### 5/5 — It gets better

*2017-05-21, version 1.1*

I won't mince words: this game's difficulty stinks at the beginning. But as you start to grasp more and more, the purity of the challenge and experience make it well worth it. Just leave it on your phone, and try it when you notice the icon. You can do it.

**Developer response:** Thanks for the nice review. You describe the game well. :-)

### 5/5 — Exceptionally hard

*2017-05-15, version 1.1*

Hard to the point of frustration. I feel horribly frustrated that I keep crashing on the first jump. I've tried more times than I can count on both iPhone and iPad.

Jeff, I'm very grateful for your kind reply and tips. That alone is worth 5 stars. I'm gonna keep trying based on your tips and give it another shot. :-) Have a great day.

**Developer response:** Hey Skrimfid.

Sorry about the frustration. Just Ski has a tough learning curve, I know.
The key thing to grasp is controlling the rotation of the skier. Slide up at launch to get some spin, then once in the air gently slide your thumb upward to extend and spin slower and downward to crouch and spin faster. With practice you should start to get a feel for controlling the spin and sticking the landing.
The big difference with Just Ski over other skiing games are the controls are much more true to real life physics. Once in the air, you can only increase/decrease spin by modifying the skiers body. There are no magic, outside torques to adjust spin. Makes the game more difficult to learn, but also more satisfying one you get the hang of it.

### 5/5 — One more play

*2017-05-11, version 1.1*

This game is like a distilled version of Krashlander. Frustrating at times, but crashing is always your fault so you want to give it another go and improve.

### 5/5 — Physics perfection

*2017-05-11, version 1.1*

This game is quite hard at first but stick with it and it becomes something special. The simple design and controls are a great fit for mobile. I basically haven't put it down since I got it 😎.

A few tips:
Crouch down and then stand up right before a jump to do back flips.

Stand tall and crouch before a jump for front flips.

The color of the sun is the color representing how far you've made it in the game.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Not worthy of time

*2017-10-05, version 1.5*

Its an absolute waste, may be worst of its kind. Neither good with graphics nor with usability.

**Developer response:** Ouch! :-) I was going for a minimalist style and the game uses more realistic physics than others so it's takes time to get the hang of. Sorry you didn't like it, but thanks for giving it a go. -Jeff

### 2/5 — Frustrating

*2017-06-20, version 1.3*

This game looks cool - I like the simple visuals and physics - but is super difficult to play. If I had no life and could spent hours playing maybe I could get it down . But, no.

### 2/5 — Stupid

*2017-05-14, version 1.1*

It is way too hard - jumps require spins with perfect landings. You have little control over how often you spin - five hills is my max. Very, very hard for those of us who aren't developers or 12 year old boys...This is not worth the $$$

**Developer response:** Hey BiffBifkin,

Edit. I made a how to play vid for Just Ski. Possibly it will help: ( bit.ly/howtoplayjustski )

Sorry you don't feel Just Ski was worth the $$$$.

It's not easy to learn, I admit, but you can control the skier's spin in the air. Just like real life, when you crouch you spin faster and when you extend you spin slower. Once you get a feel for this, you can get a handle on you spin and learn to stick the landing.
Try to slide your thumb smoothly up or down to control the spin in air. It takes practice, but it is something you can get good at with a little time.

### 4/5 — Fun

*2017-10-14, version 1.5*

I enjoy this. How about check points though so when we finally get going, we don’t have to start from the beginning every single time?

Ok, I’ve continued playing to see if it will be beneficial. I’m done until the checkpoint option is added. For right now, all it does is waste my battery to keep playing the same part over and over again. I can respect that some people LOVE the monotony, but I don’t. I lose interest when I play the same thing over and over again hoping to get past it. It’s actually just like the definition of insanity. Maybe you could put the OPTION in your game. Those who don’t want checkpoints can just turn the option OFF. So, I’m done until something changes to make it less monotonous.

### 4/5 — Game mechanics need improvement

*2017-10-05, version 1.5*

Overall, this is an incredible game for what it is. There are a few game mechanics that stand in the way of enjoying it too it's fullest however. The guys skis are too long which means tipping over on flat ground and very narrow landing surface. Second, it would be good to see you lead the flexibility of skis in the real world to give slightly more leeway in terms of being able to land and not bounce and flip over even if landed correctly.

**Developer response:** Hey Art0091. Thanks for the feedback. I tried shorter ski's, but that tended to be more difficult. I like the idea of bending skis, will keep it in mind for future games. -Jeff

### 4/5 — Please help us non-skiers

*2017-10-04, version 1.5*

This is a well put together game. It may be tough to master. i can accept that, but can you give some hints for those of us who are not familiar with the mechanics involved in skiing? I can start, jump and/or flip Tiny Wings style, but I have no clue as to how to right myself after the jump. I don’t even understand what’s spinning! Thanks.

**Developer response:** First, here is short video I put together that shows the basics: http://bit.ly/HowToPlayJustSki
The biggest thing to remember with Just Ski is that it's physics based so when you are in the air the only way to control your spin is by crouching to spin faster and extending to spin slower. This is similar to how thing work in real life. It seems almost impossible at first, but it's something you can learn and get a feel for. Keep at it and trust me you will get better.
Thanks for playing...

