### 2/5 — Awfully inconsistent

*2026-06-04, version 1.7.4*

This has to be one of the worst running apps I’ve ever used.

The imbedded mathematics in this thing just don’t make sense.
First: it’s just bad at simple math. Like, it’ll tell me I have 29k left to run but I have 1 14k run left on my weekly schedule.
Second: Everytime I open the app to look at my next run, it’s changed. I JUST opened it to see I was running 17.7k today and then when I went to look again, moments later, it now said I was supposed to run 12.3k.
Third: the pace calculator doesn’t work more than once at a time. If you check for a marathon pace and then try to go for another race distance, it won’t work. You have to close the app entirely.

I’m so happy I only paid for one month (which btw It kept telling me I hadn’t paid but it dinged me anyway so if I wouldn’t have known to just close the app and start again it would have charged me twice) because I will not be continuing with this.

Awful.

### 2/5 — Unfortunate bugs

*2026-01-06*

Love the concept but it’s hard to trust the app when it is presenting different mileage recommendations every other day and it can’t seem to add up my planned mileage correctly.

It went from recommending 55 miles this week to now saying I have 19 miles remaining after one 8 mile run.
It also reads that I have 7.5 unplanned miles despite having 52 miles planned.

**Developer response:** hey there, thanks for flagging. could you please contact support from within the app so we can see what's going on there. the mileage target is a training load target under the hood, so distance will jump around at the beginning of the week as it is sensitive to intensity changes. that does sound like it's jumping around more than it should, so keen to look into your account to see what's happening there! we did have some issues in the planner when in miles, which are resolved in our upcoming release (early next week). look forward to sorting all of that out for you asap :)

### 5/5 — Seriously motivating

*2025-09-17*

The app’s data and simplicity makes me want to run. I feel super motivated and like I can make healthy progress without overly complicated training plans.

**Developer response:** awesome, thank you :)

### 5/5 — Great App - easy to use!

*2025-09-17, version 1.5.4*

Super clean, effective, and keeps me consistent with my training.

### 5/5 — Such a great app

*2025-09-17*

I started using this with skepticism, it took a sec but I am seeing real progress with a rigorous step by step improvement plan/ training companion. Give it a shot, it may surprise you. It definitely surprised me!

**Developer response:** glad to hear this!

### 5/5 — Best Running app Ever

*2025-09-15*

Get fast. Get fit.

### 5/5 — Accurate race day predictions

*2025-09-15*

Kaizen has been the most accurate race day predictor I’ve used. It simplifies training and provides a straightforward model for improvement.

### 5/5 — Great running companion

*2025-09-15*

Perfect companion for intermediate to advanced runners. I’ve been looking for something like this for a long time and Kaizen has a simple but effective interface.

### 5/5 — Helped me get a pb

*2025-09-15*

Used it in the lead up to my half marathon. Accurately predicted my time and helped me get a on

### 5/5 — Super accurate!

*2025-09-15*

Super helpful in my training. Best race predictions on the market!

### 5/5 — Amazing app

*2025-09-12, version 1.5.4*

This app has in a short space of time become absolutely central to my training program, and it’s been key to me hitting my predicated race times almost exactly for the last two races I’ve run. Would highly recommend.

### 5/5 — App gives me the data I need

*2025-09-12*

I hope I can hit my pb next marathon, looks like this app has what I need todo it

**Developer response:** 100%

### 5/5 — Kaizen

*2025-09-12*

Good app

**Developer response:** thanks!

### 2/5 — Needs significant development

*2025-08-17, version 1.5.2*

Far far too little early for getting all these awesome YouTubers to promote the app, it’s just not ready.

Crashed several times for me, UI isn’t particularly intuitive, and just generally lacks features and functionality.

Worst part, my training volume and interval splits are higher than they’ve been since my last major race yet it’s predictions across all distances are significantly below all my PBs; in fact, I ran a quicker 5k only a couple of weeks ago and I’m now apparently 1:41 slower today 🤣

Great idea, lacks execution!

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Seriously buggy

*2026-05-13*

Set up process crashed or looped me around like 4 times and required to close and reopen the app. Also seems super basic compared to stuff like Runalyze which is infinitely cheaper with tons more info. I can’t recommend but if it works for you I don’t judge.

### 1/5 — Useless app

*2026-01-21, version 1.5.11*

Not sure how this app works. I just run a 20min 5k as part of training and the app says under ideal conditions I would do 21 minutes. For the rest it doesn’t really offer anything at all

### 1/5 — Doesn’t work

*2025-10-20*

It seems that app is so buggy that it doesn’t work at all. Tried multiple times and it doesn’t even get past the first step.

**Developer response:** hi there, sorry to hear you weren't able to onboard. we were affected by the AWS outage on 20 october. everything should be back up and running now. please reach out to us at hello@runkaizen.com and we'd be happy to grant you an extended trial :)

### 1/5 — Hard Pass 👎

*2025-09-01*

Wildly inaccurate predictions (I just ran a 5K PR 3 mins faster than what the app predicted me to run), and then the classic “Subscribe for $89 to use this app!” No thanks. People are sick of subscriptions.

