### 4/5 — Factorial?

*2022-09-09, version 2.9.2*

Can it do factorials?

### 3/5 — Weird

*2022-04-26, version 2.9*

Why is everything shoved on either side of the screen? And where is the clear all button? And why does it display the calculation changing as you type. Weird…

### 3/5 — Why isn’t there an equal sign?

*2021-09-09, version 2.9*

Why isn’t there an equal sign?

### 3/5 — graph control difficulties

*2021-03-10, version 2.9*

it is very hard to control the veiw of the graphical interface with very small solution like −(x−2)^2+4. i would consider getting pro if this graphical issue wasnt frustrating. would also be a huge avantage to be allowed to long press numbers to easely change the last digit to the selected power or fractionnal form

Answer:
That pinch that you say if very frustrating i would send you a screen record if i could. A soon as the data gets very dense it is very hard to zoom in i have to let go both my fingers at the same time to even get some hope of holding the way i zoomed in.

### 4/5 — Almost perfect!

*2019-11-07, version 2.8.2*

This app would be perfect if it worked with split view on iPad. Let me clarify, technically works, but when you try to use it the whole keyboard comes up so it takes up 75% of the screen, defeating the purpose. Besides that, its great!

### 4/5 — One of the best, but please have an option for dark mode even when iOS 13’s dark mode is off

*2019-10-27, version 2.8.1*

This is one of the most straightforward and useful calculator apps I’ve ever used, but can you guys please add back an option for the Kalkyl app to be dark mode independently of iOS 13’s Light or Dark mode?

Prior to iOS 13 the Kalkyl app always had a dark background and I loved it but now it changes to a light background based on the system’s dark or light mode.
The light mode makes the app less appealing and harder to use for me, so I would appreciate it if we got a manual toggle for independent dark mode on Kalkyl.

### 5/5 — Just what I was looking for.

*2019-06-03, version 2.7.1*

Great replacement for the standard iPhone calculator. Excellent support. I reported a problem and it was fixed the next day. I’ve evaluated many apps for my iPhone and this one is the best by far.

### 5/5 — Wow I’m impressed

*2019-06-03, version 2.7*

Impressed for the first time a calculator is working very efficiently and amazing performance quality!

Need up the calculations history!

### 5/5 — Favorite calculator for classes

*2019-05-30, version 2.7*

I used this calculator almost everyday in my physics class. It helped a lot on class assignments when my actual calculator went missing.
If it wasn’t as power hungry on the device (I think that’s iOS though, since that’s also present in the stock app to a slightly lesser extent), it’d be even better. I do kinda wish there was a landscape view similar to the iPad’s implementation of orientation on larger iPhones. Overall though, it’s my favorite calculator app on iOS!

### 5/5 — Great alternative!

*2019-05-19, version 2.6*

This is how iPhone built in calculator should have been at first place. 3D Touch, Haptic Feedback, 3D Touch cursor function all these basics which didn’t do with their built in calculator app are all present in this app. The feature to swipe down on the = button for previous calculations is gross.

### 5/5 — Amazing

*2019-05-09, version 2.6*

This calculator is amazing! It’s one of those things that you take for granted until someone shows you a better way. I can’t believe that it is free.

### 5/5 — EXPONENTIATION Carets!

*2019-04-15, version 2.6*

Finally a scientific calculator app with normal exponentiation carets! I really appreciate what you’ve done making this free of adds and in-app purchases. Forever thankful!

### 5/5 — No ads

*2019-04-10, version 2.6*

Great calculator and no advertisements which is nice

### 4/5 — A free calculator

*2019-03-07, version 2.6*

The calculator is similar to the Apple app. But it does have more functions that makes it better. One thing I would like to have is a memory function. Otherwise it is a very good calculator.

**Developer response:** There’s “ans” on the equals button for the previous calculations.

Don’t miss the 3D Touch (or multiple touches on iPad) cursor and selection on the keyboard.

### 5/5 — a very good app

*2019-03-02, version 2.6*

Need a CLR button.

### 5/5 — Amazing

*2019-02-01, version 2.6*

Incredible calculator app, much better than all other calculator apps I have tried! Easy five star from me. I would give six stars if I could.

Very convenient and easy to calculate $ / KWh etc. for a solar electric project !!! Thanks !
Also for utility gas bill calculations.

### 1/5 — Hard to know how to use.

*2019-09-02, version 2.7.1*

It's not easy to konw how to use it to ordinary people like me.

### 1/5 — Forget it it’s crappy

*2018-09-06, version 2.5*

This calculator is t worth a crap don’t know why I can’t have my original one

### 1/5 — Derive isn't correct

*2013-05-15, version 1.6.1*

I just tried to derive cos(2x-pi) and it told me the result was -sin((x+2)+(-1)xpi) :S has this been tested? Needs some work and an update I think... Could be really good...

### 1/5 — Problem with 3D plot

*2013-03-31, version 1.6.1*

3D plot became unresponsive. Regardless of the equation I enter, all I get is a flat surface without axes or labels.

### 1/5 — What's Awesome?

*2013-03-28, version 1.6.1*

Not this app! Keeps crashing. Useless

### 1/5 — Crashes on launch

*2012-12-03, version 1.6*

It might be a wonderful program but I will never know, as it crashes at launch.