### 4/5 — Great game, super challenging yet fun!

*2017-05-24, version 1.1*

I love this game.. it's difficult and fun all at the same time. The only thing I wish the developer would add is a distance tracker and a longest distance meter. The color circle is a great touch but I would like to know how far my best distance is and strive to beat it and be able
To share with friends who have downloaded the game.

Thanks for making a great game.

**Developer response:** Hey crzysnobrder,
Thanks for the great feedback. I was trying to keep things very minimal which is why I didn't show a number for distance. I'll keep it in mind but no promises. :-)

### 4/5 — Great game!

*2017-05-23, version 1.1*

This game is super fun! I've had it for about a week and love playing it! I loved the previous crash lander game but there are a few things I hope you can add to this upcoming update! I really enjoyed the way you could articulate the previous characters form to make him flip differently, also when you fall sometimes you can get back up, could there be a feature that you can re-right yourself after you fall so you can keep going? Love the game
Thanks,
Max demsky

**Developer response:** Hey max,
For Just Ski I'm trying to keep things minimal so I probably won't be adding a lot of new mechanics. I'll save those ideas for another game. :-) Thanks for playing my games!

### 4/5 — Physics are fun. Restarting can be frustrating.

*2017-05-12, version 1.1*

I played Krashlander so I figured this would be similar, which it is. The physics are fun and take some time to master. My only complaint is that it gets boring since you always have to restart at the beginning. I'm sick of the first few jumps, and have trouble progressing. I would love to see some fresh new terrain, but it's tough to master a tricky section that's a minute into the run. I find myself just playing the first minute or so over and over.

It would be nice if you could just get up and start from where you are, as long as it's on a down slope.

**Developer response:** @JoeW723 Thanks for the feedback. I'm currently working on the first update for Just Ski. I think the update should address your major complaint. I'm adding a simple checkpoint system that will keep you from having to restart at the beginning every time.
There is will still be a small incentive to make the entire run in one go, but it won't be required.
The idea with this update is to allow people to build there skill with a little less monotony.

Thanks for playing!

### 5/5 — Still Great

*2024-04-26*

Been playing this since launch, and is still a great minimalist game to mess around with all these years later. Hope to see a sequel or more levels one day!

### 5/5 — Bring diver to iOS!!

*2021-07-30, version 1.6*

I’m not even sure if the diver game is still up on your site, will probably check tomorrow haha. Came across this game and the mechanics are exactly like diver. Would loveeeeee to have that game on my phone, and would definitely pay for it as well! I remember I made a walkthrough video of the game

### 5/5 — Simple yet addictive

*2020-08-01, version 1.6*

It’s challenging at first but as soon as you get the hang of it, super addictive. Got it yesterday and such remarkable app. One of my favorite developers, love his style. It’s just a shame his games never blew up. I really hope the developer makes another game or adds the next world to Krashlander(I’d recommend getting that game first).
Also Jeff, please add Diver to the new OS, if you can. Hope you haven’t given up on designing!

### 5/5 — Update PLEEEEEEEEEEEEEAASE!!!

*2018-11-08, version 1.6*

this is a great game.i love it, but I want more! Like 17 new levels!please please please!

### 5/5 — Beautiful simple

*2018-04-26, version 1.6*

Awesome game. Needs more tracks. Love not having any menus. Gets right into the action.

### 5/5 — Very enjoyable

*2018-01-25, version 1.6*

Overall, it’s a fun game. I wish there was a way to extend the tutorial a bit and give yourself control over the speed of the game. Also multiplayer support would be awesome. Maybe some split screen action because it gets boring playing by yourself... but I haven’t been playing that long yet. But it’s worth the $2

Also... the checkpoint system would be great. It’s cool to see that you actually care about your feedback and you’re willing to make the game better.. but I’m sick of the same terrain.

### 5/5 — frustratingly great

*2017-10-09, version 1.5*

love this game, been playing it for a few days and i can make it to the green zone lol. super rewarding when you get it down. you should make the music on a loop though, and not play it from the beginning each time you crash. when i am sucking and crashing a ton i turn the music off cause the first 30 seconds of the song get old haha. also does ‘pumping’ make me go faster? i can’t tell haha

### 5/5 — great game, but...

*2017-10-04, version 1.5*

Can you add points and/or challenges to entice players to play more and challenge them. Check out Rider for ideas as those challenges can be similarly added to this fascinating game.
Thanks

**Developer response:** Thanks for the playing and thanks for the suggestion. I'll keep the idea in mind if/when I do any updates. -Jeff

### 5/5 — Nice

*2017-07-07, version 1.5*

A nice fun game :3. I play this when I'm bored and really enjoy it, I hope you keep updating. 👍🏻I think this game has a great future

### 5/5 — The best iPhone game (after you get decent)

*2017-05-30, version 1.3*

This is probably the best iPhone game I've ever played. At first it is very very difficult and I almost deleted it I was so frustrated. But after a day or two I get used to it. Once you are able to control the physics correctly it is the perfect iphone game, very simple controls and the graphics are very minimal making for the perfect soothing game. Nothing too fancy but very visually and functionally satisfying.

**Developer response:** Thanks for the nice feedback and review. Glad you like it!