**Developer response:** hi there, thanks for the feedback. predictions are more accurate when tailoring them to races that went well in good conditions. if you haven't had races tagged in Strava, this could also be the issue. feel free to reach out to hello@runkaizen.com we'd be happy to help you out with an extended trial

### 1/5 — Do not download

*2025-08-18, version 1.5.2*

Terrible. App doesn’t work. If I could give it 0 stars, I would.

### 1/5 — Bugs and bugs

*2025-08-18, version 1.5.2*

Nice idea, but very very buggy. Every time I enter a run it would show different mileage than I put in. Even when some of my runs were imported from Strava, the mileage was correct, but the pace was well off. Maybe some issues with unit conversion between miles and kilometres.

### 1/5 — Subscription charge no reminder

*2025-07-21*

You can try Kaizen free for 7 days. They have a nice chart showing how the free trial works. It clearly shows “Get a reminder” get notified that your trial is ending. They conveniently skipped this step - no email or push notification that the trial was ending. Just a big fat subscription charge for a full year.

In terms of the app itself I like the idea but in practice I didn’t find it that useful. You can plan your training to a weekly target, but the weekly target changes depending on your paces which makes it hard to actually plan. You can also only see one week ahead. It’s something that could be interesting to look at every now and again with the race predictions. But the subscription fee is a lot to pay for a race predictor.

**Developer response:** thanks for the feedback. regarding the missed notification, this may have been that you didn't opt in for notifications. either way we'd be happy to arrange a refund. feel free to contact our support and we can help you out

### 1/5 — Poor work on the Bugs

*2025-07-21*

Its seemed interesting at first, but couldn’t even get passed the prediction screen and I would have been happy to get some random just to use the app but it couldn’t. At this point I’m convinced a normal app like strava of the watch app from some brand are better indication without the extra hassle of anything.

**Developer response:** thanks for your feedback. if you contact hello@runkaizen.com, we'd be happy to dig into your account and understand what's happened there. because the plan is built by processing a runner's actual training, there are sometimes activities that can't be processed (and have a knock on effect) meaning we can't generate predictions and the plan. more than happy to grant you an extended free trial once resolved

### 1/5 — Can’t get past race prediction screen

*2025-07-03, version 1.4.12*

As per the title, still stuck on that screen even after reinstall. Unfortunate. 🤷🏻‍♂️

### 1/5 — Can’t even try the app without giving phone number away

*2025-05-04, version 1.4.9*

I don’t know if the app is good or not and I can’t give it a try before it requires my personal phone number. There are definitely more privacy friendly ways to have new users join your app without going straight for their phone numbers. I’m afraid I’ll just be deleting the app without even giving it a chance.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Wow !!!!

*2026-08-16*

Best running app i‘ve ever test

### 5/5 — Amazing platform and support

*2026-05-02, version 1.7.1*

I’ve tried every app from Runna to VDot to manual programming. I have a crazy work schedule and kids and often find it time to do prescribed runs on a schedule. Kaizen is the most adaptive training app I’ve ever seen. Not only does it adapt to what you do, it easily adapts to your life.

When I had a question, Kaizen support reached back and answered my questions immediately.

10/10 app. Highly recommended for anyone who cares about running.

### 5/5 — Great app

*2026-04-22, version 1.6.3*

I like how this app leaves me to train the way I want, but still gives good predictions that adjust directly with my recent training volume and intensity. Switched from Runna and am very happy with it.

### 5/5 — Love Kaizen

*2026-04-20*

Kaizen is the only app that’s kept me structured, motivated, and actually improving.

**Developer response:** awesome, glad to hear it's working for you!

### 5/5 — Prediction

*2026-01-18, version 1.5.11*

Got my 5k race prediction spot on (predicted 17:58 and I ran a 17:59)

### 5/5 — Best Race Performance Predictor

*2025-12-15*

This app has really given me the confidence in my training being on track and about what I could achieve come race day.

### 5/5 — Quality app

*2025-11-30, version 1.5.8*

Great for all runners!

### 5/5 — Customer Support & Adjustable Training

*2025-11-05*

I have had positive interactions when reaching out to the customer support team, and within the app itself I appreciate that the training plan adjusts based on volume and intensity, providing some flexibility unlike a typical rigid training program.

### 5/5 — Works well for me!

*2025-10-08, version 1.5.4*

Just getting back into training for a half marathon and this app is really helping me with motivation and ramping up my fitness level. Really enjoying the ‘Miles Better’ podcast too.

### 5/5 — Fantastic for training and my PB

*2025-10-08, version 1.5.4*

I used kaizen for two training blocks so far and both times it made a big difference to how consistently I trained, it’s really simple, helping me focus on what mattered most. I achieved a 3:16 PB the first time using it and would have improved on that in my most recent marathon if the weather had been less hot!
