Outstanding app.  It’s easy to use, allows you to draw the kana and the compare what you draw to the stylized and handwritten versions.  Perfect for learning.

Practice writing hiragana and katakana with touch screen. You can select sections of the alphabet and practice and then test yourself. This is an amazing app that works. Ive tried to learn stuff like this in the past but it feels much easier and faster with this.

I tried many apps and this one is not the prettiest one but is very effective for learning kanji. It’s possible to select a subset of characters to work effectively on a few at a time.

... Für diese tolle App. Ich wünsche mir für das Test Set noch eine Auswahlmöglichkeit um hiragana und katakana getrennt wählen zu können, wenn ich nur ausgewählte kanas lernen möchte. Ansonsten tolles Update!

Wirklich eine top App! Als Japanisch-Anfänger beschäftigen wir uns gerade mit den Kana, und mit dieser App kann ich nun überall dass Schreiben und Lesen der Kana lernen. Und man spart Papier xD
Einfach spitze, diese App!

Und eine kurze Anmerkung zum Vor-Bewerter: Man kann wählen, ob man die vorgezeichneten Kana des Erstellers oder die offiziellen Standartzeichen als Vorlage haben möchte. Und die vereinfachten vorgezeichneten sind definitiv lesbar für echte Japaner, keine Sorge. Die App ist ihren Preis und fünf Sterne definitiv wert ;D

If you really want to learn hiragana and katakana this app definitely provides the best method to learn. The only down side is that the app does not recognize the accuracy of what you write in practice mode and leaves you to determine how well you did. Test mode is great exactly what I was looking for in an app like this. The app could definitely be more refined but for what it offers at the price you can't go wrong.

I use this buggy app - or rather don't - on an iPad 2 with now IOS 7. All but the first version of the App are not working at all, simply because you cannot write.

At the slightest shake of the device your writing gets erased, wich is usually with the start of any stroke. Resetting, reinstalling, nothing helps. The only ease is to keep your device flat on a table, which is hardly practical.

Cómo se puede cobrar por esto? No tiene sonidos de pronunciación, no valora si lo has hecho bien o mal, lo tienes que deidir tu mismo... Es una buena idea incompleta... Qué pérdida de dinero...

Man muss selbst entscheiden, ob die eigene Eingabe als richtig oder falsch bewertet wird. Aber gerade das kann man doch als Anfänger nicht, da man nicht weiß, welche Kriterien im Japanischen für richtig oder falsch gelten: muss es ganz genau sein, oder reicht halb genau, oder was? Bei einer solchen App hätte ich mir eine intelligent programmierte Bewertung der eingegebenen Zeichen gewünscht.

**Developer response:** Auf eine automatische Richtig/Falsch Bewertung wurde bewusst verzichtet. Egal wie gut man diese programmieren würde, Falsch-Bewertungen, welche der User nicht nachvollziehen kann, ließen sich nie vollständig vermeiden. Auch gibt es unterschiedliche Auffassungen wie genau man die Vorgabe einhalten muss. Nur weil man z.B. bei der Strichform etwas von der Vorgabe abweicht muss dies nicht zwangsläufig falsch sein. Daher zeigt die App in der Auflösung die korrekte Strichreihenfolge & Form an und der Nutzer kann dann selbst entscheiden ob er diese nach seinen Massstäben getroffen hat.

The redesign has made some very stupid changes and taken away useful features! First off I miss the old interface and the "black and orange " option does not put it all back. When you typing during text modes the text is light gray on white which makes it almost impossible to see what you're typing in!

But that's not the worst. New katakana is added which is GREAT but when you go to practice mode you have to SCROLL to see the full character. That's pretty useless considering you need to learn the full character together, not in parts. 

I like the additions but HATE how functionality and the display which I was very used to learning on has been taken away. Please at least give back the option to write combined characters without scrolling!

