A week before the league was supposed to start they told me there was no spot for me and offered to refund the money I paid. But the refund never arrived. I followed up via the in-app chat and then also via email and they kept promising to pay the refund but never paid it. It has been 3 months and still no refund. Terrible ### 5/5 — Great app *2025-03-23, version 4.0.1* App works great, always find a team and do not worry about last minute no shows ### 1/5 — Troubling and Concerning App *2024-10-10* I used the app to sign up at a local sport comp and initially everything seemed fine and dandy. After using the app for a season, I noticed that it has been tracking my location to mark my attendance at games. (I forgot to mark myself as unavailable for a game and received a notification a few days later to say I would be charged a no-show fee of $15, as per terms and conditions. There is no other way they could possibly know I wasn’t there, other than by tracking my location.) I do not recall consenting to the app having access to my location. I could not find anything in the terms and conditions or privacy statement which mentions the app tracking my location. I don’t remember ticking the “allow Justplay to access my location” button either. Additionally, they have no telephone, and it is very difficult to get in contact with a real person through the app. Only weird chat bots. Very frustrating to use. We had difficultly getting female players... it was a shermozzle. Additionally, all fees are non-refundable and the app organisers can charge you at any time. A friend of mine was recently charged $200 for a season he did not sign up to. Possibly the developers need to check that their system hasn’t been hacked. Very weird app. Vaguely concerning. Would have liked to have been informed my location is being tracked. I hope my friend can get a refund. 🤞 I think next season I will sign up directly with the club. **Developer response:** Hi Josie — we want to clear this up directly, because it’s a big claim: the Justplay app does not track your location. Full stop. It never has, and it’s never even requested location permission from your phone. You can check this yourself in ten seconds: go to Settings → Justplay on your iPhone. You’ll see there’s no “Location” entry at all — iOS requires apps to ask for that permission, and it would show right there if we ever had. We haven’t. How attendance actually works: a player on each team submits an attendance report after every game. That’s it — a human marks who showed up. That’s how your no-show was recorded, not GPS. On the other points: sorry it was hard to reach a real person — the quickest route is info@justplay.com.au, which goes straight to the team. And if your friend was genuinely charged for a season he didn’t register for, please have him email us there. That shouldn’t happen, and if it did, we’ll investigate and make it right. ### 5/5 — Great App! *2024-09-03, version 3.0.26* Helped me play basketball again after not playing for 6 years. A service no one needed, which somehow manages to make social sport much more expensive and much less social, in an app that does nothing well! 10/10 guys. ### 5/5 — Great app and experience *2024-03-14, version 3.0.21* Had a friend recommend this to me when I moved as a way to meet people. Was nervous in the few weeks before season started and ahead of the first game but my teammates are lovely and have made a couple of new friends from it. App makes it easy to chat to support + check game details and RSVP too. ### 2/5 — Needs to be better organised *2023-04-22* Well since I was asked to write a review, the last 2 competitions I’ve joined up for were canceled back to back. This is despite it saying there were less than 3 places left when I signed up (which must be false because on both occasions I was told it was cancelled due to insufficient people…how can there be insufficient people of there were only 3 places left?…either the reason is a lie, or the places available is misleading, it must be one). Not to mention my $200 has been held this entire time…you can get it back, but they’ve been holding your $200 for the entire time. It is a good concept, but clearly needs some work. **Developer response:** Fair questions, and sorry you got two cancellations back to back — that's a rough run. To explain the "3 places left" thing, because it looks contradictory: that count showed remaining spots at your registration, but competitions can still fall over if other players or teams withdraw before the season locks in. Frustrating either way, and we've since improved how we set minimum numbers before opening registrations. On the $200 — money from a cancelled comp should be offered back immediately, not parked as credit.
