The design is clean and it feels lightweight but powerful. One feature I’d love to see on the Mac app is the option to have a timer appear directly in the menu bar. That would make it much easier to glance at the remaining time without needing to keep the main window open, and it would fit perfectly with how I (and I imagine many others) use timers during work sessions. Thanks for building such a great app — it’s already a big help for me, and adding menu bar support on Mac would make it even better. ### 3/5 — Too many problems *2024-05-20* The app has the potential to solve multiple problems including the lack of iCloud syncing in the native timer app. The problem is that the app in its current state is underdeveloped. There are too many problems. For one thing the timer doesn’t sound if your device is on silent mode. This alone is a deal breaker for me. The settings are not straight forward and there’s a bit of a learning curve. There’s no way to set a default sound I’m finding myself changing the alarm sound each time I set a new timer. The iCloud sync feature did not reliably work for me in the couple of trials I had. I paid for tier 2 in the spirit of supporting the developer as they seem to be active and working on the app. I’m sure it will one day get there! ### 2/5 — Looks good, several breaking issues *2024-03-30* I wanted a timer app that helps me keep track of small workout intervals, and this looked great. It feels very modern-iOS as you swipe around it, but in real usage it seems extremely buggy: * After upgrading to the interval functionality, I had it restore stock timers. Then when I tried deleting the ones I don’t need, it started flipping out: appearing to delete timers I wanted to keep, then showing them again after I deleted the next one. Very confusing. After a quit and restart, the stock timers were all back. * tried defining an interval timer and had to go back to messages to check some details; the interval sheet I’d started to fill out was gone and all my progress was lost. That was all before I’d even seen a timer in action. I’m happy for everyone that says they like and use this app, but at breakage this basic a level, i can’t see myself trusting it enough to sink more time into using it. **Developer response:** Hey I’m really sorry to hear you had such a bad experience. It actually just went off even though I haven't used the app in at least two days and the complications won't show correctly, amongst other things. Thanks! ### 4/5 — Does everything I need very well *2023-11-02, version 3.1* I’ve tried lots of timer apps and this one hits the sweet spot. Plenty of configuration options but not too many and all well thought out and easy to use. There seems to be an issue with the Watch app at the minute but I assume that’s down to the recent WatchOS update and hope that the developer will fix it soon. It would also be nice to have an option to quickly create and start a one-off, self-destructing timer and it would also be good if tapping a button on a Live Activity for a running timer didn’t launch the app 🙂 ### 4/5 — Update: App is a little glitchy but functional *2023-06-04* Update: I imported V2 timers as mentioned on the app description page, which did restore my old timers. The app behavior isn’t always consistent (for example, I just deleted a couple of timers, which then almost immediately un-deleted themselves upon app re-launch). I have had difficulty resetting timers in the past (like via my Apple Watch). This app doesn’t collect personal info like other multitimer apps in the market, so it’s worth dealing with. **Developer response:** Hey thanks for the update, could you please reach out to support@justtimers.app so I can help you with the other issues? I haven’t had any other reports on that, so I can’t fix it without more details ### 2/5 — UPDATE Sadly broken… again *2023-05-26, version 3.0* UPDATE FOR VERSION 3 Once again, the app had a major update without warning. And once again, the major update broke the app. As soon as the new update was installed, I received 70-plus (!) notifications that timers had run. Thankfully, I have notifications set to summarise per app, so I didn’t get 70+ separate ones. But then I opened the app and found my saved timers had all been activated, and all been changed and their duration was now about 3,400 minutes. And then when I ran a timer, timers still went off if I stopped them early. This is the second major update, that has left me feeling like I’ve paid to be a beta tester. V1 of this app became invaluable to me. Now I can’t use it. Again. And even if it the current load of bugs are fixed, I can no longer trust the dev will not break the app in the future. PREVIOUS REVIEW Version 1 of this app was reliable and easy to use. It quickly became indispensable to managing my severe ADHD because it allowed users to stop timers via Siri and Shortcuts and would send out notifications in the background. The few similar interval timer apps that offer Shortcuts control only allow timers to be started. But version 2 is bug-ridden. Problems have included my library of stored timers being deleted (breaking a couple dozen Shortcuts and automations I used to manage my ADHD); a dozen copies of the same timer being created that crash-quit the app when you try and delete them; the Shortcuts command running timers that haven’t been selected; and the latest being timers going off five minutes early and showing the wrong notification message. v2 shouldn’t have been released in this state - users should not pay for an app only to end up being beta testers - but it’s