### 5/5 — Great option for a better price!

*2026-08-25, version 5.1.1*

I absolutely love this app! It has training to work you up to a 5k distance. It remembers your progress and prompts you to change your pace. Cost is affordable and a great deal for the training support you get!!

### 5/5 — Great lightweight app!

*2026-08-25, version 5.1.1*

Easy to use, doesn’t crash or do weird things, got me back from 2 injuries over the last 4 years. The free plan is the really the full app but I paid bc I use it so much (and the accents were fun to choose from)

### 5/5 — Great way to get into running

*2026-08-25, version 5.1.1*

I’ve really enjoyed this app so far! Its interface is simple and straightforward, which makes it very approachable in my opinion. There is no login or account set up. It’s fairly basic, with no way to track your mileage, but I think that is the appeal! You aren’t focused on hitting a certain mile time, you can just focus on running the set time per week. I also really appreciate how it splits up the run/walk times per week by making it gradually longer and longer. Very approachable and I highly recommend if you have struggled to get into running!

### 5/5 — Great way to gain independence as a new runner!

*2026-08-24, version 5.1.1*

Easy to use, easy to monitor, free app…worked for me at the age of 52 I am prepping for my first 5k

### 5/5 — Great motivation

*2026-08-24, version 5.1.1*

Keeps me motivated. Not intrusive while running. Encouraging!

### 5/5 — Great app for new runners

*2026-08-23, version 5.1.1*

Love the ease of use and sequencing of running/walking. I feel confident that this app will safely guide me in training to complete a 5k.

### 5/5 — Simple and effective!

*2026-08-23, version 5.1.1*

This app has just the right amount of features to get you into and keep you running. Love it

### 5/5 — Perfect for Beginners

*2026-08-23, version 5.1.1*

I’m a complete beginner with absolutely no running experience, and I’m already loving the Just Run app! I’m only in my second week, but the app makes it so easy to get started and stay motivated. The alternating running and walking intervals are perfect for beginners and make it feel manageable instead of overwhelming. I love that I can just follow the prompts and focus on keeping going without having to worry about timing anything myself. It’s made running feel much more approachable, and I’m actually excited to keep going and see how I improve. Highly recommend for anyone who is new to running!

### 5/5 — Excellent running app

*2026-08-22, version 5.1.1*

Amazing free running app does everything you need it to do, and it really does get you to running 30 minutes straight. You may need to repeat some weeks depending on your fitness level but you will get there.

### 5/5 — Great app no annoying ads or subscription pop ups

*2026-08-21, version 5.1.1*

Love this app compared to others. Easy to use and doesn’t have pop ups every 2 seconds

### 5/5 — Amazing!

*2026-08-21, version 5.1.1*

Just started (literally on week 1 day 2) and so far I’m obsessed. The app itself is SO easy!!! I started day 1 with the free version and it was great. There are voice prompts to tell you when to run/walk, so no need to stare at your phone the whole time. I ended up upgrading to the paid version (one time purchase) just to change the app color😂 and to support Gary! Overall 10/10, no notes

### 5/5 — What used to be C25K

*2026-08-19, version 5.1.1*

This app is simple and well made. I was coming back to running and discovered that my previous app was an expensive mess now days. Luckily someone recommended this one to me.

### 5/5 — Exactly what I needed

*2026-08-19, version 5.1.1*

Super simple, easy to use app. No unnecessary frills, just a focused plan that helps keep me on track. Love the halfway “turn around” feature so I don’t even need to think about it.

### 5/5 — Good affordable option!

*2026-08-19, version 5.1.1*

Loving using this app, the free version is just as good as some of the other expensive apps out there.

### 5/5 — Amazing running app!

*2026-08-18, version 5.1.1*

This is my first app review, I’m so impressed by how good Just Run is for beginner runners. I didn’t enjoy the “motivational” coaching with the Couch to 5k app I found it really cringe and distracting. This app is really simple, gives a structured plan each week and doesn’t pause your music for long when alerting on breaks and when you’re halfway. So glad I found this app as it’s helped me progress with my running journey!

### 5/5 — Amazing app

*2026-08-18, version 5.1.1*

Everything about this app is exactly what I needed love it! in the beginning It was a little difficult learning to control my breathing was a big part. I’m now on week four I can run for even longer than the session asks for. I don’t get any cramps. Which I didn’t even know it was possible lol. No ads or subscription is basically impossible this day and age so very much appreciated. Thank you!

### 5/5 — Best app I can find!

*2026-08-18, version 5.1.1*

So this app is truly free. It has a one time purchase so I think four bucks which is absolutely amazing. It has taken one minute off of my time every time that I run I am a certified law-enforcement officer, but I’m looking to move into private contracting to be a private operator, this app has absolutely helped me achieve the goals that I wanted to achieve. I went from being a couch potato to. Miles with an 1130 minute per mile.

### 5/5 — Perfect Running App

*2026-08-16, version 5.1.1*

A fantastic, simple, no nonsense running app. Works perfectly. Premium version unlocks useful features and new voice options.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Doesn’t accurately track time

*2026-06-10, version 4.1.1*

The app does not accurately track time. If it loses foreground access, because you switch to Spotify or another app, it stops advancing its clock reliably. This can cause the elapsed time to be wildly inaccurate.

