## What is Kade?

Kade-AI is a companion you talk to — and it's built to be heard.

Most apps add accessibility at the end. Kade-AI was built the other way around: for people who navigate by ear and by voice, first. If you use VoiceOver, larger text, or you'd simply rather talk than tap, this app is made for you.

TALK, DON'T TYPE. Speak to your companions and hear them answer in a real, natural voice. Whole conversations without ever looking at the screen.

MADE FOR VOICEOVER. Screens, buttons, messages, and history are labeled and ordered so your screen reader reads them the way you'd expect — no dead ends, no guessing.

YOUR SETTINGS, HONORED. Larger Text, Reduce Motion, and Increase Contrast from iOS carry through the app. Turn them up as far as you need.

VOICES WITH CHARACTER. A cast of distinct companions, each with their own voice and personality, so it feels like talking to someone — not a menu.

RELIABLE AUDIO. A native audio system keeps your microphone and the companion's voice from stepping on each other, and audio keeps playing when your screen is locked.

PRIVATE BY DESIGN. You sign in, your conversations are yours, and nothing is sold. See our privacy policy for exactly what's handled and why.

Kade-AI is for anyone who wants a warmer, faster, more human way to use AI — and especially for the blind and low-vision community, who deserve an app that was designed with them in mind from the very first line.

## Version history (last 5 releases)

### 2.2.3 — 2026-10-03

Sound Booth: HQ speech keeps the voice description in its own box, and the writer writes for the voice you chose.
Seed Audio: voice clips longer than 30 seconds are shortened to fit instead of failing, and error messages are plain sentences.
Change password works from your account settings. It asks for your current password.
Library: request buttons work with Voice Control, and upload progress never says 100 percent too early.
More reliability and accessibility fixes.

### 2.2.2 — 2026-10-01

Added Take Photo to chat, with photo review before sending.
Improved attachment upload cancellation, retry, file validation, and accessible error feedback.
Additional reliability improvements.

### 2.2.1 — 2026-09-30

Family history: authorized families can read saved sources, citations and accessible image descriptions, switch between original photographs and prepared restored copies, and see research cautions alongside the records. Separate family archives keep their own people and access.

Library: rapid skips add up without losing your place, other audio pauses your book, and Delete, Withdraw and Return report what actually happened.

Clubhouse: watch or listen to a shared Library recording together, with controls for the host and clear playback status on each phone.

World: spoken replies queue in order, the Washhouse picture follows its shared repair state, and sounds recover after locking the phone while respecting phone calls and headphones.

Chat: Retry checks whether your message arrived and avoids sending the same request twice. Link fields explain unsupported copied links and offer system Paste buttons.

### 2.2.0 — 2026-09-26

Kade-AI now has its own painted pictures, all from one house on a lake in the hills: the house on the hill when you sign in (it changes with the seasons), the Library shelves and Springfield's local shelves, tapes with their titles written on the label, the Clubhouse, the Parlor, Help, Settings, the described video screen and each main character's room. With VoiceOver, a screen's picture is described after everything else on it, Help reads them all under "What the app looks like", and Settings can hide the pictures or skip the descriptions.

Also new:
- Two app icons showing the letter K in braille.
- Described video: your default narrator, favourites, recently used voices and the speeds you like are kept for your account, shared with the website, and the player has a playback speed that remembers yours. Videos keep playing when you leave the app or lock the phone, captions stay quiet under VoiceOver, and well-known characters are named.
- Sound Booth: Lyria songs keep their words and their music direction in separate boxes, the words Lyria sang are kept apart from the description, a song pasted from another app sorts itself into its boxes, and songs in the Kids style are always written clean.
- Library: an item's actions are in the VoiceOver Actions rotor, you can ask the library for something and hear when it's filled, a copied link fills in by itself, and the same file is never uploaded twice.
- Family feature pack: a few features are for invited family members, and they show dimmed, with the reason, for everyone else.
- Lilly's moving face is on the Lilly everyone can talk to.

Fixes: "Pick one for me" in the Sound Booth works for every engine, a newly chosen main character shows up in your next chat, a copied link is only read once, and lyric transcription waits longer before giving up.

### 2.1.1 — 2026-09-25

Make a described video. On the Create tab, choose a video from Files, Photos, a YouTube link or your accessible Library items. Add timed spoken descriptions while keeping the original dialogue, music and sound. Try a preview, describe a selected part, choose a narrator, and play or save the video, audio or transcript. Narration is included. Metered analysis shows an estimate and maximum charge before using your account balance. Finished sections can be resumed, and earlier versions stay available while a replacement is made.

Ask the librarian. Mrs. Witherspoon helps you find a book, recording or video from what you remember. Ask about a Library item with its question ready to send.

The describer also has VoiceOver progress announcements, Lock Screen progress, voice samples, version selection, and recovery after interrupted uploads or processing. Your private Library items keep their own sharing permissions.
