### 4/5 — Gute Suchmaschine

*2026-03-22*

Aber nicht Kostenlos! Nach 100 Suchanfragen ist Schluss. Und relativ teuer $216 Jährlich für Familien ist heftig

### 2/5 — Can’t switch to Google results

*2025-11-17, version 2.2.8*

I like Kagi and will continue to use it on my computer, but seeing Google results in this app is completely broken. Please fix this ASAP! I uninstalled Kagi months ago because of this problem, and I’m disappointed to see that it’s still an issue.

### 4/5 — Alt search engines don’t work

*2025-11-03*

I like Kagi search, it’s great for most day to day use. However, I find myself a bit frustrated with the safari app. My request to search with google through the “More > Google” feature are ignored, so I end up needing to switch to the chrome app just to complete the search on Google.

### 2/5 — Battery Drain - iOS 26

*2025-09-26, version 2.2.8*

Great app overall, but battery drain is atrocious since the iOS 26 upgrade.

### 2/5 — Expensive slow and demands upgrade

*2025-07-11, version 2.2.3*

At 300 searches it stops working and demands an upgrade to USD25 a month plan. That’s NZ$500/year. It also feels slightly slower than Google and Bing. Might be an impression and just the way the page loads. But I didn’t get used to it. Generally accurate search results but this old fashioned search is being left behind by AI search tools.

### 2/5 — Constantly logs out…

*2025-06-08, version 2.2.7*

Went through all the hoops to configure kagi plugin and auth with github. Every time I start safari its forcing to login again.

### 4/5 — Simply the best search engine ever!

*2025-04-15*

This is the best search engine ever, it consistently provides the best results and you can customize them by favoriting sources that you like to get results from and ignoring sources that you don’t like to get results from. The only thing is, it’s a hit expensive though as there is either a monthly or annual fee.

### 3/5 — Great until

*2025-03-31, version 2.2.7*

Great until it’s not. Tried out Kagi as I too value my privacy.

Nothing on the App Store mentions having to pay, but sure enough, hit 100 searches and you gotta pay.

Yes, businesses gotta make money to survive but keeping this hidden has given me a bitter taste.

### 3/5 — Redirection buggy since iOS 18

*2025-03-23*

Sometimes doesn’t redirect and you have to refresh page for it to do so, or there is a delay where it goes to DuckDuckGo for example and then back to Kagi

### 5/5 — Excellent search engine

*2025-02-20, version 2.2.7*

Lets me use kagi as my search engine in Safari

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Pay per search

*2026-07-04*

Delete

### 1/5 — Needs Improvement

*2026-05-14*

Extremely slow to redirect links to Kagi search, 9 out of 10 times Safari takes me to the default search engine result and then Kagi search results roll in. On tabs left open still prompts for user login even after providing the private key.

### 1/5 — Broken

*2026-04-15, version 2.2.8*

Bad to begin with, and recently has gotten much worse. It seems everything I search for is being sent to Ecosia now before also being sent to Kagi, which kind of ruins the point. Disappointing

### 1/5 — Incompatible with VPNs

*2026-02-23*

Doesn’t let you use it with a VPN on

### 1/5 — Too difficult to set up

*2026-02-07*

You need to make this much simpler to set up

### 1/5 — Ist mir für den Preis zu schlecht

*2026-01-11*

Ich muss oft zu Google wechseln, weil die Ergebnisse häufig keinen Sinn ergeben. Als ob ich etwas ganz anderes gesucht habe, sehr komisch.

### 1/5 — !g stopped working

*2025-12-08, version 2.2.8*

It’s no longer possible to see Google AT ALL, even if I type it in the address bar. The extension completely breaks it. It’s been like that for a couple months now and it’s a paid product.

### 1/5 — doesn’t work

*2025-10-11*

for some reason this extension stopped working and i can’t figure out why

### 1/5 — Does not show in Safari extensions

*2025-09-10*

Please specify if the app does not work with certain versions. I am stuck in macOS Monterey because Apple won't release updates for my machine. But a warning would be nice so I don't waste my time if there's a version conflict.

### 1/5 — Uh

*2025-02-25, version 2.2.7*

Why does this private anonymous search app need my full street address for a free trial? 🤔I’m just gonna pass on this one thanks.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Great

*2026-07-01*

Great app, great search.

### 5/5 — So schön…

*2026-06-04*

Gute Suchergebnisse, keine irritierende Werbung, sehr hilfreiche KI. Das Abo lohnt absolut.

### 5/5 — Watched the CEO interview and have WAY more trust in Kagi than all the others.

*2026-03-30*

There’s something about the CEO and founder that gives good vibes, and a level of trust I have lost with other search engines.

Google is garbage now. Bing is half-assed like everything Microsoft does. I’m done with the garbage. Like the CEO, I was making webpages before the internet could even support graphics. Honestly: I blame Google for destroying the internet with monetization.

I’m a full Kagi convert now. I started with this Kagi for Safari, but honestly - Get their Orion browser for the best experience.

### 5/5 — Plugin works super well!

*2026-03-23, version 2.2.3*

I’ve had zero issue with the plugin. Seems to work well. Fingers crossed that Apple adds Kagi to its search engine options.

### 5/5 — Excellent Search Engine, Extension works well

*2026-01-26*

Sometimes apple makes a decision that leaves you scratching your head and understand why they have to be forced. This is a workaround since you can’t add new search engines to safari. And it works well enough except bangs kinda.
The search engine itself which I hoped more reviews talked about is Excellent. It’s the best google alternative here.
Their core goal is admirable for support but no need to be altruistic the search engine stands on its own.
It’s the best customizable search there, The way you can tinker with it is amazing. It’s fast the results are great and it keeps getting better. The other alternatives all fall lacking in one aspect of privacy, customization or ads. There are brilliant people here, their integration of ai is the most tasteful I’ve seen and they understand its purpose as a tool. Live events are a weakness of it and is just a bang away. The team is small which worries me of dealing with industry turbulence, removing its weaknesses and innovating speedily as nothing stops other engines from copying them. But it’s revenue positive. I hope to see it become more popular.

### 5/5 — Everyone should use Kagi

*2025-11-12*

This is a 5-star rating for Kagi itself which is an essential tool that has been missing from my life for years; a legitimate paid for search engine that does not sell my data. The extension itself would be a 4 because of the need to often refresh to get the redirect to hit, but you can always add the default search engine to a content blocker and the redirect to Kagi still works.

### 5/5 — Worth It

*2025-10-23, version 2.2.8*

Yes, paying for search is worth it to get great results, without the ads, slop, and tracking.

Like Google, back when it was useful.

### 5/5 — Cannot use web without this

*2025-06-26*

Switch from DuckDuckGo to Brave search(absolutely no result if the search is not in English) back to DuckDuckGo then Kagi, found out the starter plan is not enough for 3 days of use change to Pro for 8 months, switch back to DuckDuckGo a month see if anything change, than finally decided to return to Kagi. Best search engine so far. Thank you!

### 5/5 — Parfait !

*2025-05-28*

Fonctionne parfaitement, merci de proposer une extension à Safari, j’aime beaucoup vos produits !

### 5/5 — Works well.

*2025-05-08*

Works well for me; I set my default search to duckduckgo.com, enabled the extension, gave the extension permission to access duckduckgo.com, and it worked.