still the only interval timer app that fits my needs. My only options now are waiting to see if v3 (if it’s ever released) will be as reliable and v1 was, hope another dev includes “stop” in their interval timer’s Shortcuts options, or learn how to code and write my own interval timer app. ### 2/5 — Lot of bugs *2023-05-20, version 2.0.4* Concept is great, but I’ve run into so many bugs in the first few hours of using that it’s essentially un-usable. Negative timers, alerts not going off, timers with intervals spontaneously resetting to the beginning, etc. I do need a timer app with shortcuts integration so I hope this one improves. ### 3/5 — Needs a lot of work *2023-04-12, version 2.0.4* Concept is great. End times, intervals, etc. but very buggy, though. Bought the upgrade hoping to use more features but there’s just too much interference with bugs. Wishing the developer luck with improving the reliability, as the features (should they work) are excellent. ### 2/5 — How about this? *2023-02-23, version 2.0.4* Bring back OG Just Timers. ### 3/5 — Hope it improves but it’s half baked and unusable now *2023-01-16* As said by other reviewers, there is a great app to be found here but it’s too half baked right now. Because of sound alarm bugs, syncing issues, and unpolished functionality such as x-callback integration and rest API, the app is unusable now and had to find a workaround for my needs elsewhere. It’s a shame because it could be really great… I’m not very optimistic right now because I’ve tried the TestFlight demos and they had a lot more bugs, but hey maybe this changes! Please let me know if you hit any issues at support@justtimers.app ### 2/5 — Still in Alpha *2022-11-29, version 2.0.4* The idea of the app is good, which is why I’m giving it 2 stars. I wish it works as advertised, but the execution is off the mark. I regret paying for the unlocked features. Here are some of the bugs I’ve encountered: - notifications of a completed timer on the Apple Watch (on timers synced via iCloud) are very inconsistent. It works about 20% of the time - timer display gets stuck so it doesn’t display the time remaining - widget display has the same issue - intervals get stuck and skipping to the next interval is very inconsistent. Almost of the time it would just get stuck Annoyances - you need to click save on every change. Otherwise, you’d lose your settings. ### 4/5 — Almost perfect *2022-10-25* I really like the features of this app. It just needs one more critical feature for me to switch from what I’m using currently and purchase this app. I’d really like to see delayed start added. That is at a certain date/time start this timer. If the time is already past then run from date/time as if I had hit start then. From what I do I’m never able to hit start right when I want and I would use this a bunch. Thanks for a great app as it is. Keep up the great work. ### 3/5 — Good app that needed more time in the oven *2022-10-17, version 2.0.4* There’s a fantastic app to be found here, but it’s buried under a mountain of bugs that make day-to-day use uncomfortable. Things like: - Choosing a sound for your timer causes that sound to keep playing indefinitely - Timer resets even if you just want to do something small like modify what sound it makes when it completes - No way to set default timer settings, so I have to set the timer’s chime every single time. Makes one-off throwaway timers harder to use. - It’s hard to describe, but there’s a general clunkiness to usage The developer is clearly still active and tinkering on it, so I have hope that it’ll improve. I’m looking forward to the v3 update and hope to re-review once it comes out. ### 3/5 — What Happened?!? *2022-10-14, version 2.0.4* This app used to be my go-to timer as a chef, especially because I could start a timer on my phone and follow it and get notifications on my watch. Now I have to manually sync and save timers to iCloud or a specific group to do that. What happened to starting a timer and just having it automatically work on the phone and the watch?!? If the dev could fix this, I’d gladly re-rate at five atars. ### 3/5 — Seems buggy *2022-10-05, version 2.0.4* I would love what this app promises, but I keep hitting bugs with very basic interaction. Somehow I get in a state where a timer I just started will show negative time. Buttons either do nothing or don’t do what they represent (like the rewind button being a pause button). Would happily pay for premium but the basics need to work first. ### 3/5 — Not So Simple Anymore *2022-08-05, version 2.0.4* Just Timers used to be a simple and great app. It used to resolve the need of setting multiple timers for dishwasher, coffee machine, etc. It used to be frictionless and a first grade app. Unfortunately, that is not the case anymore. The new version tries to be a catch-all type timer app which ruins the app for me. P.S.: I bought both tiers of the in-app purchases to support the developer. However, the app is not likely to be used frequently anymore. ## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated) ### 1/5 — Timer continues and continues to open shortcuts *2025-01-04* The repeat function is off and yet after the timer goes off the first time and opens a shortcut, it will run the same short cut repeatedly. The repeat function is off. If you can reach out to support@justtimers.app I can try to get you squared away ### 1/5 — Notifications just won’t stop *2024-10-05* Paid for Tier 2. After a timer completed, the notifications would just not stop. They kept coming and coming, no matter what I did. I