## What is Kancil?

Duolingo won't teach your child Malay. Kancil will.

Kancil is a game — not a worksheet — that gets primary-school kids in
Singapore, Malaysia and Brunei practising Bahasa Melayu through play at
their own pace, guided by a cheeky mousedeer from Malay folklore.

130+ lessons across three skill levels (Tahap 1–3): vocabulary, imbuhan,
penjodoh bilangan, ayat aktif/pasif and the official peribahasa lists. In
Singapore, content is aligned to the MOE Bahasa Melayu 2024 syllabus up to
the PSLE band; the in-app level map shows equivalents for Malaysian and
Bruneian primary years (Tahun/Darjah 1–6). Levels are skill-based, not
grade-based — perfect for kids whose Malay is a year or two behind their
school level, because that's exactly who Kancil was built for.

Private by design
No ads. No account. No analytics. No tracking. Your child's progress never
leaves the device — there is no server for it to go to. Purchases are requested
in Kancil and processed entirely by the App Store; Kancil never
handles payment details.
