## What is Kala?

Kala turns "I understand but I can't speak" into "yes, I can speak."

Short daily sessions of real translation, honest feedback, and the
uncomfortable work that actually teaches.

You get an English sentence. You translate it into your target language
from scratch. Kala grades your attempt, tells you exactly what you
missed, and builds a weakness profile over time — so every session
targets what you actually struggle with.

No streaks. No trophies. Just the movement.

WHAT YOU GET
— Adaptive sentence difficulty using CEFR levels (A1–C2)
— Error analysis across grammar, vocabulary, case, tense, and more
— Vocab tracking — missed words captured automatically
— Daily insights showing your real progress over time
— 14 languages: Greek, French, Spanish, German, Italian, Portuguese
(Portugal and Brazil), Russian, Serbian, Japanese, Korean, Chinese,
  Filipino, and Hindi

Kala is for learners who are at least A1 in their target language and
ready to graduate from passive recognition to active production.

## Version history (last 4 releases)

### 1.0.3 — 2026-10-13

Email sign-in
You can now sign up and sign in with an email address, alongside Google
and Apple. If you forget your password, you can reset it from the
sign-in screen.

Focus your practice (Pro)
Tell Kala what you want to work on — "masculine nouns", "the genitive",
"past tense" — and your sentences will aim at it. Set it separately for
each language, and it stays until you change it.

### 1.0.2 — 2026-09-23

All 14 languages now available at setup

Greek, French, Spanish, Serbian, Filipino, Russian, Japanese,
German, Korean, Italian, Chinese, Hindi and both Portuguese
variants can now be chosen when you first set up Kala.
Previously only six appeared.

Getting back to the home screen

The back button on the Revision, Vocab and Insights screens
sometimes didn't respond. This is fixed.

Sessions no longer get stuck

If your connection stalled mid-session, the screen could freeze
with no way to continue. Kala now tells you what happened and
lets you pick up where you left off.

### 1.0.1 — 2026-09-05

Now with more languages to learn — including Greek, French, Spanish, Italian, German, Portuguese, Russian, Japanese, Korean, Chinese, Hindi, Serbian, and Filipino. Plus bug fixes and improvements.

### 1.0 — 2026-08-19

No release notes.
