Latest update drains battery

The latest “pretty” update now causes the battery to drain on my iPhone 12 at an alarming rate. I can no longer leave the app running in the background which defeats the purpose of the app! Checking battery stats shows that the
latest version is using 65% of my total battery usage in an 8 hour period.
