how easy it is for a free trial to convert to a paid subscription, I also think a reminder shortly before the trial ends would be a courteous feature, particularly when the cancellation process itself is not especially straightforward.

There are genuinely good ideas behind Jumpspeak, especially the emphasis on speaking and practical conversation, but the technical frustrations and cancellation experience outweighed the positives for me.

### 1/5 — No support and no money back guarantee - big scam

*2026-08-13, version 5.3.17*

I have tried emailing the support team for half a year trying to get a refund under their 100 day money back guarantee since they overload their AI chat and learning was inferior to Duolinguo, but they never responded. You also can’t cancel your billing unless you contact support, so I’ve had to cancel my credit card so they can’t rebill me. They’re absolute scammers! Best to stick with Duolinguo.

### 1/5 — Terrible

*2026-08-12*

What a massive waste of money. You just listen to ppl speaking a language you know nothing about. It advertises that you will be speaking with someone but that a load of hooey.

### 1/5 — Useless not at all like in the ads

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Illegal subscription renewal process - do not buy until they fix this!

*2026-08-30*

Don’t buy this product and until they fix this billing fault! I cancelled my renewal to this service a month ago. After receiving zero reminders about subscription renewal timing, and not having logged in or used the the product in almost a year. A month later, Imagine my annoyance to have a failed payment notification when they’re STILL trying to charge for another 12 month subscription a month later anyway, BUT have now removed all options in the customer portal now to cancel. Only option is to update my card for payment. This is not an only illegal to not provide an option to cancel a service. It’s extortion. Seeing as all the emails are from no reply addresses, now I’ll have to waste an hour of my life reporting to Apple and blocking through my bank. I’ll also be making a complaint to the ACCC.
If you as a potential customer don’t want to go through the same just to cancel, DO NOT buy this product until the company have verified publicly that they have ceased this illegal billing practice and taken some accountability for this completely unethical sales practice. Tech bros who rely on this non reminder approach to exploit the fact that it’s slipped off your radar and steal your money under the justification that this was covered in their t’s and c’s are the literal worst of humanity. Do and be better!

### 1/5 — Email kerfluffle

*2026-08-28, version 5.4.2*

Now 1 star. Ugh.

Two things about the app that are frustrating right now I’m hoping they can fix them both!

The first - if you sign up on their Instagram ad with one email, and it’s not the email in your credit card account, then the system has a problem letting you into the iOS app.

The second (which is arguably a more serious problem) is if you have completed some lessons and then log out and log back in… the system does NOT remember the lessons you completed to that point.

But wait - it gets worse. Never heard back about the “missing progress” info, so I decided to cancel.

I thought it canceled properly and we get a refund Such a day or so I asked where the refund was. I mean, it seems only fair: if you’re billing me at the start of a trial, when I cancel I want the money back.

So out of curiosity I wanted to see what the status was, and I assume after they confirmed my account information. They said if you canceled within 7 days, you should receive a credit in 3 to 5 days. It depends on your card/bank.

But for some reason, I had a bad feeling about this, because I realized after they should be able to see the date I canceled.

So I googled how to request a refund from these folks. Turns out it’s a separate page and login method to request a refund for the charge on your trial. I’m not gonna say it’s deceptive but the website where I first canceled really looked like I had canceled everything, but apparently that only canceled the renewal.

### 1/5 — Not all Languages

*2026-08-27, version 5.4.2*

It doesn’t offer Indonesian, if your going to hype an app up atleast have this available for people. Just has basic languages to learn so I didn’t go any further once I couldn’t find Indonesian. Back to the green bird it is.

### 1/5 — Do not get this app

*2026-08-27, version 5.4.2*

This app is not good for learning any language. They don’t teach you the fundamentals. They just jump you straight into conversations with words that you never heard before, they don’t define those words, and that you have no idea how to pronounce. I regret purchasing the app and wish I could get a refund.

### 1/5 — Unusable

*2026-08-27, version 5.4.2*

The voice recognition simply does not work. The app is unusable. Requesting a refund.

