## What is KanaLearn?

Learn Japanese hiragana and katakana the fast way — guided lessons, instant audio, and a streak to keep you coming back.

GUIDED LESSONS
Every character group starts with an introduction: see the kana large, hear it spoken, and move on when you're ready. Then practice with multiple-choice questions that record your progress automatically. No self-grading, no flashcard flipping — just clean, objective feedback.

STROKE ORDER, ANIMATED
See how each character is written, stroke by stroke, with an animated guide you can replay any time — so you learn to write it, not just read it.

OFFLINE AUDIO
Every kana is spoken aloud using your device's built-in Japanese voice. No internet needed — pronunciation plays throughout every lesson.

DAILY STREAK
Complete one lesson a day to keep your streak alive. The flame lights up after your first lesson and stays on as long as you come back the next day. A daily goal (customizable in Settings) gives you a clear target.

FULL HIRAGANA & KATAKANA
92 characters across 10 groups per script: vowels, K, S, T, N, H, M, Y, R, and W — the complete kana set, all included.

WHERE EACH KANA COMES FROM
Short origin stories trace the kanji that each kana grew from — a little history that makes the shapes click and stick.

PROGRESS TRACKING
The Progress tab shows mastery state (New / Learning / Mastered) for every character, color-coded for a quick visual sweep.

PRIVACY FIRST
No account. No tracking. No ads. All progress stays on your device.

## Version history (last 3 releases)

### 1.2 — 2026-07-18

Dark Mode is here. Every screen — onboarding, the learning path, lessons, quiz, typing, Progress, and the celebration — now follows your system appearance with a proper dark lavender palette and crisp, readable text. Light mode is unchanged. Plus a small polish fix so the app's accent color shows through consistently.

### 1.1 — 2026-07-04

Clearer first-time guidance: tap the new "?" on any screen for a quick walkthrough.
Typing practice now shows the answer and lets you continue at your own pace when you're
stuck. Friendlier origin-story hints, and a new way to send feedback from Settings. Now
available in more languages on the App Store.

### 1.0 — 2026-06-21
