But a good app will take you to THAT news story when the notification is tapped. This is not a good app. Most of the time it dumps me into the main page where I search for the story and can’t find it..... Maybe it’s not the app. In that case it might be that the notification goes out before the story actually airs, and that’s a problem with the people administering the app. Today (11/7/2019) I saw a story about Great Bend electing a write-in candidate for mayor. I’d already seen the ad for a local restaurant and it says you can skip the ad, but the button does nothing. On a previous story I was able to go back to the main page and then go to the story again and it played just fine. On the election story it started a new ad, then another, then another, then another.... not sure how long, but I endured since I could neither skip nor bounce out and back in. Then there was some ABC news, then KAKE finally dropped in their own video, but the election piece was not the first story. Just thought you might know why some folks are not using the app. I’m deleting it from my devices now. ### 1/5 — Won’t open *2019-08-05, version 4.1.0* Has not worked since before apple update. The app is clean, not fussy and easy to use. My only complaint is that the navigation is a little non-intuitive. When I click into the weather by area videos, there’s no back button/link to drill back out to the main screen. I figured out to swipe but left or right? Don’t now let’s just try one. I don’t like that, would rather have a definite link to drill in, and a definitive link to go back. Otherwise app is great! ### 3/5 — Mostly okay *2023-03-15* The app is mostly okay. I get the alerts that I want and not too many but most days there are stories that pop up as a notification but the story never gets posted to the app to read later, you HAVE TO watch the new at whatever time the story airs to see what it is about. Not everyone has time to sit down and actually watch the news broadcast every single day so it would be nice if ALL stories covered on the news broadcast we actually posted in the app to see the video or read it later. ### 2/5 — The new update is not good *2024-07-30, version 212.0* The app updated and half the time it doesn’t open; either giving me an error or doesn’t move passed the Kake News screen. When it does open I don’t like the new lay out ### 2/5 — App not refreshed with current articles/news *2024-07-18, version 212.0* The news articles and different topic articles have not refresh in four or five days and after submitting a bug report, no response was received and had not been updated. Hard to stay current on things going on if their app isn’t refreshing or updated. ### 2/5 — TOO MANY ADS! *2022-09-29, version 6.8.0* I get that you have to run ads in order to make money but there’s a line & you guys have crossed that line & gone all the way to the other side when it comes to how many ads are shown not only on the website/ in the articles but also on the videos. It’s absolutely ridiculous & a nuisance which is why I will not be using it. ### 2/5 — Bad editing and *2020-10-10, version 6.0* I’m not too fond of the news they choose to cover in opposed to what all happens here locally and sadly disheartened with how they choose to portray the information they receive. However, I am more disappointed in whomever is in charge of editing the articles. It’s a disgrace to all editors seeing all the typos and bad grammar so commonly utilized by KAKE news. ### 2/5 — Pretty good, but annoying ads. *2017-08-03, version 1.6.0* Advertisements pay for the app. I get it. But ads that constantly pop up and take over the entire screen (forcing you to reach across the screen to reach for the "X") is an aggressive way to advertise. The app developer and the advertiser should recognize that by irritating the app user, you really show the app and the products being sold in a negative way. To the advertiser: I will not shop at places who advertise this way. To the app creator: This design is not being creative, it simply annoying.
