## What is Kadō?

Kadō is a mindful habit tracker that gives you a clear, honest picture of how you're building your routines — without the all-or-nothing guilt of a streak counter.

### 4/5 — Superb, but…

Please consider more customizable day start times for users who work overnight. If I could have my day start from the hour I wake up, that would make a world of difference!

### 5/5 — Perfect

The best minimalist tracker

## Version history (last 5 releases)

### 1.10 — 2026-09-26

Version 1.10 — Choose what each widget shows, bring archived habits back, and type a value instead of tapping your way to it.

• Widgets on iOS 18 and on iOS 26 up to 26.3 are here at last. Kadō's widgets never showed up in the widget gallery on those versions, so if you went looking for them and found nothing, have another look.
• Each Home Screen widget can now show the habits you choose: long-press it, tap Edit Widget, and pick up to 5 (small and large) or 8 (medium), in the order you want them. A widget you've never edited keeps showing every habit due today, the way it always has.
• Archived habits have a home: Settings › Archived habits lists them all, and from there you can unarchive a habit — history intact — or delete it for good. An archived habit's own screen offers the same two actions.
• "Log specific value…" now opens a number pad with today's value already selected, so logging 25 push-ups is two keystrokes, not twenty-five taps. Save stays greyed out until the field holds a number in range.
• "Day starts at" can now be any hour, not just midnight to 6 AM, so if you work nights and sleep through the morning, your day can turn over mid-afternoon.
• On the Overview, tap a day to mark a habit completed right there in the popover, without opening the habit first.
• On the Overview, a day before a habit started is no longer a trap. Logging it used to quietly move the habit's start date back and turn every day in between into a miss. Back-dating still works from the habit's own calendar, which now tells you that logging that day makes it the new start date.

### 1.9 — 2026-09-14

Version 1.9 — A little celebration when the day is done, a ring on your Lock Screen, and a fresh coat of colour.

• Finish the last habit on your list and Kadō throws confetti — a quick burst from both sides of the screen, in the app's own sage and paper, with "All done for today" on top. It plays wherever you happen to be in the app, and it never gets in the way of a tap. With Reduce Motion on, the confetti stays home and only the caption appears; VoiceOver announces the moment either way.
• A new "Daily Progress" Lock Screen widget: a ring that closes as today's habits get done, with the Kadō mark at its centre. On a rest day it shows a dash instead of an empty ring.
• The habit colours have been redrawn so all eight carry the same weight on Kadō's paper — no one hue shouting over the others — and every secondary label, from section headers to footers, is darker and easier to read. Dark Mode gets its own lift of each hue.
• On Today, counter and timer habits show the day's total between the − and + buttons, so a tap past the target visibly lands. Every tap answers with a small haptic tick; the one that meets the target still gets the firmer one.
• Widgets turn the page to the new day on their own — at midnight, or at your "Day starts at" hour — without the app having to be opened. They used to keep showing yesterday's ticks until the first habit was logged.
• A habit's detail screen follows every tap again. Stepping a counter from the calendar popover updated once and then looked stuck while the taps were quietly saved, and the score, streak and history stopped moving with it. The popover's counter and timer now step with the same − and + as the Today row.
• Long-press an entry under History on a habit's detail screen to delete it. Swiping the row had never done anything.
• A slip on a "don't" habit no longer counts as done in the day's tally, so the Home Screen widget's count — and now the celebration — only add up habits you actually kept.

### 1.8 — 2026-09-08

Version 1.8 — Weeks that start where you do, and widgets worth a second look.

• Calendars and week grids now start on the day your region starts its week — Sunday across the Americas and much of Asia, Monday across Europe — instead of always Monday. Kadō follows the First Day of Week you have set in iOS Settings if you have set one, and Settings → Week lets you choose for yourself. Streaks for "days per week" habits are counted over the same week you are looking at.
• The large Home Screen widget now shows each habit's current streak and score next to its name, so the week's grid arrives with the numbers behind it rather than seven squares on their own.
• Home Screen widgets stay readable under the Clear and Tinted appearances. The "Today" and "This week" headlines used to disappear into the tile once iOS re-tinted the widget.

### 1.7 — 2026-09-05

Version 1.7 — Spreadsheet-friendly backups, and a fairer "every N days".

• Export and import your data as CSV as well as JSON. Open a backup in Numbers or Excel, edit it, bring it back in — the round-trip keeps everything, notes included. Pick the format in Settings → Data.
• Habits on an "every N days" schedule now count from the last day you actually did them, instead of from a fixed grid. Doing one early no longer leaves the following day showing as missed, and the days you complete ahead of schedule now count toward your score and your streak.
• Fixed a crash that could happen when switching Dev mode on or off while habits were on screen.

### 1.6 — 2026-08-11

Version 1.6 — Late nights and fairer scores.

• New "Day starts at" setting. If you often log habits after midnight, you can push the day rollover to as late as 6 AM — one tap still lands on the day you mean, with no more back-filling through the calendar. Reminders keep their own times, and changing this never moves a completion you've already logged.
• Habits with a "days per week" goal now score correctly. Meeting your weekly target every single week could previously leave the score stuck far below where it belonged.
• The Overview grid now shows completions logged on days the schedule didn't ask for, instead of hiding them as rest days.