acknowledged the notification. Stopped the timer. Ultimately I just had to delete the app to get it to stop. ### 1/5 — Paid for both in-app versions *2023-02-08* After paying for the different tiers this app offers, I can safely say it has progressively gotten worse over time since first using this app until now February 8th 2023. The updates I’ve seen have created more bugs than fixes. Whenever I try to add the vibrating function for my watch, it doesn’t work. I have to use critical alerts. Sometimes when I try to edit a timer, it’ll randomly add minutes to the timer even when I’m adjusting the Seconds. Moreover, adding repeating alerts for any timer does not work, I’ve tried adding 1-10 second secondary alerts and they don’t work the first time when creating a timer. The timers will eventually work after consistently running the same newly created timers a few times, but this ruins any attempt to create multiple timers when cooking or doing multiple things at the same time while trying to manage all of them as you won’t get alerts for these newer timers that have just been created. I had high hopes for this app when I first started using it when it had less functions but allowed for multiple timers to be made. Things have gotten worse and now I understand why it has such poor reviews and rating. Please please update this app and I will add a better review and I’m almost positive this will make money if it can be fixed. **Developer response:** Hey just a heads up, v3 is out now if you haven’t tried it. Why not when it stops, DO NOT DOWNLOAD! ### 1/5 — Doesn’t alert on Apple Watch *2021-09-25, version 1.4.8* I wanted this app to work for me. I’ve been looking for a timer app forever and can’t find one that just works. If I set a timer on the watch and then navigate to the watch face, the alarm doesn’t work. Then when I open the app it starts vibrating! If only it would vibrate no matter what. Doesn’t make sense that the alarm only goes off if you’re in the timer app itself. ### 1/5 — No alert then timers finish! *2021-09-19, version 1.4.8* This app is EXACTLY what I’m looking for - simple, easy to use, and capable of allowing me to set up several preset timers. HOWEVER - I can’t get any tones, alerts sounds, ringers, ANYTHING to sound when a timer finishes. If that were solved this would rate a 7/5 star rating for me! ### 1/5 — How can such a simple design go wrong? *2021-05-10* I loved the idea of this timer, because of the endless customizable timers. However the most important part of the timer the “alerts!” Are severely flawed. In particular to the Applewatch which is where I exclusively use it. If the watch face shuts off- you don’t get an alert. Nothing If you open up the app in the watch- it will only alert you then- After the fact. The app can’t seem to bypass device audio, off-watchface, or even alert options like the native app does. When the watch app happens to be open and the timer goes off, it gives a weak buzz with no option to customize. There’s also a weird bug on the watch app where it won’t let you scroll down to “add” a new custom timer. Which forces you to use the phone app to organize timers. useless. I’m heading back to the native app even though it doesn’t have as many presets. I didn’t mind paying, as long as it wasn’t a subscription. I quickly realised that the app was missing a history, most of the ones I was considering had a history feature, but also inappropriately heavy subscription fees. I wrote Aaron and asked if he was going to add a history feature. He said he would if there was demand, AND THEN WENT AHEAD AND WROTE SCRIPTS/SHORTCUTS FOR ME THAT GAVE ME A HISTORY!!!! Only the last one but believe me that is all I needed. This guy is a genius. The simple fact that he left this app open to so much customisation and possibility just blew me away. Its free version is excellent and has zero ads 2. Upgrading is cheap ($5 one-time purchase), and in return you get interval timers and URL Call backs 3. The best shortcut integration out of any timer app. You can start, stop, restart, create, etc Best part, developer is still updating and is active. I found this app, because I saw the dev respond to someone’s reddit post about wanting a timer that does xyz. I was out of line. So, after beta testing and trying both of your official releases of 2.x and 3.x, I found that it wasn’t remotely similar to the original release, which I had just paid for at the time, years ago. After the 2.0 release came out, I was bothered that it wasn’t anything like what I had just paid for. Never mind the bugs. I have realized that this just isn’t the right app for me anymore, and I took my issue out on you, the developer, who is clearly trying their best. With your latest release, I did not give it a fair chance and rated it unfairly. I do believe this is the right app for A LOT of people. That said, I have a suggestion that I think will be helpful for everyone, both old and new users alike. Premade templates of all of the different types of timers the app offers. The screenshot of the multicolored timers in the App Store, looked very appealing. However, between the learning curve and the time it takes to create these from scratch, the task can seem overwhelming. At the very least, clear explanations of how each setting should behave, tips to generate the different timers, and contradictions we may run into would be HUGE. Especially with the symbol-only settings. It’s possible that what many perceive as bugs are from an incorrect expectation of how each setting is to act. **Developer response:** Hey thanks for the feedback!