Die Kana sind ziemlich hässlich vorgezeichnet, beispielsweise wurde beim Hiraganazeichen 'ki' der unterbrochene Bogen einfach zu einem geraden Strich vereinfacht. Ich kenne mich nicht genug aus, um zu sagen ob das einem bei japanische Handschrift auch so begegnen kann, mit der 'ordentlichen' Schreibweise', die man in Lehrbüchern antrifft, hat das aber wenig gemein.
Wenn man das Schreiben der Kana schon draufhat, kann man diese App zum wiederholen benutzen. Als einziges Medium zum Kanalernen scheint sie mir allerdings ungeeignet.

**Developer response:** Es gibt zwei Schriften in der App. Die eine ist an der Lehrbuch Strichreihenfolge orientiert. Die Handschrift ist an der täglichen Schreibweise orientiert und kann leicht abweichen (Wie bei jeder Sprache gibt es gibt es kaum jmd. der immer 100% die Lehrbuchschreibweise verwendet)

I am enjoying my initial experience having just drilled my 1st ten characters.  There is a bit of a learning curve in understanding all the functionalities available.  It's not entirely clear within the app what certain settings are for, however to the developer's credit there is excellent documentation at the provided link in the info section.  Overall it provides a powerful approach to learning the Japanese characters.  

A few things I'd appreciate:
- mixed test mode where it varies the question formats to stimulate learning in different ways and to keep things fresh
- intelligent adding of characters to practice then test sessions as one's test results improve (as it stands one must manually set which characters to work on)

Wieso diese App für sie wichtig ist?

Durch das lernen der hiragana können Sie schnell lesen lernen.

Was mich persönlich stört ist das es nur hiragana gibt wobei Katakana auch sehr wichtig ist zum lernen. 

Wenn die Entwickler das hier lesen würde ich mich sehr freuen wenn Sie Katakana noch hinzufügen!

**Developer response:** Die App hat bereits von Anfang an Hiragana & Katakana. Unter Einstellungen -> Test Set kannst du wählen welche Zeichen (Hiragana, Katakanaa, beides, bestimmte Auswahl...) du üben und Quiz machen willst.

I’ve only had this app for a little bit, but I am already learning a lot. 

I appreciate how when you look at the individual “symbols” they include commonly used words they are in and their romaji. 

A nice feature would be though would be symbols searcher, where if you draw a “sign” and it will show the sign and the romaji and whatever.

Man kann einschränken, was man lernen und Abfragen will und zusammen mit den verschiedenen Testmodi kann man schnell gute Lernerfolge erzielen. Diese gratisapp ist besser als mache 10 Euro App.

Ich habe erst kürzlich begonnen, mit dieser App das RICHTIGE Schreiben der Kana zu lernen. 
Das tolle sind nicht nur die Tests, die man zur Wissensfestigung machen kann, sondern auch, dass man die einzelnen Silben mit oder wahlweise ohne der Vorlage 'nachzeichnen' bzw. selbstständig schreiben kann!!

Es ist sehr einfach mir der App die Zeichen zu lernen, da man sie nachzeichnen kann, man lernt auch die Reihenfolge, in der gezeichnet werden muss. Dazu lernt man auch ein Paar Wörter, da zu jedem Zeichen immer Beispielswörter angezeigt werden. Nur zu empfehlen!

P.S.: Würde mich über eine automatische Stricherkennung freuen, so müssten die Antworten nicht selbst überprüft werden, ist aber nur eine Anregung, aber auch so ist sie die top App zum Lernen der Kana.

After running into a few major issues one of the developer's other apps (which ended up being the fault of my device ) and emailing the developer I received immediate support. This app itself is smooth, simple, and fantastic for learning to write the kana. The app is all about utility and it performs! There is a huge amount of content and many ways to test yourself and learn. The most unique and helpful feature that it offers is the ability to grade your own writing and stroke order in a step by step manner. There is no automatic writing detector to be picky and mark you wrong because the angle was "slightly off". This app makes studying and learning Japanese a breeze! It is an absolute must have for any learner! Thank you Jan for bringing this helpful tool to life! I don't have a single regret in purchasing this app and it's upgrade!
