## What is Kalimat?

You already know the words. Kalimat helps you know what they mean.

Most of us read the Quran without following it. Kalimat fixes that from the
vocabulary up: roughly 600 words account for about 75% of every word in the
Quran. Learn those, and most of what you recite starts to make sense.

Kalimat is completely free. No ads, no subscription, no account, no tracking.

WHAT YOU LEARN
• 600 of the most frequent Quranic words, introduced in frequency order — the
  most useful ones first
• A plain-language explanation for every single word
• Real Quranic verses showing each word in context, set in authentic Nastaleeq
  script
• Trilateral roots, so you start recognizing whole word families
• Grammatical forms — present tense, imperative, active participle, verbal
  noun, plurals

HOW REVIEWS WORK
Kalimat uses SM-2 spaced repetition, the algorithm behind the most respected
memorization tools. Words you know space out; words you miss come back sooner.
You never have to grade yourself — the app notices whether you were right and
how quickly you answered, and schedules the next review for you.

Four question formats keep sessions from turning into autopilot:
• Knowledge Check — Arabic to meaning
• Recall Check — meaning to Arabic
• Listening Check — hear the word, then choose the meaning
• True or False — quick judgment calls

The same word is never tested the same way twice in a row.

Word meanings and explanations — not just the menus — are translated into
English, Albanian, Bosnian, German, French, Italian, Spanish, Turkish, Dutch,
Swedish, Russian, Urdu, Norwegian and Malayalam.

HEAR EVERY WORD
Built-in Arabic text-to-speech reads each word aloud at three speeds. Install an
Enhanced Arabic voice in iOS Settings and Kalimat picks it up automatically.

PRIVATE BY DEFAULT
Everything works offline — every word, verse and translation ships inside the
app. No third-party SDKs, no analytics, no servers of ours. Your progress syncs
through your own private iCloud and nowhere else.
