## What is Kaata?

Kaata is a simple digital kaata (ledger) for shopkeepers — and anyone who keeps track of money between people they trust.

Write down who owes you and what you owe, and Kaata keeps a running balance for every person. You always know where you stand, without flipping through a paper notebook.

YOUR DATA, ON YOUR PHONE
Your ledger is stored on your device. Sign in (optional) to back it up to the cloud and restore it on a new phone if you ever lose this one. You can delete your account and its data at any time from Settings.

Kaata is a record-keeping tool. It is not a bank, a lender, or a payment service — it doesn't move money, lend money, or charge interest. It simply helps you remember who owes what.

### 1.0.9 — 2026-08-09

- Contacts you add in Kaata now save properly on iPhone, under the person's name instead of a blank company card.
- Renaming someone updates their contact card too, and changing a number no longer leaves a duplicate behind.
- Open accounts now sit above settled ones on the home list, so what needs attention stays on top.
- Dari text joins correctly everywhere — dialogs, toasts, section headings and your shop name.
- A design pass across the whole app: easier taps, consistent buttons and spacing, and no more blank loading screens with no way back.
- App health is fully in Dari, and no longer shows Android-only sections on iPhone.
- Kaata asks for fewer permissions — the ones it never used are gone.

- Removed a contact by mistake? Restore them - with every entry - from your kaata's settings.
- Export now saves straight to your phone, not just to a share sheet.
- Each kaata shows its currency when you switch between kaatas, so a second book for dollars is easy to tell apart.

- Better Dari wording throughout, and phone numbers are recognised more reliably however you type them.

- Your settled history now shows a dated ruled-off line for each settlement - like the pages of a paper khata.
- Entries under a settled line are protected; fix an old mistake with a correcting entry instead.
- Settle up: when an account reaches zero, draw a line under it. History is kept; the next entry starts a fresh page.
- Members in a shared kaata now show their real names.

- Sign in with Google or Apple - your ledger restores on any device with the same account.
- Fixed: a kaata you just joined could disappear from your list until the next sync.
- Remove shared ledger links you have sent, right from the person's edit screen. Links now expire automatically after 30 days.
- Faster, smoother sign-in screen.