### 1/5 — Hero to Zero. It Cannot Track Time Reliably

*2026-05-22, version 4.1.1*

I can’t finish a run longer than 20 minutes because it loses progress. This app used to be great. Now it is hot garbage.

### 2/5 — Not for people with POTS

*2026-07-11, version 5.0.2*

This is just my experience. I have POTS I attempted week one day one, I pushed through. I didn’t think I was pushing myself too hard. It is now three days later and I just had to leave the emergency room. I’m fine, but I wish that there was an app for people who have an even lower baseline than this as my baseline is extremely low and I’m trying really hard to be healthy and fit again but ever since my diagnosis in 2023 it’s been really hard.

### 2/5 — Won’t connect

*2026-04-25, version 4.0.1*

Won’t connect to Apple Watch. I paid for the premium. The app on the phone works and is good but I paid $5 for the premium to use it on my phone which it doesn’t do

### 2/5 — Something might be broke

*2026-01-24, version 3.4.0*

I was doing a run and I had gone through 2 cycles of running and walking, so 4 total and when I walking again I looked at the app and it was back like it started over again. Completely ruined my flow.

### 2/5 — Not zero to 5k

*2025-04-27, version 3.3.0*

App works well enough but, but I got this as alternative to couch to 5k. It starts off with way too much running. Week 1 Day 1 is like Week 2 Day 3 on a normal c25k program.

### 2/5 — Not beginner friendly

*2024-11-12, version 3.1.0*

I appreciate a free running app, it seems to be hard to find these days… but the jump from running 1-1.5 minutes to 3 to 5 to 20 in a short amount of time is extremely discouraging.

### 4/5 — Great app!

*2026-09-05, version 5.1.2*

Completely free and great easy to use UI. Finished the program!

### 4/5 — Good

*2026-08-24, version 5.1.1*

Has helped me do so much more with this app

### 4/5 — The Only Free Couch to 5K App

*2026-07-15, version 5.0.2*

We all need to appreciate Gary!! Every other couch to 5k app I tried was subscription based and didn’t let you go past a certain point without paying. This app is for the people and FREE! I paid the one time fee of $3.99 to support the developers. I think this is such an amazing app. Thanks Gary & team!

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Great Free App!

*2026-09-08, version 5.1.2*

I found and downloaded this app after wanting to get back into running and realizing couch to 5k is no longer free. I was so disappointed one of my favorite apps was now forcing you to pay. I downloaded this app on a whim and it is GREAT! Probably cleaner and more straightforward than couch to 5k and love that it’s free! Thanks for creating!

### 5/5 — This is what goal-based fitness apps should be

*2026-09-03, version 5.1.1*

I’m back to running 5K from a one year hiatus. I wanted a streamlined app that was easy to use and straightforward for intervals. This app is wonderful, and I love that you can progress further to the 10K. Just enough in it to personalize it, but no ads and no glitches. Love it.

### 5/5 — Great to ease into running

*2026-09-02, version 5.1.2*

I’m just about done with Week 5 but so far this app has been fantastic. It’s well structured and helps to build your endurance and distance gradually without overdoing it. I only wish I had started running sooner but better late than never!

I highly recommend this app and you will see results if you dedicate the time and effort into following the program!

### 5/5 — Easy but hard

*2026-08-31, version 5.1.1*

This plan is very easy to follow along and no ads to boot. Every thing ran smoothly and using it in the Apple Watch is a breeze. As a person who has not ran in almost 40 years, I found this plan, using the app, easy to learn but the runs are always very hard. But in a good way. I’m encouraged to go further.

### 5/5 — Made me like running

*2026-08-31, version 5.1.2*

On week 6 of this app and I am very happy with it. Started out barely being able to run for 2 mins at a time and now I can do 20 fairly easily. Had to restart week 4 because it kicked my butt, but otherwise all the weeks have been great. I look forward to my runs now and when I finish the 5k I plan to do the 10k mode.

### 5/5 — Love it!

*2026-08-29, version 5.1.1*

Integrates nicely so the audio cues come through whatever music app I’m listening to. I love the simple and straightforward interface.

### 5/5 — Exactly what I needed to start running

*2026-08-28, version 5.1.2*

So many couch to 5K apps are paid now, which is so annoying if you’re looking to start a free form of exercise. This app was perfect - it’s free, walked me through the entire program, and was super simple and easy to use. I finished all 9 weeks and really appreciate that it exists!

### 5/5 — THE running app

*2026-08-28, version 5.1.2*

One of the few app purchases I’ll ever make, and it was mostly because I so appreciate what this developer did. The easiest best running app I’ve ever used, with none of the junk. I’ve used it for years now. Upgrade to premium and support this one!

### 5/5 — Running is Free! App is Perfect for Beginners

*2026-08-26, version 5.1.1*

I'm a complete beginner at running, and I'm finding this app to be perfect for what I need to get started. I love the simple and straightforward interface with no distracting ads or subscriptions that other runnings apps are trying to sell. Never in my life did I think I'd ever enjoy running, but now I look forward to making progress each week. Thank you for making this app!

### 5/5 — Exactly what a needed

*2026-08-26, version 5.1.1*

Great app for a great price (free!) The core features are not locked behind a paywall, only some nice extras that you may want. The premium is also a one-time payment, which is fantastic. Simple but effective for what its made for. I would highly recommend! Thank you.
