### 4/5 — Can‘t load notebook

*2026-04-03*

I can connect to my jupyter server and it correctly lists the available notebooks etc. But the notebook view itself does unfortunately not load. I can’t use this app.

Edit: I could fix the connection issues eventually. Connecting to a server exposed via tailscale did not work and I had to change my setup to use a https reverse proxy. Now it does work fine most of the time, but occasionally there are errors and the error messages of this app are very unhelpful to diagnose and fix any problems. I would appreciate more informative error messages.

**Developer response:** Hey 👋—JupyterLab 4 isn’t fully supported yet I'm afraid; in the meantime, you should be able to connect by installing Jupyter’s `nbclassic` package, and updating the server's URL in Juno Connect to `{SERVER_ADDRESS}/nbclassic/tree`. This will work seamlessly alongside JupyterLab 4 / Notebook 7 installation using their backend components. Fell free to reach out to help@juno.sh if you stumble upon any issues. 😇

### 4/5 — Overall great app but some minor bugs (ipad 9th gen)

*2025-10-31, version 1.6.13*

So far interface has been great and really looking forward to text size change integrated into the app so I can fit more text on my screen. I have faced some bugs in the app related to restart and run all command. Clicking this breaks the connection causing an infinite loop and disconnect and reconnect with no cells being run. Another bug has been highlighted code when in cell. I face issues with highlighting multiple lines which is kinda annoying since this seems like something really basic feature. Also faced a small issue with creating a jupyter notebook file on the server (button does not seem to work). While this might make the app seem terrible, just know even with these issues, this app has a made it a joy to take my ipad with me on the go to my classes and being able to edit, run, and create new models!!!

### 4/5 — After trouble shooting, works amazing!

*2025-10-23*

While I did have to do a lot trouble shooting at first with getting my remote jupyter files to display (connecting to personal machine) by changing to using nbclassic, the app itself looks and runs so smoothly on my ipad 9th gen. I can already see how this will be amazing for working on the go and can’t wait to see how it will expand my work on the ipad when going to classes or traveling. The fact this app only costed 4.99 honestly surprises with the great UI (some hiccups here and there) and Jupyter integration

### 3/5 — Ok for rudimentary use

*2025-09-01*

It does what it says. However, the coding window is quite basic. For instance, I miss the option to close, duplicate and split Jupyter panels. Moreover, for everybody who experiences the „failed to display notebook“ problem, please check the troubleshooting page of the developer. Unfortunately, Juno Connect does not support JupyterLab servers, which are the current standard as far as I understand. Would be nice to get this modality running at some point.
Nonetheless, it works in what it is and for many use cases it‘s ok.

### 3/5 — Any plans to update this app?

*2024-10-03*

This app is good, but have some minor issues :( I cannot delete added servers even I cleared every session. I hope there will be updated soon

**Developer response:** 👋 Hey—you should be able to delete a server by swiping on the row in the servers list. Please reach out to help@juno.sh if it doesn't work, and I will look into this.

### 1/5 — Really disappointed

*2024-07-31, version 1.6.13*

I was hoping i could get one week or a few weeks to trial the app. I bought it. I am not the techiest person, so i wrote to support asking for… support to use the app and get the most of it and i have been completely ignored. I am going to ask for a refunding.

### 1/5 — App is outdated and no longer seems to be maintained

*2024-07-27, version 1.6.13*

Connecting to a instance of a Jupyter lab fails as it attempts to connect to “<server>:<server-port>/tree?” rather than /lab/tree

### 2/5 — Integration with COCALC is barely usable

*2024-06-17*

In the past it was better, but for some reason, the integration with COCALC servers became really bad, timing out most of the time. Also, when I try a different kernel, Julia 1.10 for instance, it times out ALL the time, even though I have a dedicated server running the notebook.

### 1/5 — Failed to display notebook

*2023-10-06, version 1.6.13*

Python 3.11.0rc1
jupyter 1.0.0

jupyter-console 6.6.3
jupyter_core 5.3.1
jupyter-events 0.7.0
jupyter-lsp 2.2.0
jupyter_server 2.7.3
jupyter_server_terminals 0.4.4
jupyter-telemetry 0.1.0

### 2/5 — v2?

*2023-09-16*

what is the latest with Juno connect?
Is there a roadmap for this?
I really enjoy it and it comes in handy bit there‘s no update for some time :-(

**Developer response:** Hey 👋 — I'm working on a major update for Juno Connect, although it may take some time by the looks of it, I'm afraid. Meanwhile, feel free to report any breaking or urgent issues in the bug tracker on GitHub, or to help@juno.sh.

