## What is KaiJar?

Everything a $100-a-year budget app does with your bank data — done from your
statements, on your phone, free.

KaiJar never asks for your bank login. Import a PDF or CSV statement
from any bank, review every transaction before it lands, and KaiJar learns
your merchants so the next import files itself.

BUDGET LIKE THE BIG APPS
• Give every dollar a job, and see what's left to spend at a glance
• Unspent money rolls into next month — a quiet month builds a buffer
• Overspending carries forward honestly, never swept under the rug
• Split one receipt across categories: one Costco run, three budgets

SEE WHERE IT ALL GOES
• The Money Map shows your whole month in one picture
• Net worth, tracked over time from balances you enter
• A debt payoff planner that shows what paying $50 extra actually saves
• Savings goals with real funded-by dates

SHARE WITH YOUR HOUSEHOLD
• One budget between two phones, no per-seat pricing
• Recurring bills post themselves and remind you the day before

PRIVATE BY DESIGN
• Your data stays on your device unless you turn on the optional account
• No ads, no analytics, no trackers — the privacy label speaks for itself
• Back up everything to a file you own, restore it anywhere

No subscriptions. No bank linking. No catch.

## Version history (last 4 releases)

### 1.3.0 — 2026-08-21

Penny Budget is now KaiJar.

Same app, same person building it, and your data is exactly as you left it. If the icon on your home screen looks different this morning, that is why — nothing has been taken over.

Every transaction, budget, card, savings goal and category is exactly where it was. You do not need to sign in again, re-import a statement, or re-share your household — the sharing code you already gave someone still works.

Why: there were a dozen or more apps called some version of "Penny Budget", and being impossible to find in a search is a bad problem for an app you open every day. KaiJar is ours alone.

The new icon is a jar filling up with coins, which is closer to what the app actually does than a piggy bank was.

ALSO NEW IN THIS UPDATE
• Pay for something straight out of a fund. Pick the fund on a transaction and the withdrawal is filed for you — no re-typing the same amount on another screen. You see what the fund will be left with before you save, and deleting or refunding the charge puts the money back.
• The Budget screen now stops you before an edit assigns more than the month's income, tells you by how much, and offers a way out.

### 1.2.0 — 2026-08-11

The biggest update yet:
• Unspent money now rolls into next month (turn it on per category)
• Split one transaction across several categories
• Debt payoff planner — see what paying extra actually saves
• Net worth, now with a trend over time
• Goal target dates: "funded by March at $200/mo"
• Statement import learns your merchants and can bulk-assign categories
• Tags, a refund tracker, and receipt attachments
• A cleaner look on every screen, in light and dark

### 1.1.0 — 2026-08-01

Family sharing, accounts, and statement import.

- Share one budget with family — invite them with a code and everyone co-edits the same numbers
- Optional account with email or Sign in with Apple, so you can back up and restore your budget
- Sync your own budget across your devices with a single toggle
- Import a credit card or bank statement from a CSV export, with every row shown for review first
- Search transactions by amount, not just by name
- Delete your account and its cloud backup from inside the app at any time
- Fixes: statement import now opens correctly, and the Security screen no longer goes blank

### 1.0 — 2026-07-15
