Gotta start paying better attention ### 5/5 — One of the Best!!! *2018-01-30, version 1.0.0* I just wanna say I’ve look for a good game one the App Store and didn’t have the best luck until I ran into this one, at first I thought it’d just be another let down but it turn out to be my favorite game on IOS, just the little Easter eggs you find on here (my favorite is the Rick and Morty Easter egg which made the app ten time better for me when I found it. 😊) to the slow incline to an unstoppable god in the game. I pre-ordered it expecting an alright game that I would only play when I was bored. Now, I’m realizing that I’m playing this game even when I have plenty to do. It’s great and if you love action games, this is definitely one for you. P.S. I do hope that more types of JYDGEs are added or even a way to customize their looks. Customizable load outs, fun missions, and multiple objectives. Set in a crime-filled dystopian future, Jydge is a pared down Judge Dredd, a justice dispensing judge, jury, and executioner. Heavily influenced by games like Syndicate, and those that came after it, Jydge is a terrific iOS title that is well worth the money. ### 4/5 — FANTASTIC game *2018-01-25, version 1.0.0* Each level is like a puzzle in itself. I just want to play the stages... let me play whatever stage I want. When I tapped to view the app, it said that it was pre-ordered. I’ve been checking daily to see if it’d been fixed and I checked today, but it still hasn’t been fixed. I’ll write a better review when I can actually play the game. ### 2/5 — Pretty boring *2018-01-23, version 1.0.0* Game is OK, but gets boring really fast. After the 2nd Act you must push yourself to complete yet another map or running an old one on hardcore difficulty, with stronger but still dumb enemies. Progress in opening upgrade slots is linear, gameplay repetitive and tiny maps are boring. Doesn’t come even close to Space Marshalls 1/2 which I really hoped for when preordered this. Final nail in the coffin - ‘Y’- based grammar - lYser, jYdge, shotgYn gets irrYtatYng rYlly fYst. I saYd Yt. ### 2/5 — Flaws bog down a potentially great game *2018-01-22, version 1.0.0* The good: It’s got a lot of potential to be fun. The bad: The aiming is terrible for running and gunning, this is advertised as a roguelike when it isn’t, the lighting is FAR too dim, the view makes determining which walls are destructible a trial and error exercise, and levels are locked until you get ALL of the medals for an area. It’s a good idea, poorly executed. However, for a $5 title (potentially 10 since I bought on the launch sale), I’m disappointed. I’m playing on an IPhone X, and even on that, it feels sluggish. Combat is fast and furious. Things explode walls can break. Glass can shatter. All the perks are different which adds a layer of depth to the game. A lot of different enemies to kill. Regardless of the Robocop/Judge Dredd cyberpunk aesthetics and the obvious homage to Hotline Miami, without this instant feedback of hair-trigger perfection JYDGE would fail. Thankfully, this is one of the best realisations of this style of shoot-em-up on mobile. Level design is compact, but offers a wide spread of solutions to each of your mission objectives. Not only that, but each dovetails perfectly into the chosen loadout for your mechanised patrolman. Go for a sneaking/system hacking selection of equipment, and you can complete each level with minimal enemy engagement. Go loud and proud, sinking cash into offence and endurance and every level turns into a gore-soaked arena. There's even a range of drones and henchmen that you can take into a level with you, leaving them to do your dirty work while you dive in and out of cover. With four difficulty levels to each mission, you’ll find yourself switching between the three saved loadouts to eek out another completed objective. Doing so acts as the in-game currency that then unlocks the next level in the campaign. What this ultimately means is that you have to perfect each approach and learn how to play the 18 missions in multiple ways pushing replayability to its maximum potential. Jydge may feel like a short session game, and the snacky, ‘finished in under a minute’ time trials definitely underline this.