### 1/5 — Not working with the latest version of Jupyter Notebooks

*2023-08-26, version 1.6.13*

This app doesn’t appear to work with Jupyter Notebooks version 7 or greater (Jupyter Lab 4). I paid for it but never got to use it I don’t want to downgrade my working environment.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — 表示されない

*2026-01-15*

Jupyter notebookには接続できるが
肝心のノートはFailed to display notebookと言われ表示できない。
またCoCalcに接続できないのも不便

### 1/5 — Not working

*2025-12-02, version 1.6.13*

Can’t get the app to display my notebook, which displays fine in web browsers

### 1/5 — Does not respond to support requests

*2025-11-05, version 1.6.13*

Per the screenshots and other documentation this app natively supports integration with "cocalc" which is a type of virtual computing service. So far, i cannot find an option to add cocalc anywhere in the actual app interface- reached out twice, no response yet. Will update when/if i get a response

### 1/5 — Can‘t load notebook

*2025-10-17, version 1.6.13*

I can connect to my jupyter server and it correctly lists the available notebooks etc. But the notebook view itself does unfortunately not load. I can’t use this app.

### 1/5 — Didn’t work at all

*2025-07-04, version 1.6.13*

I tried to connect to my local Jupyter server using ssh fort forwarding. Didn’t work and it has bug. It can’t connect to Jupyter lab.

### 1/5 — failed to display notebook

*2025-01-26*

Ich kann leider kein einziges Notebook öffnen, somit ist die App nutzlos für mich. Auf github wird eine Lösung vorgeschlagen, diese kommt für mich jedoch nicht in Frage.

### 1/5 — Do Not Buy

*2025-01-24, version 1.6.13*

This app hasn't been updated in 2yrs and doesn't support Jupyter Lab. There are ways to connect to your jupyter server using the deprecated nbclassic, but even in that situation, the app works buggy and does not show the outputs.

### 1/5 — Jupyter notebook over ssh client

*2025-01-08*

I'm using jupyter notebook in my server. So i connected the notebook over ssh tunneling. But some kinds of errors are occured.
The first error is "404". I think this application doesn't support jupyter lab
And second error is "Failed to display notebook". I don't know why the notebook can't render.

Finally, It is a just an webview with ssh tunneling.

**Developer response:** Hey 👋 — sounds like you are connecting to a server running JupyterLab 4, which isn’t fully supported yet (but I’m working on it). In the meantime, you should be able to use Juno Connect without downgrading your environment by installing Jupyter’s `nbclassic` package, and updating the server's URL in Juno Connect to `{SERVER_ADDRESS}/nbclassic/tree`. This will work seamlessly alongside JupyterLab 4 / Notebook 7 installation using their backend components. Fell free to reach out to help@juno.sh if you stumble upon any issues. 😇

### 1/5 — not working

*2024-12-05, version 1.6.13*

bad i can’t use it

### 1/5 — Bug

*2024-11-19, version 1.6.13*

Always display error

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — love it

*2026-04-09, version 1.6.13*

So useful

### 5/5 — I like it

*2026-03-12, version 1.6.13*

Now getting the hang of it

### 5/5 — Elevates Jupyter and the iPad to their best selves

*2025-09-08, version 1.6.13*

This is one of my favorite apps on my iPad.

It takes Jupyter notebooks from being rather awkward on the iPad, to being a real joy to use. And it turns the iPad into a convenient tablet device for analysis which no other device can exactly replace. In other words, it combines these two products in a way that creates a unique and new version of each one, and it's great!

My only complaint about it, really, is my fear that it will go away, because it is not popular enough to support sustained development. I hope it sticks around.

My main feature suggestion is that it might be cool to lean into the iPad's capabilities, and add an integrated drawing control to the app, for inserting quick hand-drawn sketches into a notebook. This could also be a way to add equations for OCR in the notebook.

### 5/5 — Please add Jup Lab

*2025-07-18*

I hope you will update the app for correct work with Jupyter lab. Current solution with nbclassic is ok, but it seems to be bypass of the problem and I don’t understand how to combine nbclassic and ssh-entering.

Nevertheless, app itself is great for computations on the server.

### 5/5 — Great addition to Juno

*2024-10-22, version 1.6.13*

I use it all the time to connect to a centralized home server where I host my notebooks. Great for testing an idea on the move. Last update was 2 yrs ago but I am hopeful for a quality of life improvements update!

### 5/5 — Very useful

*2024-08-26, version 1.6.13*

Very useful especially when I get eye strain from computer screen

### 5/5 — Nice app

*2023-12-25, version 1.6.13*

I use it everyday. Just hope the author can add support for Notebook 7.x soon, and provide some more useful and sleek features like those in Juno.
If this app’s SSH can support jump host natively, it will be fantastic. For now I need to pair this app with Termius or Shellfish’s port forwarding to use the jump host.

### 5/5 — Worth its price

*2023-10-22, version 1.6.13*

I like the clean and comfortable design. It's very difficult to find such a nice design among dev apps for iPad

### 5/5 — Excellent Implementation of Jupyter

*2023-08-17, version 1.6.13*

The UI may not be what you’re used to but the implementation is very nice. It has a more “user friendly” way of doing package management. It makes it very easy to take your notebooks on the road.

### 5/5 — Why Can’t Edit .py Files orz

*2023-06-28*

The app is very close to perfection except that it does not support .py file editing. Could the developer add this feature to the next version? Thanks a lot!