### 1/5 — Scam

*2026-08-26, version 5.4.0*

Paid an annual subscription for my kid and not able to use it after a few months. It says subscribe even though we are logged in.

### 1/5 — Poor Customer Service

*2026-08-26, version 5.4.0*

They make it extremely difficult to get in touch with their customer support.

### 1/5 — Don’t waste your money

*2026-08-25*

I paid for this service and never got to use the full benefit of it because it would not register the account I’d subscribed to. The lessons are random and don’t teach you anything other than to parrot what they want you to say but not even registering when you say things. Now they keep emailing me even though I’ve unsubscribed.

**Developer response:** It's concerning to hear that you faced issues with your subscription and that the lessons weren't functioning as expected. We understand how frustrating it must be to not receive the full benefit of the service you paid for. Regarding the emails, we want to ensure you have control over your preferences. If you're still receiving communications after unsubscribing, we will address this internally. Please reach out to our support team at https://help.jumpspeak.com for assistance. Your feedback is invaluable in guiding our efforts to enhance the experience for everyone.

### 1/5 — Chinese lessons don’t explain what went wrong

*2026-08-25, version 5.4.0*

I was trying to go through Chinese lessons and it just didn’t pick up some times. The ai seems to be ok with native speakers, but that’s not the point of a language teaching app. It doesn’t even provide the pinyin when you try to dig in. And since new beginners don’t know how to surface a character, it’s very difficult to ask the tutor.

If you’re here for Chinese, save your money.

### 1/5 — Absolutely Horrible

*2026-08-23, version 5.4.0*

Avoid this app at all costs. Jumpspeak’s billing practices are deceptive and unnecessarily confusing. The subscription terms and charges are not presented transparently.

There are plenty of other language-learning apps that are more upfront about what you’re paying for. If you choose to proceed with Jumpspeak anyway, you will regret it.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Just started, but…

*2026-08-17, version 5.3.17*

I just started using Jumpspeak, but so far I am impressed. It seems better than other apps I have tried. Can’t wait to see how far I can go.

### 5/5 — Great supplement!

*2026-08-12, version 5.3.17*

Jumpspeak is a great enhancement to my traditional learning course. It gives me more opportunities to create spoken sentences on my own.

### 5/5 — Fun

*2026-08-08, version 5.3.16*

Easy to l learn with this way.

### 5/5 — Jumpspeak beginner

*2026-08-02, version 5.3.14*

I’m really enjoying the lessons. They’re broken down into intros, vocabulary, listening, speaking, and asking my own phrases. I’m making progress..

### 5/5 — Great way to learn and get better

*2026-07-25, version 5.3.12*

I’m already a decent Spanish speaker so I needed something pretty advanced where I could practice regularly and keep learning vocabulary. This app focuses more on real communication that you have to do while traveling and I find that super helpful. Way better than Duolingo for me.

### 5/5 — Worth it

*2026-07-14, version 5.3.10*

This may be a bit more money but I promise it is worth it. You have real conversations! Not just repeating all the time. There are exercises that span different learning styles too. It’s a great tool and my Dutch girlfriend gets so excited when I say things correctly! They HATE when you botch their language! Lol

### 5/5 — Hola!

*2026-07-13, version 5.3.10*

I’m so happy with this method. I committed to 10 minutes a day but find myself doing at least 20!

### 5/5 — Draw

*2026-07-12, version 5.3.10*

This language app is perfect for a beginner. Absolutely perfect! I’m so happy I’m actually learning and having fun doing it.😜 Jumpspeak is amazing and by far the best👍🏾

### 5/5 — Review

*2026-07-03, version 5.3.9*

User friendly and friendly like that I can do a lesson in minutes. Small chunks are easier and done in the most beneficial way.

### 5/5 — Interesting approach

*2026-07-02, version 5.3.9*

Have studied several languages - have a 384 day streak going on Duolingo - mostly Spanish - so excited to add another very different method. Vamos!!