### 2/5 — Missing history

*2025-09-27, version 3.0.6*

This is one of the better calculator that I have used so far. Can you add uneditable history? That’s the only thing missing in this app.

### 2/5 — Subscribe for a..... simple graph calculator?

*2020-09-14, version 2.9*

Pro:

App is ok,
so I will give credit where credit is due. I use it maybe... once a month when a basic calculation requires more than talking to siri. It is better than the native ios calculator. I am too lazy to find another app to quench my software payment grievances related to this app. Yes, this review is mainly a rant about the subscription service.
But before that: The instant graphing is nice. The are other alternatives like Desmos and Quick Graph + that have more more functionality and graphing ability but the buttons are smaller lol, so I guess in reality that is the selling point here.

The Rant:
I just wanted to let the developer know that I do appreciate the vibe of the app but I perceive the subscription service with a sense of disgust. I understand that subscriptions make predicting your income easier but on the flip side it makes it more difficult for the customer who now has to keep track of the subscription and might forget since it is just a calculator (which is probably the real intended purpose).
I highly doubt the upkeep argument. This is a basic calculator with some graphing ability, not a new content factory like media, netflix. The customer might also have their history erased if they don’t pay. Nice

Yeah, and it is true I have not subscribed to the calculator so some of this is speculation and might not be 100% a c c u r a t e... but the important part where I am trying to help here is that this is my perception of the app, which in reality, is more important than the truth because I am the potential customer.

You can take this with a grain of salt. I imagine you are also pretty lazy like me and probably just like “Awwwww, cute, sorry but I am too lazy to even think about this anymore” Honestly, I enjoyed reviewing this because it is just so insane to me.

The real thing that probably motivated my relatively low rating is just my hate for subscription payment models in general. Moleskin apps immediately come to mind... But even cars now, BMW is making people subscribe for heated seats...

So yeah please, money is nice, I would pay if it was one time but this just ruins the vibe

just say it out-loud to your friends:
“I subscribe to a calculator”
You wouldn’t pay for this either because you would be embarrassed

### 2/5 — m2

thanks

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Great app!

*2025-06-07, version 3.0.5*

This app has removed any need for me to ever use the default calculator app. It works so much better and is so much more useful. Must have app

### 5/5 — Yes

*2025-06-01, version 3.0.5*

Portraits good

### 5/5 — Perfect

*2024-08-09, version 3.0.3*

I very rarely leave a written review but this Calculator has single handendly improved the quality of my life out of any app on my phone. It is SO useful to math out stuff on the go as well as having a graphing calculator built in. Thank you so much for making this <3

### 5/5 — Best Simple Calculator Ever

*2020-05-29, version 2.8.8*

This is what Apple should have done to begin with. Really great calculator, simple, but very effective. Could use a history feature, but honestly it’s still the best. Thank you for keeping it free.

### 5/5 — The most intuitive and well-rounded calculator app for both iOS and iPadOS.

*2019-12-07, version 2.8.3*

Kalkyl is a one of a kind app. All of Apple’s products revolve around one font: San Francisco. I have tried other calculator apps, but their ugly fonts just don’t fit in. I have tried a different calculator app for my iPad, but it had ads. Kalkyl has no ads, and it looks very nice when paired with other Apple apps. The app has all of the features of the regular Apple calculator, and you can opt to pay $4.99 USD yearly to get a pro version, which comes with a choice of two app icons, currency conversion, and more. nordic io, you did a wonderful job. I have nothing negative to say about your wonderful app. The inclusion of graphs and the iPad keyboard-esque flick of a key to get more options makes it truly, the best calculator app for iOS and iPadOS. Something that you can do to really make this the best app would to give it Apple Watch support. I know it would take a long time to make it with Xcode, but all of the Apple Watch users out there would really enjoy it. You guys did a wonderful job.

### 5/5 — Cool

*2019-11-23, version 2.8.3*

Cool

### 5/5 — Bug

*2019-10-29, version 2.8.2*

2206*(0.67%+1.17%) error result
If it can not parse the expression, you should give the error message instead of the error result.

### 5/5 — Dark mode on day 1

*2019-09-20, version 2.8*

Still the only calculator app I use daily. Love how easy it is to make a quick graph.

### 5/5 — Kalkyl is just a really calculator

*2019-08-28, version 2.7.1*

Kalkyl’s tag line is already a perfect summary of the app.

The one thing that sets this app apart from the others is definitely the super intuitive and simple interface. In combination with the beautiful design and haptic feedback, this is my favourite calculator app on the App Store. The graphing is just the cherry on top. There’s no reason to use the default calculator app over this one.

If I could change one thing it would be better support for iPad multitasking as the buttons currently take up the lower half of the screen.

This app doesn’t have every mathematical operation you can think of but that’s not what it’s missing because it excels as what it does best: quick calculations. Very satisfied!

### 5/5 — The Best Calculator App

*2019-07-30, version 2.7.1*

This calculator is fast, ad-free and elegant. It takes up almost no storage and looks similar to the iPhone calculator (which is why I downloaded it).
