I really like the playlist feature! I would like to see this app expanded to include a program grid, more info about the shows, links to podcasted shows perhaps? You can delete & re-install every time to want to use it... I'm better off using safari - follow any link from kalx's "how to listen" page. ### 2/5 — Not the App’s fault… *2021-05-09, version 3.1.0* In terms of its musical programming KALX is great! It would be one of my favorite free-form stations, except… their sound quality, at least when streaming, is terrible (I’m not in the Bay Area, so I don’t know how their over-the-air quality is). I really hoped this app would make a difference, but not really. The station is so good musically that I can tolerate the poor sound for a while. And this app is nice enough, even if it couldn’t help the sound quality. It is what I will use for playing this station going forward. Play list is easy to use and stays reasonably up to date. Nice visual design too. ### 2/5 — Bit rate too low *2015-06-01, version 2.0* While KALX does offer bit rates reasonable for music, their app is stuck at the lowest, and lacks any way to choose otherwise. ### 3/5 — Basic version was better *2024-03-12* The recent revision of the app has brought a lot of new features, but also a lot of bugs. I preferred the simpler more reliable version. For example, whenever I tap the Recent Playlist button within the Playlist surface, the app crashes. ### 3/5 — Three stars until the bugs are fixed *2013-01-02, version 2.0* Awesome radio broadcast. One possible workaround for crash and iPhone stalling memory (?) hogging issues:: double push the home button and delete the app from the "Standby" queue immediately after use. Can't tell if app is still monitored/updated ### 4/5 — somewhat missing the old version *2015-12-09, version 3.0.0* this update is more flashy and colorful; the artwork is interesting too. i love that it's easier to access the current playlist from within the app. maybe it's just me but i've found it now takes longer to stream - at times i've waited 30+ seconds. not that big of a deal but noticeable. the app crashes often too; yesterday it stopped streaming three times in a row. that's usually when i switch over to my radio or streaming from kalx's website (best reception). i miss the old time counter too. ### 4/5 — Use KALX web site to multitask *2010-08-12, version 0* Use listen live feature at KALX website to be able to check email.
